so this is one of my first reviews feedback mcuh appreciated.
I was flicking through the arcade games on xbox live an came across jeremy mcgraths offroad, first instincts that it was going to be something like baja edge of control to which was playable but not really something that i really wanted to finish as a game as it got long and boring.
Truthfully i had never heard of Jeremy McGrath at all, but i liked the look of this game as an arcade racer.
single player:-
you start your career on the dune buggys under the sportsman career, these are quite slow, but gives you a feel for the game and driving mechanics. this consists of 4 races.
You then move up into the Prolite Career which is another four races, then into the Pro Buggy Career, which is six races, then the rally class which is six races and finally the trophy trucks achieving the 2XL class achievement.
I feel for the career mode this is quite enough as you are rinsing and repeating the same tracks over and over again in the different class models with few point to point races put in to break up the boredom of the same track but different vehicle approach.
You earn experience from different maneuovers you do while racing and even overtaking other racers. This in turn stacks up at the end of each race and gives you the ability to upgrade the power, handling, acceleration and braking of each of your vehicles. Once you complete your career and try to run through it again with different skins on your vehicles it jumps right back to the end of the final race and rolls credits even though you have selected the first race in a different skin themed car which is a bit annoying, as it prompts you to multiplayer which as of a few days ago very hard to find a race.
Overall the single player career is great at the start but driving the same track over and over again, is just plain boring and shit.!!
6/10
Multiplayer
When i started online last week there were other players on playing this game as of yesterday it was very long in waiting to find a player to race against. not good.
4/10
Achievements
there are 12 achievements in total. 10 of them are not missable as you play through the single player career, pretty easy. the time trials one is simple aswell as you go to arcade select the shortest track select time trails and complete 6 laps and the achievement has popped. the last one drive 1000 miles will be a bit of a grind, if it be through rinsing and repeating another career on the same gamesave in another skin themed car or multiplayer or arcade its up to you.
Overall
this is not a bad game and i am giving it 4 out of 5 start for the simple reason that it definately feels like an arcade driving game that is enjoyable, wish the achievements would have been a bit better, but hopefully if DLC ever comes out it will be more challenging. If you liked Baja edge of control, then you will like this and btw make sure you turnoff help from Jeremy McGrath as he sounds cheesy and it gets irritating in between load times him giving you tips.
