This achievement unlocks after completing the second mission objective worded; "Cover rescue operation ships near platform". After defeating the incoming waves of enemy ships you will fulfill the requirements and complete the mission. The achievement will pop in mid mission.

This achievement is campaign related and cannot be missed.

As was suggested by a friend, a walkthrough for the mission on Realistic difficulty. Most of the credit goes to Big Dibs theDog.

You will start the mission by facing a group of boats in the bay. Take your time with this easy prey. You should keep your Hellfire missiles for later. Once you have taken them out you will be asked to defend your team evacuating the oil rigs.

For the remainder of this walkthrough I will use the following terminology; left will refer to the left side of the oil rig when you approach it from the bay. Right will, obviously, refer to the opposite side. When you approach the oil rig your team of four boats will already be under attack.

First Wave
Boats will approach from the left and from behind the oil rig. You can use Hellfires on one of the groups and annihilate them quickly while taking care of the other one with a strafing run. Alternatively you can use your cannon. It all depends on your skill and what suits you best. If you used Hellfires then make sure you used all of them except two so that they are reloading as you will need them for the final wave!

Intermediate Wave
Two single boats will approach the rigs. Do not fly towards them. Either use the two remaining Hellfires from before or try to take them out with the cannon as they approach. Once they are done spin around to face left.

Second Wave
Fly towards the left. Two groups will be heading your way. Be aggressive. Use your rockets and do strafing runs. Make use of your AI gunner. Be sure to lower the time needed for your AI gunner to take over as much as possible. That way he will take the initiative sooner. It also helps not to fire the gun yourself. As soon as you are done, fly towards the rigs you started at. There will be two waves that aggressively attack your boats with rockets. This is the hardest part.

I recommend you keep your Hellfires for this bit. As you fly towards your boats, use all your Hellfires destroying as many attackers as possible. I recommend using them on the group that is approaching from behind (in relation to the initial layout) the oil rigs. Be aggressive and strafe the other groups. It does not matter if you take damage or crash. I found the group approaching from behind to be larger and more dangerous than the one approaching from the right.

Intermediate Wave
The last bit will be fairly easy. You should not have crashed to much till now and have some lives left if all else fails. There will be two groups of AA boats approaching from left and right. You should be able to take care of them with two good strafing runs or manual use of your cannons if you can afford to stay still due to having some flares left. Whatever you do, do not leave your boats unguarded for too long or the group you are not taking care of might just finish them off.

Final wave
The final wave consists of a mere 8 boats. You should have no trouble taking them out. There you go, worst mission of the game completed!
