Update Log

Let's get this guide finished! - (12/08/2011) - My real life is hectic and so I've been unable to finish this game. My finances are crazy and I cannot logicially place real importance and resources (my time and rebuying this game) into getting this guide finished. If you want to see this guide finished then anybody who does have the resources to finish this guide should just pop me a message over xbox live. I currently do not even own a laptop so it's hard for me to get on TA, so a message over live is preferred. Just let me know you want to develop this guide and I'll give you permission to use what I've done here as the starting template for your "Turntable Perfection Guide". I'll keep an eye on your progress (whenever I can get onto a laptop/computer) and of course with any work anybody does, I'd like to know who's using it and be rightfully credited for my own contribution. I started on this guide about a year ago and I envisaged finishing it and having the ultimate guide available for DJ Hero as I hadn't seen much available on the internet to help with this game. It saddens me that a year later my guide is the only one of it's kind on TA/the internet and nobody else has bothered to make their own guide or something better, while mine is just a carcass of what it should be because for reasons outside my own control I am unable to finish it. I don't really care about the 2 negative votes I received for not completing this guide sooner, what I do care about is seeing it finished though however so until I am able to eventually finish it if somebody else who's more readily available wants to take the reigns over on this little project, let me know and we'll share the baby! laugh

Version 1.3 - (26/08/2010) - I took it upon myself to add the duration of each mix into the guide. I've 5 starred more than 2/3's of Expert, and only just noticed this game includes the duration of each mix in the custom setlist. LMAO. What a fail. Oh well, to stop that happening to any of you, this extra bit of info will be included in this guide for each song from now on. It's helpful too if you're on your first runthrough of the game, and as such, do not have access to the durations of mixes you haven't unlocked yet in your own custom setlist. I've also created intensity sections and strive to fill up these "works in progress" with scores and walkthroughs over the lifetime of this guides creation.

Version 1.2 - (25/08/2010) - I added a section highlighting the differences between each game mode difficulty to help those who try to "up their game" realise, in plain english, the challenges that lay ahead of them and what to expect. I also added scores for a couple (2) more songs on Expert, Hard and Medium difficulties.

Introduction / Notes
====================

* Song Walkthroughs, where they are posted - refer to the Expert Difficulty and the Expert Difficulty only. However, said strategies will probably work on easier difficulties because strategy in this game mainly revolves around euphoria and rewinds, which can be utilised in all 3 difficulties awarding achievements.

* If you have any of your own song tips or scores to post. Do not hesitate, just please make sure the information you're providing is accurate before you hit that post button. Thanks! :)

* This list will detail the number of points required to 5 star each mix/song in DJ Hero on the 3 difficulties which award achievements, Medium, Hard and Expert respectively.

* Please note however that scores are not guaranteed to be 100% correct but more around the area of 99% accuracy. Generally you should expect the scores required to be 2-3 thousand points lower or 2-3 thousand points higher than the figures listed here. The reason for this, especially when playing harder difficulties or songs with low score requirements/short time durations is because it can be very hard to tell the exact cut-off for the required 5 stars when a song is moving quickly and points are being earned so fast. Regardless, this should prove to be a very accurate and useful resource and I hope that it helps you aim for what you need in your game as it has been very time consuming to put together. Thank you for reading, and happy DJ'ing!!!

====================
Core Differences Between Medium, Hard and Expert Difficulties
====================

* Medium - Medium difficulty is suggested for those new to DJ Hero, but not new to rhythm games in general.

- Medium difficulty is a slight step-up from Easy.
- Songs are played slightly faster than they would be played in Easy difficulty.
- Scores required to earn 5 stars are slightly higher.
- A combo of 40 is now needed before you will earn a rewind, instead of 30.

* Hard - Hard difficulty is where the real challenge begins. Don't expect to master this unless you've got to grips with the game in Medium difficulty first.

- Hard difficulty is quite a jump from Medium, compared from Medium to Easy.
- Songs are played noticably faster than they would be played in Medium difficulty.
- Hard difficulty introduces crossfade spikes into some of the mixes.
- Hard difficulty starts to introduce one-blip directional scratching and the ocassional row of directional scratches.
- Scores required to earn 5 stars are much higher, sometimes double that of Medium.
- A combo of 50 is now needed to earn a rewind, instead of 40.
- The euphoria stages of each mix have been upped in difficulty also.

Combined, these changes makes Hard difficulty a true test of your DJ'ing ability.

* Expert - Expert difficulty in this game is unforgiving. Being the first game to use DJ Decks, there is nobody who can really jump up straight to the Expert difficulty level and so you'll find yourself trying to get to grips with easier difficulties before you can finally move up to this stage.

- Expert is a much bigger jump from Hard, than Hard was from Medium and will require perseverance.
- Expert difficulty speeds up mixes by about 2 intensity levels than their medium counterparts.

- You're now always nearly required to scratch in a specific direction, for long durations of time. The patterns of directional scratch now vary greatly throughout the different mixes, so in order to 5 star everything you're going to have to learn many different scratch patterns and how to pull them off at great speed. Some directional scratches have the arrows almost on top of eachother, when you see this it means you need to scratch VERY,VERY,VERY fast.

- Scores required to earn 5 stars are now much much higher, sometimes triple that of Medium.
- A staggering combo of 60 is now required in order to be rewarded with a rewind, instead of 50.
- Euphoria stages are significantly harder, with some songs requiring you hit a multitide of directional scratches or crossfade spikes before you will be rewarded with euphoria.

Expert difficulty, is without a doubt, a true test of gaming prowess - and those who can master it are true DJ Hero gaming gods. I wish you good luck. Anyhow, now onto the score chart!

Bell Biv Devoe - Poison
Mix Duration: 1:22

Scores needed to 5 star:
* Expert - 127,000pts
* Hard - 110,000pts
* Medium - 31,000pts

Song Walkthrough: The problem with this mix is the short duration, simply, if you mess up too much you are screwed because time is a massive enemy of yours and before you know it the mix is already over, giving you no chance to make up for your mistakes and get those 5 glorious stars. On the plus side of things, the scores required to get 5 stars are relatively low because of the short duration of the mix.

This song requires you hit a shit ton of red blips. When you see many of them just keep smashing the red button as quickly as possible, you can only be too slow at hitting these, but not too fast - so do not be worried about timing your button presses, just go crazy on them.

You want to aim to perfect at least one euphoria stage, preferably at the beginning or the middle of the song. Towards the end/mid-section of the song you should see a section full of blips that also requires you to crossfade, bringing distant memories of easier difficulties. This is by far, the easiest part of the song. There are a couple of stages like this next to eachother, some have no scratching in them at all, and some have a tiny bit of (directional) scratching to do. You want to use your euphoria just as you enter this section. Then shortly after it runs out, try and hit a 60 combo to get your rewind THEN REPEAT the last section with a 8x multiplier and this is how you will see 5 stars.

Unless you can hit everything 100% then this song is practically impossible to 5 star without using a rewind on a section you're comfortable at performing with. Using this method, I was able to 5 star this mix myself on Expert, so I can vouch that if you're at least skilled enough to be playing Expert then this will work for you.

Song Walkthrough: This mix gets progressively faster and more complex as it goes on. You need to perfect the first (slow) segment of the song. Use up your rewinds as soon as you get them here (but don't use them just after you hit a note, or you'll barely rewind at all).

You're going to need to practice the second segment as you need to learn to perfect this, this can be hard, but it is easier than trying to master the end of the song by any means, so it is necessary. Again, use your rewinds as soon as you get them and try to hit all perfects in the euphoria stages as you save them up for the third segment of the mix.

When on the third part of the song (the segment where the voice mentions "feedback") activate your euphoria. Now with the euphoria helping you, try to score yourself two rewinds here (This can prove difficult, but again it's possible with practice and beats trying to do the last part of the song).

This should get you 5 stars, if not close to it. If you're not quite there, you're going to need to try to hit as many blips, crossfades and scratches as humanly possible towards the end of the stage, and this should make up the last few points you need to 5 star the mix. This one is definitely one of the toughest, so using euphoria in the third stage and getting in as many rewinds as possible is crucial to obtaining a 5 star rating!

Guirec730 This is very cool. If you want to add...for Ace of Spades/Noisia, you must maintain an incredible combo...I hit it at 95% many times for only 4 stars on Expert. Best way to get it up there was to save at least one Euphoria for the later segments where you scratch blue/green back and forth with a fade so you can concentrate on the scratching without losing combo.

I only have beats and pieces left...it's good to know I'm within 50,000 of it, though.

Guirec730 Forgive me, the strat I mentioned was for the Guitar mix of Public Enemy Feat. Zack Wylde. It's a good idea for the song I mentioned but you won't get 5 Stars just using that method, you still have to maintain a crazy accuracy.

Save a Euphoria for the wild spikes towards the end of the Public Enemy guitar song and if you get lucky like I did you can go from three stars to five in one shot.

DaBlackAlbino My real life has taken over and I've been unable to finish this game for many reasons. I do not like to leave things unfinished, but when I'm able to come back and finish this guide will be a long time off yet. If someone else wants to pick this up from me and finish it, just let me know first and I'll give you the permission to use what I've got here as a starting template. smile
