Upon purchasing and loading up the game, you will instantly be rewarded with an achievement. Congratulations on the "Fairy Godmother" achievement.
You've done a great thing and made the world a better place. Here's a little gift!
You should first play through each of the levels in Timed Mode, as these will allow you to unlock the same levels in Free Mode. To unlock a new level in Timed Mode, you must fill the grid to at least 50%. Similarly, to unlock the corresponding level in Free Mode, you must also fill the grid to at least 50%. I would recommend playing the 9 minute mode, as this will give you more time to fill the grid and allow you to practice playing the game.
Whilst doing so, you will probably be able to unlock a few other relatively easy achievements.
If you create ANY quad before the beatline has made its first pass of the level, you will unlock the "Quick Off The Blocks" achievement. The quad can be any shape/size, but obviously a 3x3 quad is the easiest.
Create a quad before the beatline has made its first pass of the level.
Creating three active quads onscreen at the same time will unlock the "The Juggler" achievement. These can also be any shape/size. Quads that are 3x3 will also be quickest to make here.
Have 3 active quads onscreen at once.
"The Musician" achievement can be unlocked by creating a minimum of six different quads on the same level. These do not have to be done at the same time. Quads of different sizes/shapes make different sounds, so try to build as many different quads as possible. For example; 3x3, 3x4, 3x5, 4x3, 4x4, 5x3, etc. Note that some shapes will make the same sound. Essentially, just keep making grids of different shapes and sizes until the achievement unlocks.
Find 6 different quad sounds on a level. Quads can be square, wide or tall, and either small or big.
There are two miscellaneous achievements that can be unlocked at the same time by creating a snake across an entire level. "The Beast" is unlocked by creating a quad containing 80 or more cells. This quad can be any size, but it will inevitably unlock when aiming for "The Snake". "The Snake" is unlocked by creating a quad that covers the entire width of the grid on all five levels.
When you create a grid, you will notice there is a timer on that quad. If you manage to expand the quad before that timer fills, the timer resets. It is recommended aiming for "The Snake" using the methods shown in this video by YouTube user YS23Aoki.
First create a grid that is two cells tall across the entire width of the grid, making one surface as flat as possible. Once you have done that, start adding to the grid on one side to create a quad, and quickly expand across until the quad spans the entire length of the grid. The following video shows how a snake can be made in each of the five levels to unlock the achievement.
Note that you will need to obtain a coverage of at least 50% on each grid to unlock the next. The easiest way to do this is to play in 9 minute Timed Mode.
Create a quad containing 80 cells or more.
Create a single quad that covers the entire width of the grid on every level.
Before we move on, there are two more that can be obtained relatively easily in any mode. It is recommended that you play the first level of 9 minute Timed Mode for both of the following two achievements, but you can quit and reload if you make a mistake.
Firstly, the "Fast Mover" achievement is unlocked by creating seven quads in one pass of the beatline. The best way to unlock this is achievement is to set up multiple partially complete quads, with one or two cells missing. Once this is done, wait for the beatline to pass an incomplete quad and then fill in the missing piece. Do this for seven different quads. When the beatline then makes its next pass, you should unlock the achievement.
If you need a video solution for this achievement, please see the following video:
Create 7 quads on the grid in one pass of the beatline.
"Juggler Master" is aguably the most annoying achievement, aside from "Ultimate Champion". To unlock "Juggle Master", you must build up a score multiplier of 25 or more. Your score multiplier is increased each time you create a new quad. You therefore must create 25 separate quads without losing your multiplier.
It is recommended that you try to create 3x3 quads, as these obviously use the least amount of space. This will however create fragments (cells not in the quad). It is these fragments that will harm your multiplier. If the beatline passes over the fragments multiple times, they will begin to flash. One more pass of the beatline, and all fragments will disappear, and you will lose your multiplier. To combat this as best you can, aim to re-use fragments as often as you can, focusing on the brightest fragments to minimise the chances of losing your multiplier. As soon as the 25th quad has been completed and the beatline passes it, the achievement will unlock.
For a video demonstration of this achievement, please see the following video:
Build up a score multiplier of 25 or more.
By this point, you should have a good grasp of the game mechanics, and should have all bar four achievements in the game.
Firstly, aim to fill the grid to at least 50% for each level on Timed Mode. This will unlock each corresponding level in Free Mode. Once you have unlocked all levels in Free Mode, you should play each of them.
On the first level, you should aim to fill the grid to 100% for the "Composer" achievement. As you may have gathered by now, filling the grid is done by completing quads onscreen. As the beatline passes the quad, the grid changes colour underneath. You should try to colour in the entire grid in this manner. Hold Y to view which cells still need to be used.
Completely fill the grid in Free Mode.
For the other four levels in Free Mode, you are not required to completely fill the grid. Feel free to play and practice in each of the levels, but if you wish, simply load each level up and quit out. Once you have played each level in both Timed Mode and Free Mode, you will unlock the "Explorer" achievement.
Play all the levels in both Time Mode and Free Mode.
The next achievement you will be aiming for is "Ultimate Champion". To unlock this achievement, you must get 100% coverage on each level in 3 minute mode. There is not really a solution for this; only advice.
Firstly, aim to be quick and messy with your grid placements. If there are too many fragments in one area, ignore them and work on another area. The beatline will remove these fragments eventually and you can rework on those missing cells when the area is cleared.
Start by working on the difficult areas. The open areas are much easier to cover, but placing shapes in the corners is not always possible if you have other quads/fragments nearby. As such, you should start with corners first.
The actual amount of time for each level is more than 3 minutes, so don't feel too worried. For every 10% of the grid you complete, you are rewarded with a time bonus.
There is actually a glitch for this achievement if you are interested. You still need to complete 4 of the 5 levels in 3 minute mode, but the final level can be completed in 9 (or 6) minute mode. To do this, you must first clear your cache. To do this, return to the Dashboard. Go to the Settings tab and select System. In System Settings, select Storage. Move down to the Hard Drive, press Y and select 'Clear System Cache'. Once you have cleared your cache, load the game up and reject the update. This will force you to play offline, but the final level can be completed much more easily.
Get 100% coverage or more on every level in 3 minute mode.
Congratulations, you have now completed all of the difficult achievements in the game! All you should have remaining is one grindy achievement.
To unlock "Big Bucks", you must accumulate a total of 50,000,000 points across all games. Points are not awarded in Free Mode, so you should play the first level in 9 minute Timed Mode over and over. Remember the tips to increase your score multiplier, as this will help boost your score.
To check your total score, finish any level and look for the 'Total Overall Score' statistic displayed at the end of level summary. Once you have surpassed 50 million points, the achievement will unlock.
Score a total of 50 million points.
Congratulations, you have now unlocked all the achievements in Chime!
