The best place to accomplish this is in the final reserve (Tanzania) and the final level there (Morogoro). The first power-up you find will be a slow-mo one, shoot the herd rampaging away from you, the few that come from the right (last one's a trophy legend) then a few more that run away from you. Swap to shotgun and activate the power-up. There's a great chunk of birds that comes from right to left you can blast. Don't swap back until the next checkpoint as you can keep pumping shots into the birds in top center/right area while you avoid the barrels coming down the incline. Later in that level when you are offered a choice of paths, make sure you choose the left hand path as there is another flock of birds here (no slow-mo though). Once you reach the end of the level, choose restart and repeat.

    Things to make note of:

This is cumulative, all birds you bag throughout all game modes count. There is no counter anywhere in game for how many birds you've shot unfortunately, so you just have to keep plugging away.

This is likely to be one of your last achievements in the game. Having the Shotgun Spread and Powerup Mania perks fully unlocked and upgraded (and chosen as your 2 active perks) will make this much faster. The double blast from the maxed shotgun and wider spread are a godsend, and the extra duration on powerups is a bonus. suggests using the rifle as it is easier to shoot more birds each run and although you are penalized for using the rifle, the kills still count toward your total.

Thanks to for the heads-up on the sweet level.

planting42That I'm not 100% sure on... I restarted and finished levels as I wasn't sure what was counting. The achievement popped immediately after the 1000th kill so I can't be sure. I think you may be able to but didn't want to test another 1000 kills on an alt.

TheFlaminCThe last lvl is the best for this achievement but I found that I could just keep pumping rifle rounds into the birds quicker and reload faster than using the shotgun. It still counts as a kill even though you get a -1 pt deduction. Once I started doing this I averaged about 60 birds each time a ran through the lvl, when I used the shotgun it was around 40-45 each time.

The best level to get this on is the first level in Tanzania. There are three large clusters of birds in this level, and it's fairly easy to average 50 birds through each playthrough. So, if you do the math, you would have to play this level 20 times for the achievement to pop.

I found a great way to get this achievement and the Survival Instincts at the same time. I went to the Gallery area and picked the first Survival Round in Texas and kept my Rifle on. as you play through the level, you get birds throughout the level and as TheFlamingChode pointed out in another guide, you take a point loss, but get the kill and more that way than with a shotgun. Survival Rounds keep you rolling over and over, so no hated load time restarts.
