This is more or less story-related as you will encounter your first dragon as part of the main quest.

This first dragon you'll encounter is quite strong, but additionally, there'll be alot of NPC's who do their best and contribute to the fight.

There's a tower nearby where you can hide from it's breath, which will do severe damage in the early stages of the game. When the dragon lands, go all out with your attack method of choice. I personally found melee combat to be the most efficient.

This should be the first dragon you get to fight in the game as part of the main quest.

I moved to the top of the tower and used fire to attack the dragon. The indicator will let you know where the dragon is. If you are in trouble health-wise, either heal using a spell or drop lower in the tower to recover. Attack using fire only when the dragon is in range, this will preserve your majick and allow you to recover.

This should be quite simple and if you are having trouble, try dropping down the tower whenever you get hit by the dragon and waiting until you have full energy before coming back up.

This Achievement is more or less inside of the Whiterun storyline. As you complete quests for Jarl Bulgruuf the Greater (Or Jarl Vignar Gray-Mane if the Stormcloaks have taken over), you are slowly moving to this epic climax of questing.

Now while this Dragon is a boss, there are many ways to defeat it easily. I found that the best way is to just move around the tower getting cover from his fire breath. All the while shooting a steady stream of arrows towards it. During this, the Whiterun guards and Irileth might actually assist you.

All in all this is a very easy 10 Gamerscore, and may be-if you're like me- one of the first achievements you will earn from The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
