Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection Walkthrough

4. Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

Introduction

If you need to find (in this page) the part where I speak of a certain character's Dragon Universe playthrough, press CTRL+F to open the search function of your browser, and type "# [Name of the character] Dragon Universe". If you want to find the exact line where a certain character is unlocked, type "[Name of the character] (Silver Capsule)" instead. For example, type "# Goku Dragon Universe" to skip to the full walkthrough of Goku's Dragon Universe, and type "Cooler (Silver Capsule)" if you want to skip to the part where it's described how to obtain him. The characters with a Dragon Universe adventure are: Goku, Kid Gohan, Teen Gohan, Gohan, Vegeta, Krillin, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Uub, Broly.

The Dragon Arena and World Tournament achievements are detailed at the bottom of the page. You can type "# Dragon Arena" and "# World Tournament" to find these sections (or just scroll down).

Game Options

First of all you can modify the Game Options to set the Game Difficulty to Very Easy. This will make the Dragon Universe adventure easier, although you will also receive less Exp from the fights, thus leveling up a bit less than you would with higher difficulty settings. As explained in the General hints and tips, this is still a good deal: low-level characters can easily win fights on Very Easy difficulty, while high-level characters could miserably lose the fights on Very Hard (or harder) difficulty.

Keep in mind that you can change the difficulty at any time, even "during" a Dragon Universe playthrough, and the difficulty will be updated to whatever you currently have set in the Game Options. In other words, if you start on high difficulty settings for the sake of a challenge but then you realize it's too much for you, you can turn off the difficulty and continue with easier settings. It's up to you, really.

Achievements Quickrun

You should know from the Walkthrough Overview page that in this page you will find information on how to complete the achievements of this game first, and then a more detailed walkthrough of Dragon Universe will follow, character by character.

Dragon Universe is the "story mode" of this game. There is up to 11 characters (may of them must be unlocked first) that can be the character used in Dragon Universe, and for most of the achievements you'll need to clear Dragon Universe with each of them at least once. Playing Dragon Universe will unlock one achievement per character that clears this game mode, and also some miscellaneous achievements related to unlocking most of the playable characters. Some of the characters are not unlocked automatically by playing Dragon Universe, but must be obtained by visiting certain locations in certain sagas.

Let's have a quick look at the achievements-unlocking scheme of this game now.

Dragon Universe

Goku Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Vegeta, Recoome, Captain Ginyu, Frieza, Majin Buu, Super Buu, Kid Buu.

2. You can unlock Uub in the Majin Buu Saga by attacking Kid Buu with the Super Spirit Bomb attack. For this attack you must set up Spirit Bomb, Kaioken and Super Saiyan in your Custom Tray; then you need to enter Hyper Mode and launch the Ultimate Attack "Spirit Bomb". Win the gauge-filling minigame (so you receive the "Attack Win" message), so Goku transforms into Super Saiyan, thus changing the Spirit Bomb attack to the "Super Spirit Bomb" attack. If you do all of this correctly, the saga will not end after defeating Kid Buu, and you'll be able to continue with more story events that will make you unlock Uub.

3. On a second playthrough, during the Saiyan Saga, you can unlock Bardock by visiting the Saiyan Spaceship located Northeast on the map.

4. On a second playthrough, during the Saiyan Saga, you can unlock Kid Goku by visiting Grandpa Gohan's House after fighting Raditz and before fighting Nappa.

5. On a second playthrough you can unlock Broly and Omega Shenron; you can watch this video that shows the process described here with words. During the Majin Buu Saga reach the point where you fight Majin Buu (the "fat one") and advance to the story marker (the next "red dot" on the map) to trigger the scene where you see Super Buu absorbing Gohan. At this point there will be two story markers instead of just one: reach the one more West to trigger a scene with Kibitoshin. Continue to play the story and you will naturally end up facing Super Buu twice (once with Gohan-absorbed, the other time in the Inside Buu stage). After defeating Super Buu inside his own body, reach the Southeastern-most islands to find a sparkle on one of the islands; go there to receive the Super Saiyan 4 capsule for Goku. At this point there should already be a new red marker available; reach it to fight Broly and unlock him. After defeating Broly, visit West City to receive a "special" Dragon Radar from Bulma. Now you can continue with the story events to fight Gotenks at a tournament. At this point, head for Central City to trigger a cutscene, then fight and unlock Omega Shenron as playable character. Refer to the full walkthrough for more details

6. After clearing Dragon Universe with Vegeta other than Goku, play Goku's Dragon Universe a second time and continue until you defeat Frieza (with Goku) for the first time. At this point there will be three red markers on the map: go to the West-most of them to trigger a scene with Vegeta and defeat him in his Super Saiyan form. Continue with the following red markers to fight and defeat Cooler and unlock him as playable character.

Kid Gohan Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Teen Gohan.

Teen Gohan Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Cell and Gohan.

Gohan Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Goten, Dabura, Gt. Saiyaman.

2. Explore the islands Southeast in the world map to find a "Plains" area; visit it to unlock Videl.

3. On a second playthrough, reach the point before fighting Dabura at Babidi's Spaceship (it's after the first two story markers). At this point, fly towards the Northeast region of the map to find a hidden "Mountains" area. This area is located on the main continent by the small mountains Southwest of the snowy island (see this picture). After triggering the scene in the Mountains with Vegeta, follow the story to defeat Dabura and, instead of the usual Majin Buu, Majin Vegeta. After defeating Majin Vegeta, search a hidden "Plains" area somewhere just a bit Northeast of the forests located East of West City (see this picture) to unlock Supreme Kai.

Vegeta Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Kid Trunks and Trunks.

Krillin Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Android #18.

2. On a second playthrough during the Frieza Saga at one point there will be two red story markers (this occurs after the fight against Frieza in his Second Form state). You want to choose the one more East first (it's a Namek Village) to trigger an extra scene. Then continue with the story, and you will access the Androids Saga instead of ending the Dragon Universe playthrough with the Frieza Saga. In the Androids Saga, visit the island (on the South side of the map) where the World Tournament is, and you will find a "Plains" area. Visit it, then reach West City to unlock Android #16.

Piccolo Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Android #17.

2. You can unlock Hercule during the Majin Buu Saga. Trigger the first story event of the Majin Buu Saga (a cutscene), then fly just a inch Northwest of Baba's Palace to find a hidden "Desert" area. Visit it to receive a Yellow Capsule; then visit Central City to unlock Hercule.

Yamcha Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Dr. Gero.

Broly Dragon Universe

1. You naturally unlock Kid Goku.

Tien, Uub Dragon Universe

0. No characters are unlocked during their Dragon Universe playthroughs.

Dragon Arena

Two characters are unlocked in the Dragon Arena, a game mode that is unlocked after clearing Dragon Universe with the 10 "good" characters (everyone but Broly, who is optional to open the Dragon Arena). In Dragon Arena there are many opponents to choose from, but you want to fight the ones written below in particular (you can fight the opponents with a level as high as yours +30; if you have a level-32 character you can fight only opponents at level 62 at most), so you can trigger a "break-in", an event where you fight a different opponent than the chosen one. The break-in are random events, so you'll have to keep trying for a while until you get lucky and they eventually occur.

- Gohan level 32: fight him and eventually Nappa will "break in", meaning you fight him (Nappa) instead of Gohan. Win this "break-in fight" to unlock the Saibamen
- Gohan level 69: fight him and eventually Piccolo will "break in"; after beating Piccolo (break-in) you will unlock the Cell Jr.

World Tournament

There are four World Tournament modes to win: Novice, Adept, Advanced, Cell Games. Novice is available by default. You can buy a Silver Capsule (system capsule) to unlock the Adept tournament in the Skill Shop; it costs 6,000 Zenie and becomes available after unlocking at least 16 characters. You can buy the Silver Capsule to unlock the Advanced tournament in the Skill Shop for 6,000 Zenie; this one becomes available after unlocking 32 characters and after beating the Novice/Adept tournaments.

For the Cell Games you need to have beaten the three previous tournaments first; then you need to go back to the Dragon Arena and trigger another break-in. This time you want to fight against Cell Jr. level 55; Cell will eventually break in, and after defeating him you will receive the Silver Capsule that unlocks the World Tournament-Cell Games.

Dragon Universe

Below will follow a walkthrough of the eleven characters' Dragon Universe adventures. The walkthrough will be structured so you can find the location of the Dragon Radar/Dragon Balls available, the location of some extra items (Red, Green and Yellow Capsules), and also the location of optional scenes. In order to clear the game and get the achievements, most of these locations can be ignored, but let me say once again that this is a really good game, and it would be a pity to play only for the achievements. If that's your case, you only need to refer to the notes about unlocking the non-mandatory characters (refer to the lists in the Achievements Quickrun section of this page), but you can skip the rest of the info.

In addition to a text description, I will also add some custom maps where I've marked the position of the optional locations that we're going to visit. This should help you finding everything much more quickly, so make good use of them. I will also take advantage of the division of the in-game map in 16 areas to give you some easier references. In particular, I will name the four rows of the map grid with letters from A to D (A being the higher row, D being the lower), and the columns of the map grid with numbers from 1 to 4 (1 being the left-most one, 4 being the right-most). So if I say "this item is in B3", you will look for it in the second row, third column, like in this picture:

External image

In the text description, the mandatory events (the story-related events) will be listed with a numerical order. The optional events will be written line by line, and they will be preceeded by a " - " sign. This should prevent losing track of the moment of the story where a certain item is available.

Most of the time the optional items found are not specific, meaning that you can find multiple possible items in the same spot. For example, in a certain location you may always find a Red Capsule, but whether it will be a Kamehameha or a Dragon Fist skill is random. It's usually possible to identify a "group" of capsules found in these spots because they are not completely random. For example, during Goku's Dragon Universe you can visit Korin's Tower to receive a Yellow Capsule that is randomly one of these items: 1/3 Senzu Bean, 1/2 Senzu Bean, Senzu Bean. During Kid Gohan's Dragon Universe you can find a Red Capsule that is randomly a skill for Kid Gohan himself of for the members of the Ginyu Force. There is countless examples like this, and as you can imagine it's almost impossible to track down all the possible random items found in every optional location.

What's important to understand is that if a certain capsule is related to a specific character (let's say, it's a Red Capsule which contains a random skill for Kid Buu), the item will be available to pick up only if you've already unlocked that character. In our example, if you haven't unlocked Kid Buu as playable character you won't be able to find the Red/Green/Yellow Capsules related to him, even if you look in the right spot.

Dragon Balls are special items that you can find in each Dragon Universe playthrough. The Dragon Balls (seven in total, among all the sagas playable by that specific character) allow you to automatically summon Shenron when the Dragon Universe adventure of a character ends. You'll be granted one of these three wishes: Breakthrough (a Red Capsule which contains all the skills for that character), Memories of [Name of the character] (a system data which unlocks some voice data), a special Green Capsule which changes from character to character. The Breakthrough is the most interesting prize, so it should be the chosen one. You can collect the Dragon Balls as many times as you want and summon Shenron once per playthrough, so you can get the other prizes too if you replay Dragon Universe a second/third time.

The Silver/Gold/Black Membership Cards are Silver Capsules that unlock more items for sale at the Skill Shop. Every character can find these Membership Cards somewhere in his Dragon Universe, but you only need one Silver/Gold/Black Membership Card to unlock all the possible items for sale in the shop, so don't worry about getting them with every character. Whether you receive a Silver, a Gold or a Black Membership Card depends on your current level: if it's higher than 14 but lower than 30 you will get a Gold Membership Card; if it's lower than 14 it'll be a Silver Membership Card; if it's higher than 30 you will get a Black Membership Card.

Keep also in mind that the items found in the Dragon Universe are also available for sale (randomly) at the skill shop (you reach it from the main menu, exploring the "Skill Editing" feature). We'll see a way to make a lot of Zenie (the currency of this game) in relatively short time when speaking of Kid Gohan's Dragon Universe. Other than completionist reasons, there is no real reason to hunt down all the Red, Green and Yellow Capsules.

In some of the story-related fights it's possible to unlock a Voice Data (a bunch or recorded phrases from the original anime) by performing special actions. In these situations I will tell you what to do.

During the many playthroughs of Dragon Universe we are going to unlock all the characters (except Saibamen and Cell Jr., which must be unlocked in Dragon Arena) and their transformations except for Gotenks. This fusion can only be purchase in the Skill Shop for 30,000 Zenie. It's a rare article (it's a Red Capsule). Like every other character-specific capsule, it can only appear in the shop if you've unlocked the correspondent character (Kid Trunks and Goten in this case).

=============================
# Goku Dragon Universe - Part One
=============================

Saiyan Saga

Reference maps (Goku - Saiyan Saga).

- Right as you start you receive the Kamehameha (Red Capsule) attack for Goku: set it in his Custom Tray, so he can use it in battle

You can modify your skill set (Custom Tray) any time you want from the "Edit Skills" voice of the pause menu (press Start to access it while you are floating in the open world). Press Y while floating in the open world to prompt the map screen. Some things (optional collectibles, scenes, etc.) are only available in specific moments of the story progression. Story markers are indicated with red dots on the in-game map. Unless I specifically say so, do not advance with the story and focus on the collectibles first, just to be sure that you don't leave anything behind you.

Battle Point: fly North in the C3 area and explore the area to find a visible red crater. If you access it, you will enter an optional battle against a generic enemy. The Battle Points are limitless sources of fights against specific enemies which may change and evolve during the course of the story. Most of the time the opponent will be one or more Saibamen enemies. The level of the fights may change too; for example, during the Saiyan Saga the Saibamen fought at the Battle Points are very weak and earn little experience to level up. During the latest sagas, a Saibamen fought at the Battle Points may earn a far higher amount of experience. In any case you shouldn't spend time leveling up, since the game difficulty is quite low already, and as long as you upgrade your Attack parameter (it's the most useful one to speed up the killing process) with the level-ups made during the regular story-related fights you shouldn't need anything else to ace every fight.
In this case the Battle Point puts you against Saibamen x 2.

Dragon Balls locations (2/7):
- B3: the Dragon Radar can be found in a spot marked with a sparkle, the typical signal that hints the presence of an item to pick up, in a grassy area of the B3 region of the map grid. As you approach the correct spot, a scroll will appear in the upper-right corner of the screen, with the name of the area written on it. For generic areas such as this one the name will be "???". It's usually quite easy to find items, especially if you know where to look. Once acquired, the Dragon Radar allows you to toggle the in-game map by pressing Y again to display a "Dragon Radar view" of the world. With this view, the Dragon Balls will be clearly displayed as orange circles on your map. It's not possible to zoom-out the Dragon Radar, so you need to fly around and explore the whole world to eventually reach the regions where the radar will signal the presence of a Dragonball. Of course you can also simply follow this guide to know exactly where to find them, since their position is fixed (though it does change between characters, for a specific character in a specific saga they are always in the same spot)
- A1: reach the very small island in the Southwest corner of this region of the map. In the ocean on its West side there is a Dragonball
- A4: fly over the snowy island and help yourself with the Dragon Radar view to locate another Dragonball. This is the second and last one for the Saiyan Saga of Goku

- Fly to D3 and access the World Tournament area to trigger a fight against Tien. After you win, you'll be rewarded with a Green Capsule (Mysterious Vest, Sturdy Vest)
- In B1/C1 you can find Kami's Lookout and Korin's Tower. By accessing the former you can trigger an optional dialogue that will end up with you gaining a free level-up. Note that this will not work multiple times, and even if you start a new playthrough of Dragon Universe as Goku you won't be able to leech a free level-up again (not here and now, at least)
- Visit Goku's House in C3, then fly to West City in B2 to find Bulma. She will give you a Green Capsule (General Vest, Mysterious Vest)
- In A2 you can enter North City to receive a Yellow Capsule (Chicken & Egg Bowl, Senzu Seedling, Tempura Bowl)
- In A2 you can find a small island in the Southwest corner; it has another ??? sparkle, which earns you a Silver Capsule called [X] Membership Card, where [X] can be "Silver", "Gold", "Black", depending on the level of your character. Until level 14 included, it will be a Silver Membership Card. Then it will be Gold Membership Card up to level 29 included; from level 30 onwards you will be able to pick up the Black Membership Card. If your level is, say, 17, you can pick up both the Gold and the Silver Membership Card (if it's 30+ then you'll be able to pick up all the three cards, one after another). The Silver Capsules are special and rare "system" capsules which typically unlock game features (menus, settings), playable characters, playable stage/arenas, and even "technical" things like these cards which allow you to purchase more items in the Skill Shop. The Black Membership Card, the most prestigious of them all, unlocks the rarest items in the Skill Shop
- In A2 you can also find a ??? sparkle in the plains near the mountains. Access this area to get 5,000 Zenie
- In B2 you can find another ??? sparkle, also near the mountains on the West side, which earns you 5,000 Zenie
- In A1 there is a ??? sparkle on the Northeast end of the large rocky island. Examine it to get 8,000 Zenie
- In A3 you can find a ??? sparkle on the grassy areas, which earns you a Green Capsule (Moon Light, Full Moon's Glow, Potential)
- In C1 (not far from the limit with B1) there is another ??? sparkle on the grass; it's another Green Capsule (Sturdy Vest, Mysterious Vest)
- If you want, you can trigger optional dialogues and scenes by visiting other optional locations as well. These ones will not award you with something, so feel free to skip them. In case you decide to explore everything for personal completion's sake, visit also North City in A2 (you may already have triggered the events here though), East City in B4 (it's basically just where A3, A4, B3 and B4 meet), Korin's Tower in B1/C1, Baba's Palace in C1, Kame House in C4 (you can visit it twice in a row)

1. When you're satisfied with all the optional stuff, locate and head for the first story marker (red dot on the map) to reach a "Plains" area; press A to fight Raditz. In the fight make sure to attack with the Kamehameha at least once, so at the end of the fight you will also acquire an optional collectible (not related to achievements) called "Voice Data". In this case it will be Voice Data # 00. A simple and effective strategy for pretty much every fight, with low difficulty settings, is to spam the PPPPE combo (which, translated to xbox buttons, becomes: XXXXB; it's a combo of four hits followed by a Kamehameha).

After a bunch of dialogues, you'll be back on the world map again. There have been some updates here and there (other than a new story marker), with new locations to explore and new events to trigger. The first change is the Battle Point.

Battle Point: it's in C3, but in a different position than previously. It's closer to the Southern mountains this time, and puts you against Saibamen x 3.

- Fly over the Sky located East of West City, in B2, to trigger a short extra scene. Now fly to B1/C1 and enter Korin's Tower to receive a Yellow Capsule (1/3 Senzu Bean, 1/2 Senzu Bean, Senzu Bean). You won't be able to receive anything if you didn't visit the Sky location first
- In B1/C1 you can also access Kami's Lookout to receive another Yellow Capsule (Portable Barrier System, Portable Shield (Prototype), Supreme Kai's Water)
- In C3 you can access Goku's House to receive another Yellow Capsule (Gero Style Defense System, King-Kai's Water, Portable Shield (Improved))
- In C4 you can access Kame House to get a Yellow Capsule (Hercule Drink SP, Hercule Drink DX)

2. Once it's all done, reach the next story marker to trigger some scenes and receive the Kaioken (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku. Edit your Custom Tray manually to add it to your skill set. Note that although the game hints that you can transform by pressing Y+X+A at once (provided you have enough Ki gauges; 2 Ki for the Kaioken), a shortcut button for the transformations is RB, and for obvious reasons it's advisable to transform with RB instead than pressing YXA at once.
3. The next story marker is just where the previous one was: visit it too and defeat Nappa.

Battle Point: it's been moved to B2 now, and consists of a stronger Saibamen (only one this time).

- Fly between the two groups of mountains by the Northwest part of A3 to automatically enter a "Plains" area. You will receive the Spirit Bomb (Red Capsule) ultimate attack for Goku. Equip it in the Custom Tray as usual
- In B1 you can find an optional "Forest" area. Access it to trigger a cutscene. Then reach Korin's Tower (B1/C1) to receive a Yellow Capsule (Super Kami Water Drop)
- If you want, you can trigger optional scenes at Goku's House (C3) and in a random "Desert" area also in C3 (somewhere Northwest of the story marker

4. Double-check that you have 2/7 Dragonballs, then reach the next story marker. It's the last one of the Saiyan Saga, and it's the fight against Vegeta. At the end of it you will unlock the character Vegeta (Silver Capsule) and complete this first saga, thus proceeding with the Frieza Saga on Planet Namek. Feel free to save when the game asks you to do so.

Frieza Saga

Reference maps (Goku - Frieza Saga).

Dragon Balls locations (4/7):
- B4: there is a Dragon Radar on a small island. If you already got it earlier there is no concrete reason to pick up a new one (other than collecting it for the sake of removing the sparkle from the map)
- A4: Dragonball on the small island North of the main region
- B1: Dragonball on one of the very small islands Northeast

Battle Point: it's available in B2, and you can fight Saibamen x 3.

- In D4 you can access the Capsule House area twice in a row to receive the Turtle Shell (Green Capsule)
- In A4 there are three sparkling spots, plus a more hidden spot Southwest of them. The spots all read "Planet Namek", so it's hard to distinguish them. You can help yourself with the Ki Search feature here (press RB on the world map to see all the nearby visitable locations where there are other characters) to see the four of them. The real story-related destination is just the hidden one (Southwest-most of them), while the three sparkles are optional lines of dialogue

1. Defeat Recoome in battle at the first story marker. After the fight you will unlock the Planet Namek (Silver Capsule) stage, and you will also unlock Recoome (Silver Capsule) as a playable character.
- At this point you can get two more free level-ups if you visit two optional locations in the correct order. First of all, fly on the upper-right part of the main continent of B3 to automatically enter a namekian village. Here you will level up once automatically
- After doing this, fly to the small island in A1 to reach the Guru's House. Access this location to level up again. Note that if you visit Guru's House first you won't be able to visit the namekian village as well afterwards, so it's good to visit these two locations in this order to get both the free level ups

2/3. Reach the next story marker to defeat Captain Ginyu. After the fight you will unlock Captain Ginyu (Silver Capsule) as playable character.

Battle Point: it's still in B2; now you can fight a single Saibamen.

4. Continue with the story to defeat Frieza (Final Form).

Battle Point: same spot; now you can fight against Saibamen x 2.

- In the Southeast corner of C3 there is a sparkle near the spaceship used by Bulma & co.; go there to get a Green Capsule (Dende's Wish, Grandpa Gohan's Teachings, Puar's Wish)

5. Reach the that you will receive (equip it manually afterwards) the Super Saiyan (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku.
6. Reach the final red marker to trigger the fight against Frieza (100% Full Power). If you equipped the Super Saiyan capsule you will automatically unlock Voice Data # 05 after your victory.

After the fight you will unlock Frieza (Silver Capsule) as playable character, and then the saga will end.

Androids Saga

Reference maps (Goku - Androids and Majin Buu Sagas).

Dragon Balls locations (5/7):
- B2: another Dragon Radar can be obtained by visiting West City
- D4: the only Dragonball of this saga for Goku is found in the ocean where the map has a sort of white compass painted on

Battle Point: it's in C3; you can fight against Teen Gohan.

- In B1 you can find a "Time Machine" area. If you go there, you will engage an optional one-time-only battle against Metal Cooler
- In B2 there is a ??? sparkle on the grassy area, and it's worth a Red Capsule (Dragon Fist)
- In A3 there is a ??? sparkle in the plains between the mountains; it's worth 2,000 Zenie
- In D2 there is a ??? sparkle near South City; it's worth 8,000 Zenie
- In C1 there is a ??? sparkle near one of the isolated houses; it's the Viral Heart Disease (Green Capsule)
- In C4 there is a ??? sparkle in the plains just South of Grandpa Gohan's House; it's a Yellow Capsule (Chilled Juice, Chicken & Egg Bowl)
- In A3 there is a Plains hidden area just Northeast of the story marker; go here to get the Warp Kamehameha (Red Capsule) attack for Goku. This is a very particular attack, since it will trigger only if you successfully win the random button-pressing minigame of Dragon Rush (not the Ultimate Move animation, the one where you and your opponent must guess each other's button to deal damage/defend). It's kinda random to trigger, though it's cool and powerful indeed
- In B1/C1 you can visit Kami's Lookout to automatically gain +2 levels for free. This will work on the next playthroughs as well
- Back on the world map, use the Ki Search (press RB) on the lookout itself to "respawn" Korin's Tower and Kami's Lookout as visitable destinations. The latter earns you another Green Capsule (Mysterious Vest)
- If you want you can also visit optional locations for extra scenes: fly over the snowy island in A4 to automatically trigger a scene, visit a hidden Forest area of B1, Korin's Tower in B1/C1, a hidden Mountains area in C3, Goku's House also in C3, Kame House in C4, South City in D2

1. When you are satisfied, reach the only story marker of this saga to defeat Perfect Cell and complete this saga. You will automatically unlock the Cell Ring (Silver Capsule) stage too.

Majin Buu Saga

- As you start you receive the Super Saiyan 2 (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku; equip it

Dragon Balls locations (7/7):
- A3: Dragon Radar in the middle of the mountains
- A3: Dragonball in the middle of the mountains on the West
- D3: Dragonball in the water just South of some islands. Note that once you have all the seven Dragonballs you don't have to do anything to summon Shenron: he will automatically be summoned after clearing the current Dragon Universe playthrough

Battle Point: it's in B3, and you can fight against Metal Cooler.

- In B1 there is a ??? sparkle in a forest on the West side; it's worth 10,000 Zenie
- In A4 there is a ??? sparkle on the small non-snowy island Southwest; it's worth 5,000 Zenie
- In A2 you can enter North City to receive Yakon (Green Capsule)
- In A3 there is a ??? sparkle near the water Southeast; it's a Red Capsule (Death Beam, Dragon Fist, Sauzer Blade)
- In B1 there is a ??? sparkle in the middle of some forest on the East side; it's a Green Capsule (Last Ounce of Strength, Serious!!!, Serious!!)
- In B2 there is a Forest area to visit to get the Angel's Halo (Green Capsule)
- In B4 there is a ??? sparkle near the mountains East of Hercule City; go there to get a Green Capsule (Ginyu Force Badge, Going All-out!!)
- In C1 there is a ??? sparkle near the mountains/sandy hills; it's a Red Capsule (Death Beam, Kamehameha for Kid Goku)
- In C3 you can access Goku's House to receive a Yellow Item (Senzu Leaf, Chilled Juice)
- You can visit Hercule City in B4 and Babidi's Spaceship in C1 for optional scenes if you want

1. Reach the first red marker to fight Majin Vegeta.
2. Reach the next red marker for a scene.
- You can visit some optional locations: Goku's House in C3, Kame House in C4, West City in B2. The last one is a special location where you will also receive a "special" Dragon Radar, necessary to unlock Omega Shenron (playable character) on a second playthrough. It doesn't really matter on your first playthrough

Battle Point: it's been moved to A1, on the rocky island. The enemy is still Metal Cooler.

3. Fly to the next red marker to automatically trigger the fight against Majin Buu. Before that you will also acquire the Super Saiyan 3 (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku. After the fight you will unlock Voice Data # 13 without really doing anything (the requirement is to go into Super Saiyan 3 mode, but you already start the fight in this condition). You also unlock Majin Buu (Silver Capsule) as playable character.
- Remember to manually equip the skill Super Saiyan 3 after the fight if you want it for future battles

Battle Point: it's been moved to a quite original position, in D2, just North of South City. The enemy is the usual Metal Cooler.

4. Continue with the next story marker.
- If you want, there's a hidden ??? point in D1 (near the mountains/sandy hills) and another one in B3 (somewhere Southwest of this region, in the desert part) for a couple of extra scenes
- Save the game before continuing with the story, just to be safe

5. Proceed with the next story marker to receive the Potara [Vegito] (Red Capsule) fusion for Goku. Fusions occupy all the 7 skill slots of a character, though they are also extremely powerful. A fusion is triggered like a sort of Ultimate Attack: you need to hit the enemy while you are in Hyper Mode with a certain amount of Ki, then win a minigame (it's a random minigame for the Potara fusion; for the non-Potara fusions you only need to press a series of buttons displayed on the screen correctly). Anyway, you will fight Super Buu (Gohan absorbed), then you will unlock Super Buu (Silver Capsule) after the fight.
5 (Cont.) Another fight will trigger after the previous one. This one is somehow tricky (I can't really use the word "hard") since the health of the fighters will constantly drop during the fight, and you're probably still with the original life bars while your opponent has much more health to start with. Be quick with your attacks, stick with simple combos (XXXXY for instance) and play offensive. At the end of the fight you will also unlock the Absorption (Red Capsule) skill/transformation for Super Buu.

You may notice that there are no Battle Points available anymore, so you have to rely on your own strength to defeat Kid Buu, the last regular fight of this saga with Goku. Before engaging the battle, check that you have the following skills equipped: Kaioken, Super Saiyan, Spirit Bomb. You want to kill Kid Buu with the Super Spirit Bomb attack to unlock a Voice Data and other things after the fight. Save the game to be safe in case you miss.

7. Fight Kid Buu at the last regular story marker. Again, make sure to use the Super Spirit Bomb, the Ultimate Attack which triggers when you attack as Goku (base form, no transformations) with the normal Spirit Bomb (Ultimate Attack) and causes Goku to automatically transform to SSJ during the attack. Also make sure to win the power gauges minigame of the Ultimate Attack itself (the one where you need to fill a gauge more than your opponent by stopping the indicator when the gauge is full in order to properly land the Ultimate Attack and avoid a miss/guard by the enemy). If everything is done correctly, you will unlock Voice Data # 16.

After the fight you will unlock Kid Buu (Silver Capsule) as playable character. If you did everything correctly (in particular, if you succeeded the "power gauge confrontation" when attacking with the Super Spirit Bomb) the saga will continue.

- Fly to D4 and locate the ??? sparkle on one of the small islands; go there to receive the Super Saiyan 4 (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku!
- There is a Battle Point in B2 (the enemy is Vegeta) if you want...
8. Reach the World Tournament red marker to fight Uub and unlock him as playable character after the fight by receiving the Uub (Silver Capsule).

At this point the saga will end and Shenron will finally be summoned. You can pick one of the three wishes offered:
- Breakthrough (Goku)
- Memories of Goku
- Mysterious Vest (Green Capsule)

The first two are unique, while the third one is always a generic Green Capsule which can be acquired alternatively too. As explained earlier, the Breakthrough wish earns you a Breakthrough Red Capsule, which contains all the skills of a certain character (excluding fusions), and it's always the best choice to pick up. The "Memories" is a system data (some original voice collections) for fans and completionists. The third wish is the aforementioned generic Green Capsule, and should be chosen as wish only if you've already picked the other two in earlier playthroughs.

Once your wish has been granted, the credits will finally roll. You can't skip them the first time around, but in the future you'll be able to press Start to quickly skip them.

You will also unlock this achievement for the completion of Goku's Dragon Universe:

Now that you've completed Dragon Universe with Goku once you can start another playthrough of Dragon Universe with other characters or with Goku. There are several reasons to play again with Goku (or, more generally, with the same characters with whom you've already beaten Dragon Universe once). In particular, some events will only become available if you replay Dragon Universe after completing it a first time. Goku's Dragon Universe is a bit particular, since there is a specific event (to unlock Cooler) which triggers only if you already finished the Dragon Universe with Vegeta too. For this reason it's advisable to make the second playthrough of Goku's Dragon Universe after Vegeta's first playthrough.

Frieza Saga

Dragon Balls locations (4/7):
- C4: Dragon Radar on the bigger island
- C4: Dragonball on the smaller island just North/Northwest of the Dragon Radar
- C2: Dragonball on the bigger island, where a village is

Battle Point: it's in B4; you can fight against Saibamen x 2.

- In B2 there is a ??? sparkle on the South part of the major island Northwest; visit it to get the Final Impact (Red Capsule) attack
- In A3 there is a ??? sparkle on the island on the East side; it's a Yellow Capsule (Gero Style Defense System, Portable Shield (Prototype))
- If you want to trigger extra scenes you can access a Planet Namek area in B2 (Southeast of this region), and a Namek Village in B3 (towards North)

1/2. Reach the first red markers to fight Recoome. After the fight you will receive the Planet Namek (Silver Capsule) stage capsule.

3/4. Continue to the next two red markers to fight Frieza (First Form).
- In D2 there is a new ??? sparkle on a small island; it's a Yellow Capsule (Hercule Drink, Super Holy Water Bottle)

Battle Point: it's still in the same position, but the opponent now is Krillin.

Dragon Balls locations (5/7):
- B2: Dragon Radar on the plains near the waterside
- D2: Dragonball in the ocean Suotheast in this region

Battle Point: it's in C3, on the peninsular appendix on the East side; you can fight against Saibamen x 2.

- In B2 you can enter West City to obtain the Final Flash (Red Capsule) attack. This skill will be necessary for a Voice Data later on, so make sure to equip it
- In A2 there is a ??? sparkle on the small island Northwest; it's worth 8,000 Zenie
- In C3 you can enter Goku's House to get the Vaccine (Yellow Capsule)
- In B3 there is a ??? sparkle in the water; it's a Red Capsule (Galick Gun, Break Cannon for Nappa, Finish Buster for Trunks)

1. Reach the red marker (if you try to use the Ki Search to locate the spot you will appreciate how it won't work, since the Androids do not emit energy that can be perceived) to fight Android #17 and Android #18, one after another.

Battle Point: it's been moved to B2; you can fight against Trunks.

- In B1 you can check the Time Machine to receive a Green Capsule (Ultimate Power, Saiyan's Awakening)
- In C1/B1 you can access Kami's Lookout to gain two free level-ups
- If you want you can trigger optional scenes in a Mountains area in C2 (near C1, on the mountains/sandy hills)

2. Continue to the next red marker to fight Cell (Android #17 absorbed). Make sure to win with more than 2,500 HP remaining, that is to say with more than two and a half life bars. This means you need to preserve at least half of the green gauge (the third one), other than the yellow and orange bars "under" the green one of course. The reward for satisfying this condition will be Voice Data # 08.

3. Make sure that you have equipped Final Flash in your Custom Tray (Super Saiyan is needed to access this move too), then reach the next red marker to fight Cell (Perfect Form). In the battle, transform to Super Saiyan, enter Dragon Rush mode and hope for some luck to win the button pressing minigame: if you succeed to guess a button different from your opponent's, at the end of the Dragon Rush duel you will attack with Final Flash. By doing this you will unlock Voice Data # 09.

After the fight the Androids Saga will end.

Majin Buu Saga

Reference maps (Vegeta - Majin Buu Saga).

- As the saga begins you receive the Babidi's Mind Control (Green Capsule) special equipment/transformation capsule, which cannot be un-equipped for now. On the other hand, it's a very powerful transformation that you're probably going to like

Dragon Balls locations (7/7):
- B2: Dragon Radar found just in the same spot as the previous saga

- If you want you can trigger the usual optional scenes in a Forest area in B1, West City in B2, World Tournament in D3

1. Reach the first red marker to receive the Super Saiyan 2 (Red Capsule) transformation for Vegeta and fight Goku.

Battle Point: it's been moved to A4, on the main continent; you can fight against Metal Cooler this time.

2. Continue to the next red marker to fight Majin Buu. In this fight you want to charge 7/7 Ki gauges to launch the Final Explosion Ultimate Attack. If you succeed, at the end of the fight you will unlock Voice Data # 12.

Regardless of how you win, after the fight you will unlock Kid Trunks (Silver Capsule) as playable character. Reset your Custom Tray however you like it (you can equip Babidi's Mind Control if you want, but unfortunately it's one of those special capsules that will be voided once you enter battle in Dragon Universe, i.e. even if you equip it you won't become Majin Vegeta, so just don't equip it again).

- In B2 you can access a Forest area on a small island; do so to get a Green Capsule (Rage!)

3. Advance to the next red marker to receive the Potara [Vegito] (Red Capsule) fusion for Vegeta and enter battle with Super Buu (Gohan absorbed) and then Super Buu again (normal form). After the second fight you will unlock the stage Inside Buu (Silver Capsule). A third fight will ensue afterwards, this time against Kid Buu, and you will unlock the stage Supreme Kai's World (Silver Capsule) too.

At the end of the fights the Majin Buu saga will be over, and you will unlock Trunks (Silver Capsule) as playable character as well. This will earn you an achievement:

Second Playthrough

Reference maps (Vegeta - Second Playthrough - Majin Buu Saga).

Saiyan Saga

There are no news for this saga, so you can play it regularly like the first run.

Frieza Saga

- When you start, you can reach the meeting point of A1, A2, B1, B2 to find a sparkling spot on the island; it's a Red Capsule (Finish Buster)

1 to 4. Defeat Recoome and Frieza (Final Form).

5. There will be two red markers at this point. The one more West, in C1, is the original fight against Frieza (Final Form). The one more East, in C2, is a new scene -- choose this one.

Battle Point: it's in the usual spot, in B4; the new opponent will be Piccolo this time.

6. Defeat Cooler at the last red marker. This will end the saga.

Androids Saga

- In C3 go directly North of Goku's House to find a sparkle on the plains; it's a Green Capsule (Sturdy Fiber Jacket)

The rest of the saga plays out normally. Remember to stop by Kami's Lookout after defeating the Androids #17 and #18, so you get a couple of free level-ups.

Majin Buu Saga

Here there are major differences with the first playthrough. You can trigger two different developments of the plot, each leading to capsules that you couldn't get on your first run. You can get the Gogeta SSJ2 fusion (for Vegeta) with one development, and Vegeta SSJ4 plus Gogeta SSJ4 fusion (for Vegeta) with the other development.

- Either way, in D4 there is a ??? sparkle on an island; it's a Red Capsule (Super Saiyan 2 for Trunks)
- Also regardless of the development you want to trigger, you can engage an optional battle against Gohan in C4 (on the main continent, in a Plains area) or against Piccolo in a Mountains area of A3. Either battle has the same value of the regular fight against Goku at the regular red marker, so you will advance with the story

1. Fight Goku/Piccolo/Gohan.
2. Defeat Majin Buu.
- Now go in A4, in the snowy island, and trigger a scene with Kibitoshin in the Muscle Tower area

3. Continue with the next red marker to defeat Super Buu (Gohan absorbed) and Super Buu (the fight in Inside Buu).

At this point you can see a new red marker, and you can either decide to go after Gogeta SSJ2 or after Vegeta SSJ4 and Gogeta SSJ4.

5a. For Gogeta SSJ2, reach the red marker in B3 to fight Broly
- You can find a ??? sparkle on the rocky island in A1; it's a Green Capsule (Power Save System)
- Near the sparkle of A1 there is also a Battle Point; the opponent is Goku
- In A4 there is a ??? sparkle on the small grassy island Southwest; it's a Red Capsule (Super Saiyan 2 for Trunks)
- In C1 there is another ??? sparkle Northwest of Baba's Palace; it's a Green Capsule (Turtle Shell)
- If you want, visit Goku's House in C3 for an optional scene
6a. After the fight continue to the next red marker in D3 (World Tournament) to receive the Fusion [Gogeta] (Red Capsule) fusion for Vegeta and fight Gotenks. This will end the Dragon Universe adventure.

5b. For Vegeta SSJ4 and Gogeta SSJ4, ignore the red marker at first and fly above the islands in D4 to find a Plains area that you will automatically access, triggering a cutscene. Then go after Broly again (red marker in B3).
- At this point there is a new red marker, but you don't want to visit it yet. Instead, go in C1 to find a Plains area to visit. Trigger the scene here, then go to West City in B2 to receive the Super Saiyan 4 (Red Capsule) transformation for Vegeta. Make sure to equip it
6b. Now reach the red marker in D4 to fight Goku; transform to Super Saiyan 4 during the battle, so you can unlock Voice Data # 17 at the end of the fight. Either way, after the fight you will receive the Fusion [Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta] (Red Capsule) fusion for Vegeta, and the saga will end.

==============================
# Goku Dragon Universe - Part Two
(Second/Third Playthroughs)
==============================

Reference maps (Goku - Second/Third Playthrough).

Saiyan Saga

- In A3, on the East of the mountains, you can access the Saiyan Spaceship area. Do so to unlock Bardock (Silver Capsule) as playable character

1. Defeat Raditz.

- In A4 there is a ??? sparkle in the small grassy island Southwest; it's a Green Capsule (Kanassan-made Guard, Patched-up Battle Jacket, both for Bardock)
- In C4 you can enter Grandpa Gohan's House to unlock Kid Goku (Silver Capsule) as playable character

2 to 4. Complete the story events to defeat Nappa and Vegeta and proceed to the next saga.

Frieza Saga

- In C2 you can access a Namek Village; do so to receive King-Kai's Wish (Green Capsule)
- In C2 there is a ??? sparkle on the island East; it's Frieza's Space Ship (Green Capsule for Frieza)
- In C4 there is a ??? sparkle on the smallest island (somewhere Southeast); it's a Red Capsule (100% Full Power for Frieza)
- In D1 there is a ??? sparkle on the island at the center of this region; it's a Red Capsule (Second Form for Frieza)

1. Defeat Recoome.
- Visit the Namek Village in B3 and Guru's House in A1 to gain a couple of free levels if you want
2/3. Defeat Captain Ginyu.
4. Defeat Frieza.

At this point on your map there will be two or three red dots, depending on whether you finished Vegeta's Dragon Universe at least once (three dots in this case) or not (two dots only). The original story marker is in D3, and it's the one you're going to ignore.

The other two red markers offer two different developments for the story, and the West-most one, in C1, is the preferrable option. If you visit the red marker in B3/C3 you will trigger a series of events that will make you fight against Cooler and then Metal Cooler. This, however, will not let you unlock anything new for now. The best choice is therefore the red dot in C1.

5. (Red marker in C1) Visit this marker to trigger a scene with Vegeta.
6. Reach the next red marker to fight against Vegeta SSJ.
7/8. A new red marker will appear in B3; visit it for a scene, and then visit it again to fight against Cooler. At the end of the fight you will unlock Cooler (Silver Capsule) as playable character. The saga will also end.

Androids Saga

- Visit Kami's Lookout to gain +2 free levels if you want

1. Defeat Cell to advance to the next saga.

Majin Buu Saga

Follow the steps from # 5 onwards carefully, so you can change the course of the events and unlock Broly and Omega Shenron.

1. Defeat Majin Vegeta.
2/3. Continue with the story to defeat Majin Buu.
4. Reach the next story marker (in C1/D1) to trigger the scene where Gohan is absorbed by Super Buu.

5. At this point there will be two red markers on the map, both in B3. The one you want is the South/West-most one (near which there is also an optional ??? marker, which is the scene with Tien). Visit this red marker to trigger a scene with Kibitoshin.

6. When it's done, the only red marker left will be the original story-related one: visit it to trigger the fights against Super Buu (Gohan absorbed; you play as Vegito) and Super Buu (base form; it's fought in the Inside Buu arena).

After the fight against Super Buu you'll be back on the world map instead of triggering the usual fight against Kid Buu. There is a red marker just near your position, but don't go there yet. Instead, do the following things first:

- In D4 there is a ??? hidden spot on one of the islands Northeast; visit this place to receive the Super Saiyan 4 (Red Capsule) transformation for Goku
- In B3 there is a ??? hidden spot by the plains on the West side (near the B2 region); visit it to trigger a scene with Kibitoshin and receive a Green Capsule (Warrior Race's Awakening)
- In A4 there is a ??? sparkle on the small snowy island located West; it's a Green Capsule (Concentration, Gero's Deflection R&D, Gero's Deflect-Back R&D)
- In C1 there is a ??? sparkle on the mountains/sandy hills near the ocean. It's a Green Capsule (Portable Shield (Prototype))
- In D1 there is a ??? sparkle on the peninsular appendix on the East side (grassy area); it's a Red Capsule (Dragon Fist for Goku, Rock-Scissors-Paper for Kid Goku)
- In D3 there is a ??? sparkle just North of the World Tournament; it's a Green Capsule (Warrior's Career, Meditation, Ki Control)

Battle Point: it's in B3, on the grassy plains just Northeast of the red marker; you can fight against Metal Cooler.

7. Now you can reach the new red marker to fight against Broly. After defeating him you will unlock Broly (Silver Capsule) as playable character.

Battle Point: is' been moved to B1; you can fight against Piccolo.

There is a red marker available in B2, but you want to ignore it. Instead, reach West City, also in B2, to trigger an optional scene with Bulma. You will receive a Dragon Radar and change the course of the events (the red marker will move to the World Tournament).

- If you want you can trigger an optional scene at Goku's House in C3

8. Reach the red marker to defeat Gotenks as Gogeta in a special fight with unlimited Ki. Before the fight you will also receive the Fusion [Gogeta] (Red Capsule) fusion for Goku.

Battle Point: it's been moved to C4/D4; you can fight against Uub.

- In B2 you can enter West City to receive a Green Capsule (Yakon, Warrior's Career, Breathing Room of the Strongest)
- You can visit Kami's Lookout (C1/B1) for an optional scene

9. Reach the last red marker in B3 (Central City) to receive the Fusion [Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta] (Red Capsule) and defeat Omega Shenron. Do your best to land the Ultimate Attack 100X Big Bang Kamehameha on the enemy (win the gauge-filling minigame too), so you will also unlock Voice Data # 18 at the end of the fight. Either way you will unlock Omega Shenron (Silver Capsule) as playable character after the fight, thus also unlocking:

Frieza Saga

- In A2 there is a ??? sparkle on the main island; it's a Green Capsule (Shadow Dragon's Hide for Omega Shenron)

1. Defeat Recoome.
- Visit the usual Namek Village and Guru's House to gain +2 levels
2 to 4. Defeat Captain Ginyu and Frieza.

5. At this point there will be three red dots on your map, like in the second playthrough. Choose the one in B3/C3 this time. You will trigger a scene with Cooler.
6. Defeat Cooler.
7. Reach the next red marker to trigger a scene with Metal Cooler.
- In B3 there is a ??? sparkle; it's Cooler's Space Ship (Green Capsule for Cooler)

8. Defeat Metal Cooler at the last red marker to end this saga.

Androids Saga

Nothing new here; remember to visit Kami's Lookout to gain a couple of extra levels before fighting Cell.

Majin Buu Saga

- In D3 there is a ??? sparkle on the island Northeast of the World Tournament; it's a Green Capsule (Porunga's Hide for Omega Shenron)

To be sure, the story marker is the Northern-most of the two "Mountains" areas on the East side, so avoid it and access the one immediately more South (closer to the water) of it, and then the other two "Mountains" areas just West of the story marker itself
- For other extra scenes you can also visit Baba's Palace in C1, South City in D2, World Tournament in D3

1 to 5. Follow the story points (the first one triggers automatically if you fly over the area). At the fifth one you will receive Unlock Potential (Red Capsule) transformation for Gohan.

6 to 9. Follow more story points (there's three in a row in the same spot) to enter the fight against Recoome. At the end of it you will unlock the stage Planet Namek (Silver Capsule).
- The Battle Point is not available anymore at this point
- After the fight you can go to to D3 and look for a very small island with a sparkle leading to a "Planet Namek" area; go there to receive a Yellow Capsule (Centipede Eel Soup, Extremely Chilled Juice, Well Chilled Juice)

10/11. Continue with the story to fight Frieza.

After the fight the Dragon Universe with Kid Gohan will end, and you will automatically unlock the character Teen Gohan (Silver Capsule).

Second Playthrough

Saiyan Saga

1. Right as you start you can see two story markers. The original one is the "Mountains" area in C3, while the new marker is in C4 and is a "Forest" area. Reach the Forest to unlock a secondary development of the plot.
- Two new items can be collected after visiting the Forest area, in addition to some of the original ones. In particular...
- In D4 there is a ??? sparkle on a very small island, worth 12,000 Zenie
- In A4 there is a ??? sparkle in the ocean, worth 23,000 Zenie
- You can also still collect 5,000 Zenie from the larger island in D3, the plains in B3, and the snowy mountains in A4, for a grand total of 50,000 Zenie. Then you can save the game, quit and start a new playthrough with Kid Gohan, visit the Forest area again and repeat the process to get 50,000 more Zenie in just a minute or so. This is the fastest way to get Zenie in the game. Here is a picture showing the five Zenie spots:

- Just North/Northwest of South City, on the same island as the city itself, there is a new ??? sparkle worth a Red Capsule (Soaring Dragon Strike, Kamehameha for Teen Gohan)
- After the fight with Piccolo, instead of fighting Krillin (red marker) you can fight Tien in C3 (Mountains) or Yamcha in A2 (North City). Either of the two fights will advance with the story like if you fought Krillin regularly

The rest of the saga plays the same way. Another minor difference is that the two Red Capsules available after the first fight against Cell will be available also before that fight, but the prizes are the same.

# Piccolo Dragon Universe

1. Reach the first red marker to receive the Special Beam Cannon (Red Capsule) attack. Make sure to equip it, since it's necessary to get the Voice Data in the next fight.

2. Continue to the second red marker and defeat Raditz. To attack with the Special Beam Cannon attack (so you can unlock Voice Data # 01 after the fight) you need to enter Dragon Rush mode (press LT), then trigger a Dragon Rush "duel" (a simple way is to land the XXXXLT combo, so you strike with a Destruction Wave attack which triggers the "duel" of random buttons), and then cross your fingers and hope that the opponent won't press the same button as you do. With the lowest difficulty settings, most of the time the opponent won't press the same button twice in a row, so if you see that the CPU chose, say, B the first time (assuming you didn't choose B the first time too, otherwise the "Dragon Rush duel" will end of course), the second time it should be safe to press B because the CPU shouldn't choose B again. It's still mostly random of course, but it helps to know that the CPU likes to change the chosen button, at least with low difficulty settings. If you succeed, Voice Data # 01 will be yours.

Battle Point: it's been moved to C3; the opponent will be Piccolo.

- In A1 you there is a hidden Mountains area on the rocky island; go there to receive Piccolo's Regeneration (Green Capsule)

Battle Point: it's been moved back to B1; the opponent this time is Krillin.

5/6. Continue to the next two red markers to fight a Saibamen.

Battle Point: it's been moved yet another time, and it's currently in B2. Krillin is still the opponent.

7/8. Proceed to the next red markers to fight Nappa and complete the Saiyan Saga.

4. Continue to the last red marker to defeat Android #17. After the fight you will unlock Android #17 (Silver Capsule) and the Androids Saga will end

3. You will notice that there are two red markers now, extremely close to each other. You want to reach the East-most one; help yourself with Ki Search to pick the right one (press RB and make sure that you've "chosen" the right spot; you can see a sort of dark glowing sphere in correspondence with the location chosen). You know you chose the right spot if you get a scene with Dende and you receive Dende's Wish (Green Capsule).

4. There will be two red markers again, this time far from each other. The one you want to choose is the one in C3. Beware that next to the red marker there is another "Planet Namek" spot that you may enter (it's closer to a spaceship than the red marker, which is located a bit South of the spaceship). If you access this secondary spot instead of the red marker, you will get to fight Frieza in his Final Form by following the upcoming red markers. If you choose the red marker in C3 instead, you will fight Cooler first, then Metal Cooler, and this is the route you want to take. If you choose the other red marker instead of the one in C3 you will fight against Frieza (Final Form).

Either way, the saga will end.

Androids Saga

1. Defeat Dr. Gero.
- Visit Baba's Palace in C1 for a scene; this will change the development of the plot of this saga
2. Fight Cell at the red marker.
3. A new red marker will appear now, and there you can fight Cell in his Perfect Form status instead of the usual Android #17. This will end the saga.

Majin Buu Saga

- As soon as you start, go to B3 and locate the small lake with a small forest nearby (they're on the East end of this region of the map). Hover in this area to eventually find, somewhere East/Northeast of the small lake, a hidden "Sky" area to access (you can't find it with Ki Search, so just float around randomly). You should be able to enter if you fought Metal Cooler and Perfect Cell; otherwise this area may not appear

The red marker will now be moved to a different position than the original spot. You can also get some new stuff as well:
- In B4 there is a ??? sparkle Northeast of Hercule City, in the middle of the mountains; it's a Green Capsule (Yakon, Babidi's Scope)
- In D2 there is a ??? sparkle Southeast of South City; it's worth 10,000 Zenie
- If you want, in B3 there is a Plains area to visit for an extra scene

1. Defeat Dabura at the new red marker.
2. Defeat Broly to complete the Dragon Universe adventure.

During the Dragon Adventure, Broly will permanently be transformed to this state, and this skill will be automatically equipped (this means that you won't be able to equip a Breakthrough capsule once you get it). You don't get a special attack by default, but you will soon find some Red Capsules for Broly here and there in the world map

2. Continue to the next story marker to fight Kid Trunks.
- You can trigger an optional scene at Goku's House in C3 if you want

3. Proceed to defeat Goten.

Battle Point: it's still in the same spot, but now you can fight against Saibamen x 4.

4. Reach the next red marker to receive the Gigantic Meteor (Red Capsule) ultimate attack for Broly. A fight against Gohan will trigger immediately afterwards. If you attack him with Gigantic Meteor (win the gauge-filling minigame too) you will unlock Voice Data # 19 at the end of the fight, but this might not be possible if you didn't purchase and equipped this skill on your own earlier (you just got Gigantic Meteor, but you don't get a chance to equip it, and it's not automatically added to your special moves list). If you didn't happen to have it already, you'll need to get this Voice Data on a second playthrough.

Battle Point: it's been moved to D4, and oddly enough it's in the ocean; you can fight against Metal Cooler.

5. A new red marker will appear; instead of fighting Gohan again this time you can battle Goku. The saga will end afterwards.

# Dragon Arena

After clearing Dragon Universe with the 10 good characters (everyone but Broly) you receive the Dragon Arena Ticket (Silver Capsule). With this "system data" item, the Dragon Arena mode is added in the main menu, below the game Options.

Dragon Arena consists of a long list of fighters (almost 400) at different levels, each with his own stats. As a general rule, the higher the level of the opponents, the higher the COM stat of this opponent. This is because, as we mentioned earlier in this walkthrough, the difficulty in Dragon Arena is determined only on the opponent's COM parameter, and not on the game options.

Fighting in the Dragon Arena is mostly optional, and can award you a lot of Exp (the stronger the opponent, the higher the Exp you receive), some special capsules (all those of the "WE GOTTA POWER" and "Sparkling" series; the former is a Green Capsule that earns more Exp after the fights; the latter is a Green Capsule that earns more Zenie when winning the World Tournaments), and especially the last two characters (Saibamen and Cell Jr.) and the World Tournament-Cell Games (Silver Capsule).

You'll be able to face the opponents at a level as high as your level +30, so if you are level 25 you can fight enemies up to level 55. To fight the strongest foes at level 99 therefore you need to be at least at level 69.

When fighting in the Dragon Arena, you may occasionally be prompted a message saying that "an opponent suddenly broke in". This message foretells that the battle that you're about to fight will not be against the opponent you chose, but will be against a different opponent, stronger than the one you desired, also in a different arena for what matters. The Break-In system is the key to receiving the random prizes available (those highlighted two paragraphs ago), and indeed you will receive a specific prize for a specific enemy that breaks in, provided you can beat him of course.

The enemy that is going to break in depends on two factors: the level of the enemy you fight and the level of the character you are using to fight. The arena you choose does not influence the break-in, so you can choose whatever you prefer (usually the Hyperbolic Time Chamber is a good choice because it prevents those time-consuming moves when you push your opponent towards a particular spot of the battlefield and a cutscene triggers, showing him flying away, smashing onto rocks, being chased after by a dinosaur, etc.).

The level of the enemy you fight simply determines whether or not you are choosing the correct opponent. Keep in mind that there is not a specific opponent or a specific level: if a certain break-in occurs against, say, Bardock level 32, nothing prevents the same break-in to occur against Nappa level 35. It is however possible to identify a specific level and a specific character that works the best (i.e. has the highest chances of triggering a break-in). It may rarely happen that a different break-in triggers instead of the expected one; it's bad luck, just keep trying until you get what you want.

As for your own character's level, many people mistakenly state one of these two things: you need to be at a level lower than half the level of your opponent; you need to be at a level lower than your opponent. Both of these statements are false: you can trigger break-in fights even if you fight with a level-99 character against a level-18 enemy (if that's the correct one). It seems true though that the higher your level, the lower the odds of triggering the break-in. To make a practical example, I had to try for 15 minutes to trigger a certain break-in with a level 99 Goku against Gohan level 32 (to unlock Saibamen, as we're going to see soon); when I tried with brand new characters at level 18 and 26, the break-in occurred twice within 5 minutes. Considering that you only have to win three prizes in total, it's not worth bothering with a speculation on whether it's better to fight with your highest-level characters or a brand-new character: do as you prefer, just know that it might be faster with the lower-level character.

After choosing an opponent and entering battle with him it's also possible to press Start and choose "Reselect characters". This will take you back to the opponent selection screen, and is a quick way to retry. The thing is, whether the Break-In occurs or not is something you know immediately as the fight begins: if the opponent is the one you chose, it didn't happen; if you clearly receive a message stating that someone broke in, then it obviously happened. There is no particular reason to fight and defeat the chosen opponent if you don't trigger the break-in (other than killing time and boredom), so you can actually keep reselecting characters until you finally receive the break-in message. I can confirm that eventually, if you're choosing the correct opponent, the break-in will occur even if you never fight the chosen opponent and instead you keep reselecting characters.

The important prizes

Of all the prizes available, the only ones related to achievements are the two characters capsules and the system capsule that unlocks the Cell Games. You want to keep trying the following opponents:

1. To unlock Saibamen, keep fighting level-32 Gohan. Nappa will eventually break in, and after winning you will receive Saibamen (Silver Capsule).
2. To unlock Cell Jr., keep fighting level-69 Gohan. Piccolo will eventually break in, and after winning you will receive Cell Jr. (Silver Capsule).
3. To unlock the World Tournament "Cell Game", make sure that you've won the World Tournament on the three possible difficulty settings (Novice, Adept, Advanced; refer to the next section for more details), then keep fighting level-55 Cell Jr. . Cell will eventually break in, and after winning you will receive World Tournament-Cell Games (Silver Capsule).

Saibamen should be the last game character you need to unlock this:

Secret Achievement54 (35)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player. Continue playing to unlock this secret achievement. (Secret)

Cell Jr. should be the last game character you need to unlock this:

Secret Achievement55 (35)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player. Continue playing to unlock this secret achievement. (Secret)

If you decide to use a brand-new character (I suggest doing this), the best choice is Kid Buu. The reason is simple: he's powerful and only needs to equip two Kamehameha (Kid Buu) Red Capsules to be ready to fight at full power (the rest of the Custom Tray can be filled with whatever you want, such as attack-enhancing green capsules and miscellaneous). He can spam Kamehameha to kill the opponents quickly, he has 6 base Ki gauges, so he's really a perfect fighter to make a quick work on the enemies.

Final considerations

As mentioned earlier, there are also other prizes (the WE GOTTA POWER and Sparkling series of Green Capsules), but these are also available (rarely and not cheaply though) in the Skill Shop. Before thinking to get them all, beware that collecting 100% capsules will take MANY hours of grinding and farming, especially because there is an "Ultimate Attack", a "Breakthrough", a "Memories" capsule for each of the characters unavailable in story mode that you need to buy for 50,000, 75,000 and 100,000 Zenie *each*, and there is a total of 27 characters without a Dragon Universe adventure. These capsules alone will cost you about 6,000,000 Zenie, and there is still a lot more capsules for all of their Red Capsules attacks/transformations, a ton of Green Capsules and Yellow Capsules that you're probably never going to use, and also some other system capsules more or less hard to obtain. The message is: if you're going for 100% completion of capsules then you have a reason to hunt down the WE GOTTA POWER and Sparkling capsules too, otherwise nevermind about these other prices. The best way to obtain them is IMHO still the skill shop; they might be rare, but if you're after them it's probably because you are after 100% Capsules anyways, so you'll have to go in and out the shops a bunch of times anyways.

Also keep in mind that Sparkling is not necessarily the best way to make Zenie, since Kid Gohan's Dragon Universe can earn you (as explained in the section dedicated to this character's Dragon Universe) 50,000 Zenie in less than two minutes very easily. WE GOTTA POWER is handy to level up faster, but it still takes 9,999,999 Exp to take a character to level 99, making it a goal that you will probably erase from your to-do list.

If you do want to reach level 99, remember that some characters have a free level up spot in Dragon Universe. This is true for Goku and Vegeta (Goku has +2 level-ups in the Frieza Saga and +2 level-ups in the Androids Saga; Vegeta has +2 level-ups in the Androids Saga), the two most-used fighters by the fans. If they happen to be your favourite too, you can restart Dragon Universe over and over up to the point where the free level-ups are, save the game after levelling up, quit and repeat; this should be the easiest and also fastest (though most boring) way to take them to level 99 without too much effort. If your favourite character does not have such opportunities, well, you're out of luck :p If your chosen character can at least access Dragon Universe, you can fight the enemies on Z3 difficulty (more info in the "Extras" section at the bottom of this page) to earn the highest Exp available (provided you can keep up with the challenge). Otherwise the Dragon Arena will be your best bet.

The reason why I mentioned all of this, rather than encouraging you to reach level 99, is to point out that if you still need to level up someone to level 39 (minimum necessary to fight Gohan level 69 to unlock Cell Jr.) you should probably just speedrun through Goku's Dragon Universe to get four free level-ups in just a bit more than five minutes; save, exit, restart Dragon Universe and repeat until it's necessary.

# World Tournaments

The game offers four World Tournaments game modes: Novice, Adept, Advanced, Cell Games. The first three are played in the World Tournament stage, and there is a Ring-Out rule (push your opponent off the ring and you win); they differ because of the number of fights (3, 4, and 5 respectively) required to win, and not because of the level of difficulty of the fights themselves. The Cell Games does not have a Ring-Out rule, and requires 5 fights to win.

There are no particular tricks and suggestions, since you can make every fight a breeze by setting the lowest difficulty in the Game Options. Since the characters used in the tournaments do not have a "level", you should probably choose some high-Ki character like Kid Buu or Omega Shenron to have easy access to the special moves. Really though, you can literally defeat every opponent with the simple XXXXY combo (four punches followed by a Kamehameha, or whatever the main special attack of your character is) repeated ad-nauseam.

By default the only game mode available is the World Tournament-Novice. Beat it to unlock:

Budokai 3 Novice Champion in Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection

Budokai 3 Novice Champion12 (10)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player. Win World Tournament mode on Novice in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

The World Tournament-Adept (Silver Capsule) will appear for sale at the skill shop if you have unlocked at least 16 characters. It costs 6,000 Zenie. Beat it to unlock:

Budokai 3 Adept Champion27 (20)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Difficulty Specific - These achievements require that the game be played on a certain difficulty level. Win World Tournament mode on Adept in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

The World Tournament-Advanced (Silver Capsule) will appear for sale at the skill shop after beating World Tournament on Adept difficulty and only if you have unlocked at least 32 characters. It also costs 6,000 Zenie. Beat it to unlock:

Budokai 3 Advanced Champion in Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection

Budokai 3 Advanced Champion45 (30)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Difficulty Specific - These achievements require that the game be played on a certain difficulty level. Win World Tournament mode on Advanced in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

The World Tournament-Cell Games (Silver Capsule) becomes obtainable as a break-in prize only after beating the World Tournament on Advanced difficulty (to be honest I'm not 100% sure of this, but the evidence and feedbacks from other users seems to confirm this requirement), and we already mentioned the fight you should keep trying (level-55 Cell Jr.). This is the most Zenie-rewarding tournament, and earns you 50,000 Zenie when you win. Beat this tournament to unlock:

Budokai 3 Cell Games Champion in Dragon Ball Z Budokai HD Collection

Budokai 3 Cell Games Champion63 (40)

Offline Game Mode - These achievements require play in game modes that do not require a connection to any live services, such as Xbox Live.Single Player - These achievements can be obtained by a single player.Difficulty Specific - These achievements require that the game be played on a certain difficulty level. Win the Cell Games in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3

At this point you should have finished everything in this game as well. If you also completed everything in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai, you will unlock the final achievement for this collection:

# Extras

After finishing the achievements of the game you can challenge yourself to something harder than Dragon Arena. By completing a Dragon Universe playthrough on Very Hard difficulty you will receive the Goku's Wish (Silver Capsule), which will unlock the Z difficulty in the Game Options. If you beat a Dragon Universe on Z, you will receive The Path to Power (Silver Capsule), which unlocks the Z2 difficulty. Beat a Dragon Universe on Z2 difficulty and you will receive the Endless Path to Power (Silver Capsule), which unlocks the Z3 difficulty.

At this point you can complete a Dragon Universe playthrough on Z3 to receive the Strongest of Universe Trophy (Silver Capsule) !

Although these difficulty settings are challenging, it's perfectly possible to beat a Dragon Universe even with such high-opponents levels. The best character to use is Uub: his Dragon Universe is only three fights long (the first of which can even be won by ring-out) and his attack Ki Cannon can be abused to push back the enemy and damage him consistently. The tricky part is that even on Z3 the AI will leave its guard open, and the first thing that an opponent does when he gets up from an attack (including Ki Cannon) is to charge his own Ki, especially if it's not high enough. If you get the timing right, it's even possible to land a Perfect on Goku with a low-level Uub on Z3. This is just to tell you that if you keep trying, practice and stick with simple tactics you can beat the game on the hardest difficulty settings, and earn that Silver Capsule for your personal satisfaction.

There's no need to power up your characters too much either: I completed Dragon Universe consecutively on Very Hard, Z, Z1, Z2, Z3 with Uub starting from level 8 (to beat Very Hard), and I naturally ended up around level 42 because you get A LOT of Exp (typically +3 levels per fight until you reach level 35 or so).

My strategy was simply to attack with Ki Cannon, reload my Ki, rinse and repeat. Although Uub does not have a teleport-dodge, if you keep your Ki high you can always counter-teleport if your enemy teleports behind you after you use Ki Cannon. If this happens (and it's the typical scenario), your counter-teleport (roll behind the enemy) will probably give you a perfect opportunity to attack with Ki Cannon (either directly or with the XXXXY combo), thus landing safe damage all the time. This works charmfully unless your opponent has so much Ki that he can counter your counter-teleport in his turn, thus attacking you. That's no big deal: he just burned all his Ki in this assault, and he won't manage to recover enough Ki to counter-counter-teleport the next time if your next assault will be fast enough. Of course this is a basic strategy; don't expect it to be as easy as it sounds :p (though it really is "easy" if you understand the mechanics and fight with patience)

Sometimes I also managed to attack consecutively thanks to the stupid AI's habit of recharging Ki after being knocked down (the thing I was mentioning earlier): fire a Ki Cannon, run towards the enemy, fire another Ki Cannon as soon as he gets up, run towards the enemy again, fire another Ki Cannon, and so on. It works surprisingly good if done correctly.

Don't get scared when on Z3 the fight against Majin Buu will be played without automatic Ki recovery: it's actually a good thing, because if you manage to save your Ki and wait until the AI burns its own Ki (for instance after a failed Hyper Mode attempt to Dragon-Rush you) you'll be able to constantly spam Ki Cannon on the enemy, and the fact that Majin Buu does not recover Ki automatically means that he will not be able to have his 3 Ki back to teleport behind you, thus being "stuck" in your consecutive Ki Cannon attacks (of course you need to time it right so your Ki Cannon lands as soon as he gets up and starts charging Ki).

Once you've done this, the only thing left to do (other than levelling up every character to level 99...which is probably not going to happen) is collecting 100% Capsules. This will take a ton (various millions) of Zenie, especially for the capsules mentioned in the previous sections of this page. The Breakthrough capsules for the non-Dragon-Universe characters (such as Nappa, Frieza, etc.) will be for sale only after purchasing all the other Red Capsules for every character. The "Memories" of the non-Dragon-Universe characters will be put for sale only after purchasing pretty much everything else available in the shop. The rest of the capsules is a ton of Green and Yellow Capsules which nobody really uses :D

Among the other Red Capsules that you will find there will be also the Fusion [Gotenks] (Red Capsule) capsule for Kid Trunks and Goten. It's a quite rare piece, but it's bound to show up eventually if you keep entering and exiting the skill shop. It costs 30,000 Zenie.

At this point there is really nothing else to do in this game.

Congratulations on your 1,000 G (and possibly your Strongest of Universe Trophy) and thanks for reading!
