3. Story walkthrough

This walkthrough is written to follow your achievement progression in a normal playthrough of the game. Starting from the first level then progressing through stage after stage follow what is in the guide below. The bottom of the walkthrough has a couple of missables and information for the bonus missions. Each hub has 5 levels and you cannot pick where you want to go first (minus the bonus hub) as after you beat a stage you move onto the next until you get a new hub and repeat, so these achievements listed here go in mission order.

Ok, let's earn some achievements. First Pick your Owl then start the game. The tutorial mission is first. It starts as a dream, and then you actually train.

Ready for Battle5 (5)

Complete the Tutorial Missions

• Unlocked by 1,461 tracked gamers (100% - TA Ratio = 1.00) 1,461

That achievement unlocks for completing the tutorial. Easy enough.

Make some Noise6 (5)

Hoot 108 times

• Unlocked by 883 tracked gamers (60% - TA Ratio = 1.29) 1,461

As soon as you can, hit your A button. Did you hear Shard hoot? Yeah, thats all A does. Just push A over and over until this achievement pops. As you play just press A, but don't make it a big deal to constantly hoot.

Victory!5 (5)

Defeat an enemy in a mission

C-C-Combo Breaker5 (5)

Perform a chain attack on a single enemy in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,337 tracked gamers (92% - TA Ratio = 1.05) 1,461

The next one pops when you kill your first enemy. During Mission 1 you will be attacked near the start. When you attack an enemy you will notice for a brief second the reticule turns red. Attack him again during this and it's considered a combo. If only you heard the Killer Instinct voice yell, "C-C-C COMBO BREAKER!!!!" which oddly means the opposite of this achievement. Ah Krome and your love for retro video games.

Do a Barrel Roll!5 (5)

Do a barrel roll in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,334 tracked gamers (91% - TA Ratio = 1.05) 1,461

"Fox your father died, DO A BARREL ROLL!" Well Peppy didn't actually say that to Fox but Star Fox's famous Do A Barrel Roll found its way into LOTG. Flick RS left or right as you're flying to perfrom a barrel roll for the achievement.

Counter Culture10 (10)

Successfully counter attack an enemy in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,336 tracked gamers (91% - TA Ratio = 1.05) 1,461

If you ever seen an enemy flying straight at you with a button next to it push that button. You will counter his attack and earn this achievement.

Fly Safe13 (10)

Complete An Ally in the Sand without touching a twister

• Unlocked by 925 tracked gamers (63% - TA Ratio = 1.26) 1,461

On the first level avoid all twisters. You can always come back later to repeat the level if you do manage to make contact with a twister.

Top Speed5 (5)

Reach maximum speed in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,329 tracked gamers (91% - TA Ratio = 1.05) 1,461

Build up your flying speed and you easily earn this on the first level. Hold RT to glide. If it doesn't happen don't worry. There are many points in the game where you will be able to hit top speed.

Upgrade your Flight5 (5)

Unlock a new combat attack

As you fight you will earn new abilities. The first mission will earn you one. You can check your progess to leveling up in the pause menu. All you need to do is kill enemies so it's gonna happen as you play the game. There isn't an EXP system.

Team Attack11 (10)

Use the Team Attack Combo to help out a wingman in trouble

• Unlocked by 1,227 tracked gamers (84% - TA Ratio = 1.09) 1,461

Use LB to lock onto an enemy then RB to make your wingman deal with him. You have 3 wingmen at a time (later on in the game but at start you have 1 and after the 1st level you have 2) so follow one to a fight and attack right after he attacks. It should tell you it was a Team Attack and the achievement will pop.

Seven in One Blow22 (20)

Defeat seven enemies without being hit in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,254 tracked gamers (86% - TA Ratio = 1.08) 1,461

Defeat 7 enemies without getting hit. It might take practice but isn't hard at all. By mission 2 you can earn this as in 1 it is a bit harder to avoid damage.

No Flies on Shard21 (20)

Complete all objectives in a mission successfully without dying

• Unlocked by 1,319 tracked gamers (90% - TA Ratio = 1.05) 1,461

If you beat the mission and didn't die then you got an achievement. Later on you can buy armor to increase your health so you can really earn this on any mission without trouble.

No Witnesses22 (20)

Defeat every enemy in a story mission

• Unlocked by 1,203 tracked gamers (82% - TA Ratio = 1.10) 1,461

You can earn this in mission 2. Kill everyone. Some missions you need to kill everyone so this will happen.

Take That, You Fiend!12 (10)

Hit an enemy with the Corkscrew in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,071 tracked gamers (73% - TA Ratio = 1.17) 1,461

At any time use the corkscrew attack--flick RS up towards an enemy.The achievement pops when it connects.

Owlage30 (20)

Use the corkscrew on 20 enemies

• Unlocked by 649 tracked gamers (44% - TA Ratio = 1.50) 1,461

Keep doing it. You most likely will get this early on or near the middle of the game.

Great Shot11 (10)

Hit an enemy with a flaming coal

• Unlocked by 1,206 tracked gamers (83% - TA Ratio = 1.10) 1,461

You can pick up a hot coal by pressing A when looking at it. When you have a hot coal lock on to an enemy and throw it. You will be finding coal a lot through the game as many missions require it. The first would be the 2nd mission.

A Bird in the Hand6 (5)

Upgrade your owl with any Battleset

• Unlocked by 1,150 tracked gamers (79% - TA Ratio = 1.13) 1,461

You will be notified when you unlock a battleset just by progressing through the game. Go purchase it at the shop.

Narrowly avoid colliding with an enemy in a mission

• Unlocked by 1,012 tracked gamers (69% - TA Ratio = 1.20) 1,461

Do a barrel roll when an enemy is about to attack you. Example instead of the Press Y to counter when you get charged, you can just barrel roll to avoid damage. Can be done anytime.

Boss Rush26 (20)

Defeat any boss without losing a life

• Unlocked by 875 tracked gamers (60% - TA Ratio = 1.29) 1,461

Kill a boss without dying. The First Boss is the easiest as you need to keep distance and throw coal at him. If you die you can come back later and load the boss fight up. All the boss does is circle around and strike you like the rest of the enemies. After the boss the 1st hub is complete

Kuneer or Kufaar12 (10)

Complete the Desert of Kuneer Missions

The achievement unlocks after the boss and you move on to the next area.

Use your Wingmen 20 times

• Unlocked by 770 tracked gamers (53% - TA Ratio = 1.38) 1,461

Call for an assist a lot from your fellow Owls. This will easily happen over time as you should use them as often as you can. This must be done in one mission however but it's easy to do.

Fly like the Wind40 (30)

Use 50 Wind Currents

• Unlocked by 812 tracked gamers (56% - TA Ratio = 1.34) 1,461

Over time you will earn this. A wind current is a big white circle that will give you extra speed. Some missions require you to use these.

Lucky Number27 (20)

Achieve a 15 hit chain in a mission

• Unlocked by 786 tracked gamers (54% - TA Ratio = 1.36) 1,461

Keep Combo'n it up. Any stage with big open area battles will do.

Throw an enemy into the water. Just fly low near water during a fight. The Forest levels all have plenty of water.

Gliding with Style24 (20)

Complete a mission without losing your armor

• Unlocked by 978 tracked gamers (67% - TA Ratio = 1.22) 1,461

Never lose your armor during a mission. You can try loading an older mission or just keep up on counters and barrel rolls as you advance. Your armor is part of a battleset you can purchase.

Break an enemy’s armor

Your Y attack will break armor. You cannot use Y on a Hagsfiend.

Light'em up14 (10)

Complete Lighting The Way without a torch going out too early

• Unlocked by 722 tracked gamers (49% - TA Ratio = 1.42) 1,461

Here you go. This one can be tricky if you get caught in a fight for too long. Basically as fast as you can pick up hot coals and throw them at all the torches.

Fly 100 Kilometers

Fly like an eagle...err an Owl. This will happen before you beat the game.

Dodge'ems33 (20)

Complete Pure Retaliation without being hit by a turret

• Unlocked by 553 tracked gamers (38% - TA Ratio = 1.63) 1,461

This one is a tough one. Beat Mission 5 of The Forest Kingdom without getting hit by a turret. I kept quiting out and trying again just so I could stay familiar with the turret locations.

Complete Race to the Retreat in 4 minutes or less

That's Got to Hurt13 (10)

Successfully perform the Fall From Grace

• Unlocked by 866 tracked gamers (59% - TA Ratio = 1.30) 1,461

Try your new move. You earn this by the middle of the 3rd hub area. You will notice RT LT above an enemy if you can perform the move. You can throw them against a rock and then you yourself must pull up and avoid damage.

Defeat the Hagsfiend Queen14 (10)

Complete the Glauxian Brothers Retreat Missions

By the time you finshed the 3rd hub you can get one of these. The last 2 armor sets. They are expensive though. Pick the one you can afford.

Buy all the Battlesets

• Unlocked by 625 tracked gamers (43% - TA Ratio = 1.53) 1,461

If you kept earning money throughout the game go for this as well. If not thats ok come back near the end.

Love the Smell29 (20)

Bomb 20 Turrets

By now you will be earning this one. Most likely it would pop before the last level.

Boy Are My Arms Tired72 (50)

Fly more than 200 kilometers

Complete the game

Explore all five environments in the Bonus Missions for a short time

Play all the bonus levels. Attempt each mission in the levels. The level next to the 1st is a Bonus hub (which has no levels just a bonus area) and every stage after has a bonus when you go back via level select in a hub.

Collect all the artwork

There isn't a map to check so lots of these must be found on your own. Use the video to help but here is a list for those that would rather read a list.

Island of Hoole

1. Top of the main tree

2. The middle of tree in a small nook.

3. Fly around the Base of the tree. You'll notice it as you circle.

4. In an alcove near off to the right.

5. Fly around near #4 and look for an elevated pond.

Desert of Kuneer

1. Near the start fly around and you should find this one, 2 and 3. It's noticeable

2. In a rock

3. Near a tree

4. Fly high near the mountain area

5. In the desert area near sharp rocks.

Forest Kingdom

1. Near the survival challenge in between mountains.

2. Near the same spot higher on a mountain peak.

3. Near waterfalls. It's over the lake.

4. High above where the bomber challenge is.

5. Lower area near the speed challenge.

Brothers Retreat

1. Next to a frozen lake with trees surrounding it.

2. Near the owlette rescue next to a mountain.

3. Behind a mounatin near another frozen lake opposite side.

4. Under an arch near a lot of glaciers.

5. Near 4 all the way towards the edge of the map.

The Beaks

1. Left of where you start under an arch.

2. Back at start in front of you under the tunnel.

3. In a nook in the mountains near the river.

4. Back at start behind you near another river.

5. Fly high and look near mountain peaks near the edge of the map.

Collect 4200 Shinies

• Unlocked by 414 tracked gamers (28% - TA Ratio = 1.88) 1,461

Pretty much just grind this one out. You can check your progress only by looking at loading screens until you see it sadly. Must be done in one playthrough. These are the gold conis you have been flying into the whole game.

Can't really help you here. Everyone has there own way of doing things. I will say that only one mission will give you a hard time. You have to defend Owlets when they move to a new base. Practice Practice Practice. It took me forever. It made me want to break my disc. Other than that this isn't so bad.

Try this on early missions. You cannot attack any enemies--all your wingmen must get every kill. Just fly around and do dives (Holding the Left Stick down while high up) to earn more prowess for the meter to summon another wingman.

If you didn't get it already. It is possible to miss but some may get this on a normal playthrough. The first level of the game has Crows to fight. You must kill them for them to count, not your wingman.

Continue playing after completing the game

Make a new save file and pick a new Owl and play. It will pop.

Bird of a Different Feather108 (50)

Complete the game as all Four Characters

I agree with you... THIS IS TAKING FOREVER! It's the same missions over and over. Just skip everything bonus and fly straight through the game (pardon the pun).

Once that's all done you have 1000G YEAH! That was a hoot wasn't it? Owl have to admit I had fun doing this game other than beating it over and over. Yeah I know I'm not funny...
