3. Story walkthrough
1.) Start by playing "Marathon Mode" first. The only achievement that you can earn uniquely in this game mode is "Marathon Mogul". 150,000 points need to be earned in one game for that achievement. The other achievements that are not mode-specific are best done in Marathon Mode. You have three different difficulty options to choose from. The lowest will give you less points but more opportunities to form specific shapes. It won't be as hard as on the higher difficulty, but the points on the higher difficulty are much greater. It really comes down to whatever fits the achievement you are seeking out.
Earn 150,000 points in a single Marathon game.
The "Marathon Mogul" achievement requires you to get 150,000 points in this mode. It is easiest to use the easiest difficulty and form as many flowers and combos as possible. If after a while you aren't able to get it on easy go a difficulty higher. Then, you can go to the next difficulty if that does not suit you. In getting other achievements like "Big Cheese of the South Seas" and "Grand Pearl Poo-Bah."
2.) Next comes "Timed Mode", which also has one achievement called "Tick-Tock Doc". One game of 75,000 points is required for that achievement to be attained. This mode is easiest only to boost the achievement "Hexic Addict" so other than that, it is not the best choice of game type. There is really no need to boost that achievement because it will come in time of trying to get the other achievements.
Earn 75,000 points in a single Timed game.
Exactly like "Marathon Mogul" but you have to get half as many points. It is better to not try to go as fast as possible but to try to make smart choices because a bunch of little combinations will not achieve 75,000 points as well as smart choices.
Complete 100 games of Hexic.
I put this achievement here because the easiest way to get it fast and out-of-the-way is in this game mode.
The first step is to start a game in "Timed Mode" using any difficulty. To start the fifty second timer, score points just once. Wait for the timer to finish and reach zero to end the game. Repeat this as many times as you need to get to 100 games played.
Again, this achievement is completely unnecessary to grind because you will play 100 games to reach the other achievements for completion unless you are a super human.
3.) The last game mode, "Survival Mode" is next with its own unique achievement for clearing off the whole screen or by passing level 50. Choose the goal of getting to level 50 because it will make it a lot harder on yourself if you don't. This game mode isn't good for any other miscellaneous achievements.
Complete Survival mode by clearing all of the pieces on one screen or by passing Level 50.
It does not help you out to play on a harder difficulty to obtain this achievement. If you keep playing this game mode you will eventually earn it after practice because reaching level fifty isn't as hard as it may perceive itself to be. If you just take your time and make thoughtful decisions then you can achieve it sooner than later.

The other option to this achievement is to completely clear all the pieces on the screen, which I believe to be the extreme choice in approaching the achievement. One false move and you'll have pieces on the other side of the screen that cannot be moved to each other. This requires a lot of concentration; therefore, I recommend the level fifty option.

4.) Keep playing "Marathon Mode" until you get all the other achievements in the game. This can take many hours of heavy concentration and playing.
Surround one piece with six same-color pieces.
"Star Flower" is the building block of more and more different formations out of different pieces. The easiest difficulty offers the most opportunities to get six pieces of the same color surrounding a different color piece right-off-the-bat. First decide which pieces are already the best choice to pursue, primarily toward the middle and bottom. Carefully, scope out the outcome of each turn you make before you perform it to make sure you will not screw it up. Then finish it off and you will form a "starflower"
Surround one piece with six starflower pieces.
Once you have three of these starflowers, you can use the same steps to make a blackpearl. The starflower ability to move the surrounding pieces comes into play for moving the other starflowers into position, let alone regular pieces.

Form a cluster of three bonus-star pieces.
"Star Gazer" is a three-piece formation of the regular colored pieces with stars in the middle. These bonus pieces are available during level two. Getting three of these together is ridiculously easy and can often happen on accident.
Get a total of 5,000 combos across all of your games.
A combo in this game is defined as points that come after the initial move. The most common example of combos in Hexic HD is pieces falling after a move where pieces disappeared to make a new formation that then also disappears. This is best put by OtisFamily: "Simply put, every time a set of hexagons disappears, either because you turned the pieces or because they fell and became a combo, it counts as a combo."
You need 5,000 of these across all games! There is no true way to try and attain this achievement so just keep on playing to eventually get it.

Get a total of 25 combos across all of your games.
For the achievement, "Cluster Buster", you only need 25 combinations as described in the achievement "Collapse Master". This is insanely easy to do and will probably be the first achievement you unlock for this game.
Earn a total lifetime score of one-million points across all of your games.
For "Millionaire Extraordinaire", you need to reach a score of 1,000,000 or one million points across all games. Play on the easiest difficulties and put bonus pieces in starflowers to double the points. This is not very hard considering there is an achievement for getting 150,000 points in a single game of "Marathon Mode".
Form a cluster of three black pearls.
The achievement "Big Cheese of the South Seas" is the second hardest achievement in Hexic HD. It requires you to make a formation of three black pearls (each produced by six starflowers surrounding a single colored piece). Although incredibly hard, once you have three of these for the achievement, keep working towards 'Grand Pearl Pooh-Bah" instead of getting it right then and there.
Only 5% of the current TrueAchievements members that have played the game have it, giving it a current TA ratio of 4.69.

Surround one piece with six black pearls.
Once you are somehow able to get six of the black pearls (made by a six starflower formation), make the same formation of the pieces surrounding a colored piece to obtain this achievement. "Grand Pearl Pooh-Bah" is by far the hardest achievement in the game and is a true accomplishment once achieved. Currently only 2% of the TrueAchievements members that have played the game have it, giving it a current TA ratio of 7.4. The video below is the best advice I can give since visuals are easier than words.
