This achievement is gained simply by following the story line of the game. Lie to Jack by telling him that Claire has fainted, get Locke's advice on hiding from the monster and finding the cockpit (follow the plane debris), speak to Michael about getting through the caves (buy some torches from him, you'll need them). Once you've gotten through the caves, it's pretty much a straight shot to the cockpit.
