3. Story walkthrough
The very first race is actually a tutorial; therefore, you won’t get an achievement for beating it. After the next race, you’ll earn an achievement for your first victory. Congrats, it will be one of many:
Win your first race (Single player)
In my opinion, the game actually gets easier as you progress. Not only do you start to learn the race mechanics, but you will unlock new stunts and abilities. Once I unlocked the front flip that was my go-to stunt, and if I can I’d chain that with a whip maneuver. As mentioned, chaining two unique tricks is how you get a big boost bonus. There are two achievements for performing stunts. These will come a lot quicker than you think. Besides aerial stunts, you can do a ‘sidewinder’ drift which happens almost automatically on a lot of turns. You’ll have done 1000s of stunts by the time you complete SP and MP.
After a few races you unlock shortcuts and recharges. Both of these require you collect a blue token, then press ‘Y’ to activate them when prompted. You’ll obtain these achievements on your way to completing Tournament Mode, so if you just race naturally you’ll get the associated achievements with ease. Same goes with the red boost tokens. You’ll collect far more than the number required for the achievement
Activate a Shortcut 50 times
Activate Recharge 66 times
Target zones are large yellow bullseyes located on the ground. These are introduced after the first few races. You can attempt to steer into them or in the air you can lean back or forward to land on them for a boost meter bonus. Sometimes though they’ll be out of reach based on how you took the jump initially. Don’t worry because there will be enough to get the achievement before your last single player race.
Land in the target zone 50 times
The final three achievements in single player task you at completing the Tournament Mode, and to take first and win all the races in both Tournament and Off Road Elite. This sounds harder than it looks, but is actually quite easy. I was winning by double digits in the final tournament cards, and Off Road Elite doesn't provide any additional challenge despite the name. Another factor to this as well is that you don’t have to earn all 3 stars in Checkpoint races, you simply need to pass them. Therefore, take first in Race, Stunt Race, and Arena, then simply finish the Checkpoint ones and take first in the one on one Ghost races. With the difficulty set to Easy you shouldn't have to worry if you fall of the side or make a wrong turn.
Win the last Tournament race (complete the tournament)
Win all "Offroad Elite" events
Win all races in all tournament cards including Offroad Elite races
Now we’re left with the multiplayer achievements. Winning isn’t everything here, 1st place finishes don’t earn substantially more than 2nd place and so on. As mentioned, stunts are your bread and butter, so don’t ever give up on a race; there is still XP to be earned regardless of position. You’ll need a total of 69,850 XP to reach Level 10. Doing an 8 minute Perfectionist race can get you 2000-3000 XP alone, so for the most XP you’ll want to choose that race type if you’re hosting a custom match. The multiplayer wasn't a grind for me because I was having a lot of fun and I’m guessing you will too.
Achieve level 10 in multiplayer
This concludes the walkthough for Mad Riders, barring any new DLC achievements. There is DLC planned for this title so it’s certainly a possibility. Be sure to check out the title’s game page here on TA for individual solutions, reviews, leaderboards, future DLC news and more. To get together with others to boost achievements or perhaps for some friendly competition, you can create a game session here, or search existing ones here.
