As crystenah's solution states, you could experience a rise and fall of your guild ranking, depending on the order you choose, but don't lose heart! Your rank really doesn't affect anything in the game if you stick to finishing the quests. You'll be back on track in no time.

First, find Modryn Oreyn in Chorrol for:
    "Trolls of Forsaken Mine"

Next you can choose Azzan in Anvil for:
    "The Stone of St. Alessia"

or Burz gro-Khash in Cheydinhal for:
    "The Noble's Daughter"
    http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_Noble%27s_Daughter
    then
    "Mystery at Harlun's Watch"

    Whoever's last will advance you.

Complete the quests "Trolls of Forsaken Mine" (see Oreyn in Chorrol), "The Stone of St. Alessia" (given to you by Azzan in Anvil), "The Noble's Daughter" (talk to Lord Rugdumph who is located in his estate northwest of Lake Arrius - outside Cheydinhal), and "Mystery at Harlun's WAtch" (simply speak with gro-Khash while in Cheydinhal). After all that work of being promoted, demoted, and reinstated, you will finally be promoted to Champion.

crystenahI forgot to mention that you have to talk to gro-Khash in Cheydenhal before you talk to Lord Rugdumph in "The Noble's Daughter" quest

This achievement cannot be obtained on some versions of the game (in Xbox 360 compatibility mode for Xbox One) because of a bug that doesn't allow you to clear the Troll's cave in "Trolls of forsaken mine".
