You will need to play the first act with each individual character: Sam B, Logan, Purna, and Xian. To complete this as fast as possible, focus on the main missions, avoid doing sidequests and explore only to heal, repair, or buy supplies and weaponry. This will take approximately 2 hours for each character.
Selecting Start > Extras > Achievements and highlighting Right 4 Life will tell you which characters still need to be played as.

As a fun fact, this achievement is a reference to the Left 4 Dead game.

Also:
People have reported that playing co-op might bug the achievement and not count some of your characters, in which case just replay chapter 4 with whichever character it says you need to complete. I received this achievement without playing cooperatively and it worked just fine.
Darth SporkerI just completed my fourth character and when the achievement did not pop i looked in the in game tracker and it only had one character as completed. Has anyone else had problems?

Thief44Same here I have a theroy mayb it's the priloge as well we have to replay or u can't play online while doing it at all as it doesn't track ur progress at lest it says it don't so try singleplayer and I know it sucks I too have onely one done and iv done all four I'm still pissed.

Gogore WoDYeah. Same problem. But I beat the game with 2 characters and they don't have progress. Oddly enough, I didnt complete the prologue on any but Logan, yet hes still on the to do list... This is kinda gay.

You play in someone elses game it won't register. My main player (playing co-op with the same level and same partner) it didn't register I completed it. I did start a new one by myself while skipping the prologue and it counted. Seems to be buggy.

Thief44I ran back thru it and did the prologue with Sam b n got his done so I can't really say if it counts or not but I didn't play online only solo so I believe buggy as well.

WeezleramI think the negative votes may be coming because people can follow those instructions exactly, but not get the cheevo because it is a bit bugged. The solution doesn't mention that the achievement is bugged at all.

Defrosted Jayif you 'drop out' of a multi player game just before you go through the tunnel in the truck it will count, at least it has for me. played xiam charecter all in someone elses co-op, last mission (just driving) dropped out and she is off the list

perfectkev7I also had trouble with this ever since I played co-op (Sam B was my first single player playthrough..he was off the list). Started doing just chapter 4 with every other character. Purna unlocked Logan, Xian, then herself from the list. So if you don't feel like playing all chapters of the act, chapter 4 will work fine, just a matter of finding the right characters to play with, and on single player.

Georgeous123I actually only did like 2 missions on someone elses game (in co-op on Act 1 ) and it says on my tracker that i finished it with Sam B! weird.

De4th By ToastiG x Jei, dismissive posts like that are what tempts me to give you negative feedback. Failure to note a glitched achievement is kind of an issue since you seem convinced that getting this should be as easy as cake-and while I AGREE that it SHOULD be, getting the achievement to pop actually isn't. Hence the 11+TA ratio, condescending replies only make you look like a jerk.

Quarantane@De4th By Toast- While they could have mentioned the developers fault, he had no problems getting the achievemtent, so he could have not even been aware of the issues with this achievement. Hence why there is a comment section in the first place.

If he had no trouble getting this, he can only rely on the comments of others to improve his guide, and mention problems others have had.

Although I also agree they were a bit snippy in their comment, it is not all on him, and we all know that there are people that vote negative for no reason

i5centWhat an odd glitch. Some people, it didn't count for at all, some, it counted for not even completing it, and for me, completing Act 1 with Sam B took Logan off the list, and completing it with Logan took Purna off the list.

Timww572I started a game with each character just to try them out and looking at the personal statistics most of my play time and stats are on the last character I created (Xian) instead of the characters that I actually play with (Sam B and Logan). Coincidently this is the only character that I have credit for finishing Act 1 with. Has anyone else noticed something like this with their characters?

KingxXx420Great Guide, its the playing coop that glitch it. I played coop with only my main charater I got to 50 with and beat the game solo with the other 3 then went back and beat chapter4 and pop, so beat them all solo or go back and beat chapter4 solo.

OzzieDeathTimww572, had the same happen to me with Sam B. I was playing as Logan and my two buddies were both Sam B. After we had finished I noticed my completion and it said I only cleared it with Sam B. I just did Ch. 4 with Logan again and that cleared it up.

DuncanMacleod08interesting bug on this achievement i've beaten act 1 with pruna,xian,sam b but for some reason on characters need to beat act one list on the achievement it lists sam b again and no logan.

DuncanMacleod08if for some reason when you complete act 1 with a character and it doesn't take for the achievement you can start a new char at chapter 4 the black hawk down mission and go from there until it takes.. might need to get a checkpoint once in act 2 before it will actually take as completed with the char

GrootbusterThanks to the commenters on here for the advice on replaying Chapter 4 to fix the glitch.
My main is Logan and I played all of Act I in co-op with my friend. Somehow I got credited for completing it with Sam B (which is who my friend was using) instead of Logan. Will probably wait until I complete the story and then go back and replay the chapter.

KitsuneChaosJust as a heads up: it seems that since they've released the patch, any characters that still remain on your list (but you've already completed) will need to be repeated. =/

Also -- how the hell do we "replay chapters"? I can't think of a way, outside of finding someone still playing, or New Game +.

Wicked JeiWhen you start a new game as a character you've already played as, you can replay the chapters you've done as that character. However, your level an items will be scaled to which chapter you play.

Wicked JeiFor people going for the achievement the first time, it is not likely they will complete missions as fast as someone who is already familiar with the first act. I think two hours is a fair prediction. Though good for you that you can run it that fast!

SinSTeRS DEVILguys same has happened 2 me i have logan done who is my main then i did my 2nd chracter as went do my 3rd but sum1 joined my game so soon as i did act 1 the achievement says i only done act 1 with logan so achievement got bugged soon as i did co-op so now i got do the 3 chracters in solo !!!

Hirsute DaveI've had a couple of main quests glitch on my across the four playthroughs when I'm in co-op (Ashes to Ashes at least twice) so it might be easier to do this solo.

I can confirm that you don't need to replay the prologue.

CandyLand251My two friends and I played through the entire game together as Logan, Sam B, and Purna and when I went to check my achievement stats it showed I only need Xian. So it might be easier to do it in Co-op, if that glitch still exists

Atomic Clutch XIf i was to do coop, do I have to start from the beginning of act 1, so that everyone playing can get the cheevo or unlock for character? Or is it alright to start from my progress and everyone will still be able to get/unlock?

DragonCrusaderVthis achievement is freaking glitchy!, i was in the middle of act 1 when i realized that i forgot to get the knock knock achievement in proloque, so i started a new game with sam b, got the achievement and deleted the save file and continued playing with my original character xian mei, but when i checked how many hours i have played, it says i have played 6 hours with sam b and 1 hours with xian mei which is not true since i used sam b only for like 5 minutes and the right 4 life achievement also said that i have completed act 1 with sam b not xian mei

I've quickly scanned through the comments to I don't know if this has already been covered, but once you complete the game and start from the beginning with the same character, the point for you getting past chapter 1 with that character is reset. Therefore if you want this achievement you can't complete the game until all 4 characters are past chapter 1 in order for the achievement to unlock. I know this because it has happened to me twice with my level 57 character, everytime I completed the game the in game achievement list would say '2 more characters to go' instead of 1. I hope this helps anyone if no one has mentioned it before, and if not it may help it you put this in the achievement description.

AkaDad555The hardest mission is "Only The Strong Survive." After you bring the truck to the workshop to be reinforced, climb on the roof and head to the back by the ladder. The infected can climb up there from another small roof below and you can just kick them off. It makes the mission almost too easy, if there is such a thing.

TyphonI had the same issue as others - Sam B's play through didn't count so I replayed chapter 4 and the achievement popped during the cut scene after passing through the tunnel. I'm glad you added that to your solution :-} cheers!

Sassy BellatrixACHIEVEMENT IS NOT "BUGGY/GLITCHY"!! This is how the game is intended, to make you play the WHOLE thing. You do NOT need the prologue. But you absolutely CAN NOT join anyones game that is even a sigle quest ahead of you. As long as you have completed/initiated all the same quests or more as the person you join it WILL POP! I did all 3 extra characters this way, had NO problem!!!

Broon43To the original poster of this guide, I had played through to Level 50 with Sam and finished the game. I played the other 3 characters and FINISHED the first act, yet no achievement. It was weird that Sam B. and Logan did not register as completing the first act when I checked the in-game achievement tracker.

So, following your advice, I loaded up Chapter 4 with Logan first, and finished Act 1 in like 15 minutes just doing the main quests. I checked the in-game achievement tracker and Logan was removed from the list.
Thus, I loaded up a new game for Sam B. and started on Chapter 4. I did the same thing that I did with Logan and once I hit the tunnel in the truck with Jin, the achievement popped!
Great advice to just load up Chapter 4.
