    This is just a clarification to Rollie's guide;

    Ring the first bell
    Ring the second bell (unlocks Sen's Fortress)
    Go to Darkroot Garden and defeat Sif to obtain the Covenant of Artorias (necessary to enter the Abyss)
    Pass through Sen's Fortress to Anor Londo
    Defeat Smough & Ornstein at the end of Anor Londo to acquire the Lordvessel
    - don't talk to Frampt, the serpent at Firelink shrine after this point -
    Go to New Londo Ruins, find Ingward and he will give you the key to the Abyss
    Enter the Abyss, defeat the 4 kings boss.
    Another serpent (Kaathe) will appear, and take you to the Firelink altar. Speak to him again after placing the Lordvessel on the altar, and he will offer the covenant.

    Shadow XBLI was confused about the covenant after I beat 4 Kings - what happens, as the solution partly says, is you answer "Yes" but then you are taken to place the lord vessel. Don't warp from the lord vessel though, go back to Kaathe and talk to him, and he'll take you back to the Abyss. THEN speak to him and he'll tell you about the covenant and you can say YES again (or no). Then the achieve pops after he tells you about it.

    WNWDThanks OlavTS & Shadow XBL for the better alternative. But you can not just talk to Kaathe to leave, he will repeat "What are you waiting for, place the lordvessel." so I used a wayward bone, that is the way to leave the firelink shrine area without placing the lordvessel and warp back to the abyss to talk to him about the covenant.

    Note: You can get this achievement BEFORE aquiring the lordvessel (which means you don't have to face O&S if you don't want to!). You just need to aquire the ring of artorias by defeating Sif. You can access Sif anytime via the ladder near the hydra in darkroot basin or the sealed door in the darkroot garden (needs seal for 20,000 souls from the blacksmith near the entrance to Sen's Fortress).

    Once you have the ring. Go to New Londo and kill the keeper (red guy on the roof). He will drop the key to the seal (the key he normally gives you if you posess the lordvessel) and you can then access the 4 kings as normal and once you defeat them you can get this achievement.

    ScottMacFreedomGood guide and all... But I like how you sound like Smough and Ornstien are tougher than the Four Kings.

    My RingtonesThis saved me alot of time since this was my last achievement. Was able to rush to the Five Kings in about 40ish minutes on NG++.

    In order to get the chance to join the Darkwraith covenant, you need to make sure you never speak to Kingseeker Frampt after obtaining the Lordvessel. If you do, he'll automatically take you to Firelink altar, where you'll have no choice but to place it on the altar. As long as the Lordvessel is still in your inventory when you defeat the four kings at the bottom of New Londo, you'll meet the other primordial serpent, Darkstalker Kaathe, who will give you the chance to join the covenant if you agree to side with him. If you don't, he'll leave and never return, locking out the covenant for that run of the game.

    Kev0222HolyMoses81, nope. You place the lordvessel no matter what you choose. I don't want to write any spoilers so I'll just say that there is an oppurtunity to place it even if you don't talk to fraampt and go for this achievement. Even if you mess that up (which you won't if you don't select no during the event after defeating the 4 kings) you can always roll into the hole where fraampt was and place it.
