3. Story walkthrough
Howdy. I see you have decided to read on, well I tell you here, this is one helluva walkthrough, so hold on to your hats as we take a trip into the wild west and join John Marston and the gang. In this walkthrough I will take you by the hand and guide you through all the campaign and help you reach the heights of multiplayer, and soon you will be a gun-slingin' cowboy in no time.
Ok lets clear up the missable achievement first, the only one that i have found that people have been missing is:

Basically for the first 20 missions of the game DO NOT change your horse or get your horse killed. You shouldnt need to anyway the one you start with is perfectly adequate.
Spoilers ahead!
SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN
Ok let's start with the campaign. So after you arrive from the boat, partially punch a paper boy, and put up with an ear bashing from surrounding people it is time for your first mission and your first achievement. Simply follow the marker to the saloon and follow the guy for about 5 mins, watch the cutscence, and the achievement is yours

So after a lot of missions (about 22 missions later) you will come across a mission called The Assault on Fort Mercer, a mission given by Marshall Johnson, the mission is story related and cannot be missed unless you choose to mess about in the wild west for all eternity. All you have to do in this mission is to jump on the gatling gun, mow down the countless, helpless enemies, gather with your allies and kick some ass on the upper level, then back on the the ol' gatling gun to take down more carts and horses, then Bam! You're done--another cheevo unlocked.

Ok so on with the story, after a bunch of missions (15) with alot of the game's weirdest characters, you will meet a man named Abraham Reyes. His second mission is called The Gates Of El Presidio, again another story related mission. You have to blow prison doors open, search the prison camp and confront Escuella. You have a choice to chase him down, lasso him and bring him back alive, or paint the walls with his blood. Which ever you choose doesnt affect the outcome of the game. Either way you have to make sure his body is in prison. After that you have to defend the fort, then turn in the body of Escuella.

Ok after all of that the very next mission is also an achievement related mission. Another mission given by Reyes (An Appointed Time). So for this mission you have to duel a captain who shot some woman. Oh well. Make sure you go for a headshot, free Reyes and his men, fight off the men on the hill, break into the villa, chase after Williamson and his wagon stop him, and end his life. Bing bang boom another cheevo in the bank.

Two missions down the line you'll get another achievement related mission. This one is called At Home With Dutch, (who makes up these names? Oh that's right, the maniacs that are Rockstar). Another story related mission, so again hard to miss. After hearing the insane ramblings of Professor MacDougal, climb the cliff, deal with the TNT and animals. Fairly straight forward, then follow it to then end. Onwards!

Four missions later you'll be coming to the hilt of the end of the game. You have to do a two part mission given to you by Agent Ross. Called And You Will Know the Truth and And the Truth Will Set You Free (Nice little biblical reference there, well done Rockstar). Along with yet more ear-bashing, which all these game seems to have to offer, the mission ahead of you is fairly simple; go into the fort, find and kill everyone between you and him. Watch the cutscene for an intresting incident.

*Major Spoilers abound!*
This is it, John's Finale; his last mission. All you have to do is blast your way through all the enemies you can using cover well. Eventually you'll come to a part where you have to face off against about 20 marshalls, so fire up the ol' dead eye and take as many of them to the grave with you.

So the main character is now dead, but wait, the game isn't over! From now on you take the role of your son, Jack, and you have one last mission (Remember My Family). Now you want revenge on those responsible for your father's death. Go to the train station you'll meet a stranger who tells you to go to the Lake Don Julio. Simple mission, just find Ross and kill him. (If you're feeling really nasty you can kill his son and wife with throwing knives and dead eye).

That's it, revenge over along with the games main storyline. All that's left is side quests and getting drunk and fornicating.
