There isn't much difference to strategy in a Timed game over a Marathon game, just that you have less time to ponder your moves. Keep trying for star flowers, and wherever possible clear them in groups of four or more for big points (25,000+).

Remember to get rid of those bombs and keep making moves and combos. If time runs out, that's it... game over. So it's better to sacrifice a chance at a Star Flower in order to keep the game going. Don't worry, you'll get more chances.

The Achievement will unlock as soon as you pass the 75,000 point mark.

Falcon SVNAny better tips? I keep running out of time at 3500 points and can manage around 5 starflowers while knocking out as many blocks as possible.

dirtysock47Try to make starflowers as early as possible. When you make a starflower, 10 seconds is added to the timer, which makes it easier to negotiate moves.

DannyK 100Keeping a brisk (but not hurried) pace and building starflowers where possible got me there in the end :)

*Note: This solution is mainly regarding scoring in this game, as opposed to long-term strategy. For that, you can go to http://www.hexic.info/index.html

    Onto my solution.

Because this achievement only requires 75,000 points, you can get it most of it in a single move. In the first few levels, try to make as many starflowers as possible without clustering any of them. Once you have 6 starflowers, move them into position where they can be turned into a black pearl in a single move. When you make a black pearl, you will get 10,000*[level] points. By the time I reached level 4, I had just under 25,000 points with the 6-star flowers ready and waiting to be made into a pearl.

To get to level 5, I simply made regular combos on the other side of the board, away from the starflower, until I had made enough combos to get to level 5. by this time, I had 25,000 points and so I made my pearl. This got me an added 50,000 points which added up nicely to just over 75,000 points. Bam, achievement unlocked.

Also, depending on which pieces you use to make your starflowers, and at what levels you make your star flowers, you could easily have 35,000 points by level 4. Using multiplier pieces for your starflowers in higher levels really gets you points quickly, and you might not even need to make a pearl.

Of course, make sure bombs are #1 priority when they show up.

    I hope this helps :)

Sir Stratsavvyit can be effective to wait a move or two when bombs show up to try to get a star piece in the combo so u can erase all pieces of that color. its not advised however to try more than 2 or so moves. better safe than sorry!

TrexAus77The Hexic links seem to no longer be active I just get a generic page with google style advert's down the side!
I only bought my slim console in Feb '12 so it would've been handy to have a scoring & instruction reference! Hopefully it'll be back up! But as I see it's been around since '05, I doubt it!
Thanks for the hints Guys! I shall persist!
