For all of the non-DLC achievements in Golf, you can play against Rookie AI opponents. On this difficulty, the wind conditions are always set to 'Calm', so you do not have to worry about compensating for these conditions.
To begin with, choose to play a 9 Hole game. After the tutorials, hold your hand above your eyes, as if to shield them to preview the course. This will unlock the "Birds Eye View" achievement. This can be done at any time, and is useful if you want to plan your route.
View a golf hole using the 'hole preview' gesture when playing golf
Whilst some of the other achievements could be obtained on your very first round, you are just getting accustomed to the sport, so it is recommended that you simply try to finish the 9 holes under par. This is not too difficult, even if it is your first time playing golf. The key is to listen to your caddy's advice. Always use the default club, aim for the position that the caddy recommends, and swing with the recommended strength shot (strong, standard, weak).
In addition to the above advice, you should also use practice shots to test out your shots. Raise your arm to enter Practice mode, raising your arm again when you are ready to take your shot.
Each of the 9 holes will have a certain par score. You will want to finish each hole with as few shots as possible. If you finish the entire round of golf under par (not every single hole), you will unlock the "Below Par Star!" achievement.
Play the full nine holes of Maple Lake and finish under par
There are four remaining non-DLC Main Event achievements. Three of these may have been obtained throughout your first 9 holes. We can aim for each separately quite easily. Instead of playing a 9 hole game, select Single Hole. This will allow you to select a specific hole from the course, and replay it if you are unsuccessful with the achievement attempt.
Firstly, select any hole, preferably one with a flat green. Get the ball to the green and putt the ball so it is about 2 to 4 yards from the hole. Now aim for the edge of hole, using a bit more power than you usually would for that distance. The ball should hit the edge of the hole and spin around it, before dropping in. If you use too much power, the ball will either miss, or exit the hole during the spin. If the ball spins around the hole and drops in, you will unlock the "Spin And In" achievement.
Make the ball roll around the rim of the hole and in when playing golf
For the next achievement, select Sandbank Isle. Change the club to 7 Iron, aim directly at the hole and swing with all of your might. If you do this successfully, the ball should either go straight in the hole, or hit the flag and drop in (maybe after a bounce). If you are unsuccessful, simply replay and try again. You may want to use a practice shot. Eventually, you will get a Hole in One, unlocking the "Tee and in" achievement.
If you cannot unlock the achievement on this course, it is recommended that you try "Crater Springs" from the Maple Lakes Golf Pack DLC, as this is much easier, and will earn you another achievement too. See the bottom of this page for information on that hole.
Hit the ball in the hole from the tee off for a hole in one when playing golf
For the next achievement, you will need to chip in from a bunker. There are various holes with bunkers directly adjacent to the green, but I personally found this easiest with the Sandback Isle course. Aim your first shot so that the ball lands directly in a bunker, as close to the hole as possible. This will require an intermediate strength shot.
Once you have the ball in the bunker, take a few practice shots so you are aware of the placement and strength needed for the next shot. The accuracy is not as great from the bunker, so this may take a few attempts. If you are successful with your shot, you will unlock the "Bunker Beater" achievement.
Hit the ball into the hole straight out of a sand bunker when playing golf
The final non-DLC achievement in Main Event golf requires you to putt in from more than 40 yards on Lighthouse Bay. The most difficult part of this is setting yourself up for the achievement. You want to try to land the ball at the very top of the green, and hope that it does not bounce off the green, or roll downhill. Keep practising, and you will eventually get your ball to land on the green, 40+ yards away from the hole.
Now the easy part. Aim so that the putting line is as opaque as possible. A fully opaque shot increases your accuracy. Now swing as hard as you can. The ball should go directly in to the hole, maybe hitting the flag on the way, allowing you to obtain the "Putting Perfection" achievement.
Putt the ball in from over 40 yards on Lighthouse Bay when playing golf
There is one achievement in Golf that is not related to the Main Event. This is with the Ocean Driver minigame. In this minigame, you are awarded points based on where you land the ball. Before each shot, there is a randomly selected board. The board will have an area for 3 points, 2 points, and 1 point. You should change the strength of your shot depending on where you want to hit the ball, using Strong, Intermediate and Weak swings. Later on, different levels of wind will affect your shots, so compensate accordingly.
Hitting the 3 point target will give you another shot, so aim for these as much as possible. Once you have scored over 50 points, you will unlock the "Pitching for Points" achievement.
Score more than 50 points in Ocean Driver
Maple Lakes Golf Pack
The Maple Lakes Golf Pack DLC can be purchased for 400 Microsoft Points from here. The DLC adds 9 new holes to the game, as well as 5 new achievements.
You should first play through all 18 holes in one go for the "Out for the day" achievement. You do not need to obtain an under par score, so don't worry too much.
Play the full 18 holes of Golf on Kinect Sports: Season Two in one session.
The four remaining achievements are all related to specific holes, so you should select Single Hole. These achievements are ordered according to difficulty, from lowest to highest.
First load up Crater Springs against Rookie AI opponents. Select the 5 Iron, and then aim for the rough at the very left of the course. If you hit the correct part of the rough, the ball will stop, and begin to roll down hill, directly into the hole. This will unlock the "Crater Expectations" achievement, as well as "Tee and in" if you have not obtained that already.
Hit a Hole-in-One on Crater Springs - The lay of the land may be helpful. (All difficulties)
Now load up Whistling Bluff against Professional AI opponents. Use the recommended club, but do not aim where the caddy tells you to aim. Instead, aim for the boulder to the right of the mountain and hit the ball as hard as you can. If you manage to hit the left of the boulder, or simply hit the ball through the gap to the left, the ball should hopefully deflect to the left, roll down the hill and fall in to the hole. This will unlock the "Bluffin' Brilliant" achievement. Note that you may have to compensate for the wind.
Hit a Hole-in-One on Whistling Bluff. A good tee-off will beat the rock (Pro & Champion difficulty)
Now load up Hopscotch Coast against Professional AI opponents. For this achievement, you need to hit a Condor. A Condor is when you finish the hole four under par. At the start of the hole, aim for the gap above the trees to the left. Hit the ball as hard as you can. If the wind conditions are to your advantage, the ball will go quite far on to the fairway.
Your second shot is arguably the most annoying one. Depending on where the ball lands from your first shot, you may have to hit the ball around a large rock. Behind and to the right of the rock, but to the left of the trees, is a hill the can direct the ball into the hole. This is not always certain though, as the ball can stop rolling before the green, or can simply miss the hole. Some people have recommended hitting the middle of the hill, but my successful attempt was when I hit the ball to the outer (left) of the hill. If the ball rolls down in to the hole, you will unlock the "Roller Coaster" achievement.
Hit a condor on Hopscotch Coast - Having wind on your side will help you with this (Pro difficulty)
Load up Trident Harbour for the final Golf achievement. For this achievement, you need to hit an Albatross. An Albatross is when you finish the hole three under par. At the start of the hole, aim to the right to see an area of green under some trees. Use some Practice shots and hit the ball as hard as you can (depending on wind) towards this green. If you are lucky, the ball should hit the green and roll down the hill.
Hopefully the ball would have rolled quite far down the hill, but not too far, as you want to be able to see the hole for your next shot. Select a club that will allow you to hit the ball directly towards the hole. You should aim so that the ball either rolls or bounces towards the hole. This will take a few attempts, but once you are successful, you will unlock the "Trident Tested" achievement.
