This DLC is a complete waste of money but if you are a completionist like me then you couldn’t help but purchase it. However, if you are not a completionist and you haven’t yet bought this then I have one piece of advice: Don’t get it! All the DLC provides you is two new characters and two new maps. Even this achievement “Complete Mission Mode playing as Ivar or Gullarp” doesn’t even provide you with a new mission, it requires you to “re-complete” the original mission using just the new characters.

Having said the above, if you have not yet completed mission mode but have purchased the DLC, I suggest using one of the new characters to do so, thus killing two birds with one stone.

Load up the game and in the main menu choose “Mission Mode”. On the character select screen, there are two characters at the bottom. One is a tiger (Ivar) and the one to the right is an elephant (Gullarp). Select either of these and play through the 12 missions to unlock this achievement.

I tried both characters and prefer Ivar. Gullarp is a bit slow in firing with his crossbow or using melee but Ivar can shoot his sword for good damage. Once you get used to doing this you will find that if you hold down the right trigger (fire) it will actually have the sword hover in position. Using this tactic you can put some distance between yourself and the enemy and have the sword just sit there and do damage. This also helps on some levels where the enemy is on a ledge above you. Just shoot and hold and it will often keep the enemy in a position where you can do damage for a few seconds, which really helps.

If you die, don’t worry, just hit continue (which costs half your points, but who cares?) and finish the mission.

One key tip to note is that when you finish a mission and move to the next you only have the same number of lives you ended the previous mission with, so I suggest just dying at the start of each mission so that when you continue you start with five lives. You must do this in one sitting but it won’t take more than an hour.
