5. Miscellaneous
Crates are the small green objects with blue lights. Move up to one and press RB to stomp on it.
Use Quick Heal ten times (single player only)
Quick heal by pressing B. With quick heal, you don't choose which health pack gets used; it's always the strongest one.
Kill 25 crawling enemies with Stomp (single player only)
Dismember a live Necromorph's legs to make it crawl. From here, just run up to it and stomp (RB) on it until it's dead. If you're playing on Casual (As you should be if you're trying to get this), it'll only take 1 or 2 stomps. The best way to avoid any damage while attempting to stomp them is to charge them as soon as they fall down. Once they hit the floor, it takes them about 2 seconds before they recover and are able to move/attack.
Kill 50 Necromorphs while they are in Stasis (single player only)
You'll get access to Stasis in chapter 1, and you'll be forced to use it or die. If you're playing on Casual, it can be hard to remember that you've got Stasis, as you'll be plowing through everything without much trouble. Try to remember to use it.
Kill 30 Necromorphs with Kinesis objects
You'll get access to Kinesis in Chapter 1. Aim at something (Or someone) and press B to grab it with Kinesis. Not all objects can be grabbed, but most can be. Many objects that you can grab with Kinesis are just as effective, if not more so than your other weapons. If you see a light glow at the end of something that looks long and pointy, that is a particularly good object to throw with Kinesis. This does not refer to just environmental objects; it also counts things like Necromorph limbs and such.
Decompress 20 Necromorphs without getting sucked out yourself
You can decompress Necromorphs by shooting out windows. The Necromorphs will then get sucked out into space. To save yourself from the same fate, you'll have to shoot a button near the top of the window to seal the airlock. Not all windows can be shot out. The ones that can are marked by white text on the window that reads "FUTURE EXPANSION." It's pretty hard to miss.
By the time I finished the game, I'd only decompressed 12 Necromorphs. Unless I missed a couple windows, I believe this requires at least 2 runthroughs. Shouldn't be a problem since you need at least 2 runthroughs of Dead Space 2 to 1,000G it.
Note: When you finish the game and save your cleared game data, it saves your progress towards achievements. If you start a New Game +, your achievement progress will carry over to the New Game +. If you start a regular New Game, progress towards achievements will not carry over.
Dismember 25 Necromorph Limbs (single player only)
See below.
Dismember 2,500 Necromorph Limbs (single player only)
As stated in the overview, you may be able to get this in one playthrough if you thoroughly stomp on every Necromorph you encounter. I wasn't able to, and finished with about 1,800 dismemberments, though I wasn't trying super hard.
Note: When you finish the game and save your cleared game data, it saves your progress towards achievements. If you start a New Game +, your achievement progress will carry over to the New Game +. If you start a regular New Game, progress towards achievements will not carry over.
Weapon related:
Impale an enemy and make him fly through the air for 17 meters - it must stick to the surface
There are numerous places to get this. The following video details one of them. Full credit for the video goes to Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter.
Sever all three tentacles of a Lurker with one Line Gun Primary Fire shot (single player only)
You'll start encountering Lurkers in Chapter 5. They're small, fetus-like things that shoot 3 ranged projectiles (At once) in an arc. Getting this achievement is easy. As soon as you see that the Lurker has its tentacles out, aim close to the bottom of the middle tentacle and fire. Stasis will make this already easy achievement even easier.
Kill a Stalker with the Seeker Rifle while in Zoom Mode
Zoom mode (LT + RB) with the Seeker Rifle is just a slightly maginifed third-person view, so you don't really need to be good at sniping to get this. If you don't have the achievement by chapter 8, that's a good place to get it. You'll eventually come across a Stalker that has had its legs blown off. She'll angrily crawl towards you and is still fully capable of destroying you, so just zoom in and pop 'er.
Knock down an enemy with Contact Beam Alt-Fire then kill it with Primary Fire before it stands up
The alt-fire of the Contact Beam sends out a short range shockwave. The primary fire has to be charged, so you may want to use Stasis on the Necromorph you knocked down before going for the kill. Unlike some of the other weapon related achievements, this one can't be done on children, because the shockwave will kill them instantly.
Kill 50 enemies using the Flamethrower
If you played the original Dead Space, you're probably groaning right now. Well, good news, everyone! The Flamethrower is still pretty bad, but it's not as bad as it was. It's actually a pretty fuel efficient weapon. Hah! Get it? Fuel efficient? Instead of ammo efficient! Now that I think about it, it makes sense, and thus, isn't as funny. Don't think about that joke; don't ruin it for yourself like I just did.
Anyway... unfortunately, it doesn't dismember well in DS2. In fact, in all 50 kills, I didn't see it didmember a single body part. So basically, make absolutely sure that you get this on your Casual run through because it will be absolutely nightmareish trying to get this on Zealot, or god forbid Hardcore.
Kill 20 enemies with Detonator Mines in a deployed state
"A deployed state" means that you can't fire the mines directly at enemies and have that counts towards the achievement. You have to shoot the mine at a surface, and have a Necromorph move through the blue beams. The Detonator mines will kill pretty much everything that comes in contact with them, and they have a huge range. Not a hard achievement to get.
Those tiny little Necromorphs that jump on Isaac (And that you must shake off by mashing A) are great for these weapon achievements.
Kill a Necromorph with every Weapon in the game (single player only).
Self explanatory. The weapons and the chapter in which to obtain them:
- Contact Beam (Chapter 7)
- Detonator (Chapter 5)
- Flamethrower (Chapter 6)
- Force gun (Chapter 7)
- Javelin gun (Store)
- Line Gun (Store)
- Plasma Cutter (Starting gun)
- Pulse Rifle (Chapter 2)
- Ripper (Chapter 5)
- Seeker Rifle (Chapter 6)
All the weapons are pretty easy to find, and if you miss any, they'll appear in the store later. You only have to kill a single Necromorph with each weapon, and the only weapons without other achievements tied to them are the Plasma Cutter and Force Gun, both of which are two of the most useful weapons in the game.
RIG/Upgrade related:
Upgrade your RIG and Stasis completely

Upgrade 1 Weapon completely

Simultaneously have four completely upgraded weapons
This is best done on Casual, and it's actually not that hard to do on Casual. When I got this achievement, I had a fully upgraded Stasis Module, and my RIG had 16 nodes put into it. I had to Respec my RIG in order to have the nodes to get this achievement, but I only used 6 of the 16 nodes I got from Respecing my RIG, and I didn't even have to Respec my Stasis Module. And when I did this, I wasn't even on the final chapter, I was on 13. Clearly it's not THAT hard to get this achievement, you just have to be vigilant in your looting and selling.
Here a couple tips for makin' some mad cred:
As I mentioned in General Hints and Tips, you should try to kill the child Necromorphs with the Ripper, as it will dismember them as it kills them, thus giving you loot.
It's not a bad idea to carry around the Contact Beam just so you can find ammo for it and sell it. A full stack (6) of Contact Beam ammo sells for 6k credits. Also keep in mind that carrying less weapons means less variation of ammo. So if you only carried the Plasma Cutter and Contact Beam, you'd get Plasma Cutter and Contact Beam ammo almost exclusively.
(I shouldn't have to say say this, but...) backtrack often and sell things.
If you can, try not to buy any power nodes until you get the Vintage Suit from chapter 8. While wearing this suit, you get a 10% shop discount. You can find more than enough power nodes to open all the power node doors, and get a few upgrades, too.
