The Harvest (WP)

Welcome to The Harvest walkthrough! While the game does have a pretty nice TA score, it really isn't all that difficult to complete. You will need to do three full playthroughs, however, so this guide will be about maximizing those playthroughs so you can get all of The Harvest's 20 achievements and 200G.

The reason why you have to play the game three times? You have to complete the game once with each of the three character types: SCARAB, FALCON, and ASP. You can certainly earn the achievements in the game in several ways over the course of these playthroughs, but here's what I find works well:

1) Complete your first playthrough of the game using SCARAB. He will be your only choice as you unlock the other two characters during your first playthrough. This will be your thorough run of the game, so you'll get all of the achievements related to exploration, item collection, and completing tasks. You'll also pick up the story-related achievements.

2) For your second playthrough, select FALCON and set your sights on finishing the game without dying as well as completing it in under four hours (don't worry - you'll make it in plenty of time). You'll also pick up the achievement related to FALCON's special ability on this run.

3) Finally, do your last run with ASP. Playing as ASP is a little different from the others, so it's better to save this for a run where you're not stressed about timeliness or dying. You'll get the achievement attached to ASP's special ability and the achievement for finishing the game with all three characters at the conclusion of this playthrough, as well as a game completion!

Again, you can mix and match achievements for time and not dying on different playthroughs, I just found this worked for me and led to an easy, no-thinking-required final run of the game.

As mentioned in the Overview, while The Harvest does have a fairly high TA score, it is by no means an impossible or even hard completion. It's merely a little lengthy compared to most Windows Phone games, and you can see from the ratios that most people simply don't bother with extra playthroughs. The game is well worth your time, though, as unlike most games on the Windows Phone, this is more than just a collection of mini-games or puzzles.

General things to be aware of:

1) Your first playthrough will limit you to choosing SCARAB. At points throughout the game (fairly early on), you will have to assist FALCON and ASP. Once you complete those missions, those characters will become available to you. You can stop your SCARAB playthrough at this point and start one of the others, but I'd recommend against it.

2) In addition to tapping on an enemy to attack it, you can double tap your character to do one of three special attacks - a strength-based one, an endurance-based one, and an agility-based one. The attacks are slightly different for the three characters, but I've found you will dominantly use the strength-based attacks and almost never use the agility-based ones. Generally, you only need these special attacks when prompted, but they are exceptionally helpful in the ASP playthrough. ASP is a close-quarters combat character and their strength-based attack, Air Slam, does a large radius of damage. You will have to use it often to survive!

3) Remember to actually utilize the items you collect! Throughout the game, you'll earn enhancement chips for completing various tasks or by opening salvage crates. The first time you find a chip, you'll get prompted to complete a tutorial about how to use them. Be sure to return to this screen frequently! Chips give bonuses to your attributes or, if you feel the chip you have isn't useful, can be converted into permanent points toward your endurance, strength, or agility stats. You'll also occasionally pick up a 'Major Stat Upgrade' item, which gives a +1 to all attributes so long as you use it. If you don't, it will just sit in your inventory unused and that would simply be wasteful.

4) Keep all your playthroughs on different saves. The achievement for finishing the game with all characters can occasionally not pop at the end of your final run, but that can easily be fixed by loading up your other save files.

With those notes out of the way, let get to the achievements!

Playthrough 1:

Achievements you'll get naturally on this playthrough:

Let's start off with some general notes about the story and the achievements you'll earn just for experiencing the game.

The Harvest is split up into four chapters, each with a varying amount of quests, black boxes, and destructible objects to be found. While you can certainly explore the world as much as you'd like, it's not a large and overwhelming one, so you should be able to find everything just by making sure you walk to every dead end you see on the map. We'll get to that in a minute though. The game starts you off by walking you through picking up a health pack and opening a door. Accomplish that, and you'll pick up your first achievement.

Now, we need a little explanation about the Nanotech System (NTS.) The NTS are your special abilities, which were mentioned in the general hints section. All three are unlocked as you progress through the story and, when you unlock it, you're always given a brief tutorial as to how to use it. The first you'll pick up is your Strength NTS, followed shortly by Endurance and finally Agility. On the right side of the screen, there's a blue bar that depletes as you use your special abilities. To the left of that are three orbs - an orange one (for Strength), a blue one (for Endurance), and a green one (for Agility).

As you fight enemies, they will drop orbs representing a variety of items. Among them are "Strength Orbs", "Endurance Orbs", "Agility Orbs", and "Super Power Orbs", which all fill up those NTS orbs. Fill any one of the three NTS Abilities to 100% (you'll see them on you right) and then activate the powered-up ability by tapping the ability once. Now that you have the ability selected, double tap your character and that's it. Voila, achievement unlocked!

Fill an NTS to 100% and use it.

The first fifteen minutes or so of the game will be full of tutorials introducing you to the basic controls of The Harvest. One of these tutorials will pop after you find your first enhancement chip. Now that you know how to do that and what chips look like, just make sure to visit the inventory screen whenever you acquire one. You can either equip these yourself or auto-equip them. Once you find six and equip one to all available slots (two arms, two legs, torso, and head), you'll be another achievement richer.

Kitted Out Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Equip an AC-1 Chip in each slot.

Before the end of the first level, you'll receive all three of your NTS upgrades. After each one, you'll see a tutorial on how to use that specific special ability. As long as you're good at following directions, then you'll get this one:

Finally, when it comes to NTS, each character type has one achievement attached to using a specific NTS. For SCARAB, it's the Agility NTS. Simply select it, line up three enemies, and power your way through them.

Scarab Express Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Scarab Express7 (5)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modes
Use the Speed Boost to destroy 3 enemies at once.

One of the achievements requires that you explore 95% of a level. On your first run, you're going to do every achievement that involves finding collectibles and exploring, so that means scouring every nook and cranny. You'll get this by the end of stage 1 if you're looking for everything, though it's easier on the other maps as they're less open. To check your map-exploration progress, either press the pause button on the left of the screen or use your phone's back button. The top right menu option is for your map. Just click on that and you'll actually see the map of the area you're exploring. In the bottom left, you can see your exploration percentage. Keep in mind that if you should get to the end of a stage and defeat the boss, you can still continue to explore the map! This achievement pops once you hit 95%, so you'll know right away if you've managed to do so.

Great Explorer Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Great Explorer20 (15)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modes
Explore at least 95% of one area map.

Now that you've fully explored the first level, including finishing all the black boxes and completing all the missions, just head to the end and take down the boss. Use your Strength NTS when his shield is down for big damage. If the battle gets tough, remember to kill the smaller enemies that appear as they drop useful items. Also try to walk away from the battle and let your healt regenerate when you can. Once the battle is over, you'll get your second story-based achievement.

Leveling up is important, of course. The higher your level, the easier the game gets since enemies don't level with you. The game caps at level 20, and you'll get there pretty easily on a thorough playthrough of the game. The Harvest doesn't ask you to reach level 20 for an achievement, though, just the halfway mark at Level 10. While you may hit this during level 1, I hit it right at the beginning of the second chapter. You'll easily get this one though, so don't worry about it!

Whenever you gain a level, you'll be given 5 attribute points to assign to your Strength, Endurance, or Agility stats. You can do this manually or automatically. Whichever you choose, don't panic. You'll easily get one of your stats to rank fifty to earn this achievement:

Specialist Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Specialist14 (10)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modesCumulative - This achievement is obtained by gradually increasing one’s total number of experience points, kills, hours, or similar measures, over time to meet certain goals
Increase one of your basic stats to 50.

At this point, just keep progressing through the game making sure you do all available missions (you can check this by going to the menu and clicking 'objectives') and keep picking up black boxes. Since you can't complete those till you go through all four chapters, you will pick up the next two story-based achievements, for beating chapters two and three, on the way:

As alluded to above, throughout the game, you will come across downed soldiers and the Black Boxes they left behind. There are ten in total - two in the first stage (The Outer Walls), two in the second stage (The Catacombs), three in the third stage (The Ancient City), and three in the final stage (Aim Facility). You shouldn't have any trouble finding these if you take your time and look around on your first playthrough, but you can check out maps here the were posted by TA user SwamiMacGyver. You can check which Black Boxes you have by going to the game's menu and picking "Log". If you're missing any, you can always go to the warp point at the beginning of the stage and pick up what you missed.

War Journal Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

War Journal20 (10)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modesCollectable - This achievement is obtained by exploring the game environment to find a set of unique objects
Collect all 10 BB-7-Recorders.

As you progress, you'll be given a variety of missions to complete. Some are necessary, but quite a few are optional. Missions generally come in one of a few varieties: Unmissable story missions, missions that introduce you to a specific destructible element and expect you to destroy all of that object in a level, missions for escorting others from point A to point B, missions that want you to activate certain objects, and missions for surviving some form of gauntlet/lasers.

None of the missions are well hidden and most are obvious to complete. There are two in the final level, "Destroy the Cameras" and "Merged Cyborgs", that require you to look at your surroundings pretty carefully so that you can destroy both Cyborgs that have merged with the walls and cameras. You will have each element pointed out to you when you first encounter them so you know exactly what to look for. Just be aware that if you've reached the part of the level where you have to press the two switches to open the final door and you haven't completed those missions, turn around and take another look! All of the destructible items needed for those missions are on the left hand side or upper part of the screen, so that narrows where you have to look some!

Here's a full list of the Missions you'll come across, broken apart by chapter:

The Outer Walls

Complete all objectives.

At this point, we have this achievement for destroying all destructible objects in a level. While you can do this on any of the four levels, I strongly recommend working on this on level four, "Aim Facility". Two of the missions, as noted above, already involve destructible elements, so you'll know if you've found everything of those once you're notified that the missions are done. Otherwise, there are three types of destructible items to look out for: Crates, Flat Carts with Wheels, and Forklifts.

In order to destroy objects in the environment, you just have to use your strength NTS. When you destroy the crates, you'll see dirt pour out of them. The carts will take two hits, and you'll see them flip over. Smash the forklifts once and the carts they're holding will drop. This will pop once you've destroyed everything, not at the end of the level. For the most part, the crates will be in the cavern areas and carts and forklifts will be in the more factory-looking sections. If you get to the mission to dodge lasers but still don't have the achievement, turn around and take another look for them. To be on the safe side, make sure to hit each object twice, though it's usually not necessary.

Destructive Force Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Destructive Force34 (15)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modes
Destroy all breakable environment pieces in one area map.

Finally, now that you have the Black Boxes all collected, all the missions done (excepting the very last one for beating the last enemy), NTS' collected, and destructible items in the final level taken care of, head through the final door and defeat the final boss. He's not tough at all, especially since you should be at the game's max level of 20 and have many, many health kits at your disposal. Destroy the turrets until you can hit the final bad guy and once he's down, you'll get the final story-based achievement.

And that wraps up playthrough 1! Now you've done everything that requires you to take your time, so you can move on to the next playthrough without worrying about all that. All told, my first playthrough took me just over 5 hours (though I did a lot of backtracking!). It is, once again, possible to do your under 4 hour run here, but why rush? You have another pair of playthroughs to go through anyway!

Playthrough 2

Congratulations and welcome to Playthrough 2! We don't have much to consider here, so you'll have a lot less to read through now. Also congrats on already being 75% through the achievement list!

As noted above with SCARAB, FALCON also has an achievement attached to the use of a specific NTS. In FALCON's case, you just have to use their EMP ability, which is the Strength (orange) orb, to freeze three enemies. You'll wind up doing this a lot naturally, but in case you don't, just get a group of three or more baddies together, tap the Strength NTS to select it, and double tap FALCON to activate it. Easy!

Falcon EMP Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Falcon EMP9 (5)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modes
Use the EMP to freeze 3 enemies at once.

This run will be all about combining the achievements for not dying AND the achievement for beating the game in under 4 hours. I recommend this for a couple reasons:

  1. FALCON is a good, balanced character to use. SCARAB may actually be easier to get through the game without dying, but as that's your first run and you'll just be getting the handle of the game, it's best not to stress about it. FALCON is also a long range character, which means you'll have a better sense of when your situation is getting dire so you can spam health packs before disaster strikes.
  2. Conversely, ASP is terrible for getting through without dying as its endurance is low and SCARAB moves slowly, meaning that finishing in 4 hours, especially if you have to retrace your steps, might be troublesome.

On this run, there will be no need to retrace steps or to search every nook and cranny. I do recommend that you treat "The Outer Walls" as you would on your first playthrough. Be relatively thorough and complete all the missions as they give you experience. This should give you enough of a cushion insofar as your levels and having decent chips and an abundance of health packs that you can just blast through the remaining three levels. On my second run, the first level took me around 40 minutes, and I completed the game in just over 2 hours. The most difficult part of the game will be your first boss encounter, just due to being at fairly low levels. Once you're past that, the rest will be simple. Remember that health in this game does regenerate, so if you're really in a tight spot early on, you can take some time to run away and let your health recover. Better to lose three or four minutes than a life!

Accomplishing both will get you the following two achievements and leave you with just one, easy play of the game left! Both will pop after defeating the final enemy.

Playthrough 3

Alright, "Easy" is a relative term. Of the three character types, ASP is the most difficult as it's a short range attacker with very high strength, but poor endurance. This means you'll probably die a couple times while you get adjusted to playing with this one. While using ASP, I definitely found I utilized the strength NTS a lot more frequently than I did in previous playthroughs as it has an exceptional range and is quite strong.

Of course, the advantage to taking care of the speed and no-dying runs in the previous playthrough is that you don't need to worry about how well you actually play, you just need to get through the game. There is one final character specific achievement you'll need to finish. Since SCARAB required you to use your Agility NTS for that character-specific achievement, and FALCON required Strength, that leaves ASP with an Endurance-based achievement. ASP's Endurance ability, which you activate by tapping the blue orb on the right of the screen once and then double-tapping ASP, is "Wind Walk". Essentially, this makes you invisible to enemy eyes until you attack, and provides a great way to get out of a tough spot. Just activate "Wind Walk" and attack an enemy three times to get the last character-specific achievement out of the way.

Asp Wind Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

Offline Required - This achievement requires play in offline game modesSingle Player - This achievement can be obtained in single player game modes

Now you've just about reached the light at the end of the tunnel! All you have to do is get through the rest of the game in whatever way you choose and finish the last fight! It has been reported this can glitch occasionally, but this is exactly why you should have separate save files for each playthrough. If the achievement does not pop after the last fight, simply load up your other saves and replay the last battle without exiting. That should fix it up for you!

Completionist Achievement in The Harvest (WP)

There you have it! You should have all 20 achievements and 200G. Congratulations on the completion!
