Before you can actually meet somebody, you'll need to go to the Temple of Mara in Riften and inform yourself about marriage at the local priest, Maramal. On rare ocassions, he can be found in the Bee and Barb tavern, also in Riften, but since he lives in the temple, that is your best bet to find him.

After asking about the temple and informing yourself about marriage, you will be able to buy a necklace for 200 gold that shows you're 'available'.

Buy and wear the necklace, and find yourself a partner. Your own race and gender does not impact the choices you can make.

A full list with name, race, gender, occupation and required quest/action can be found here:
    http://www.realsg.com/2011/11/guide-skyrim-marriage-how-to-a...

All credit goes to Anthony Accinelli who created the list.

After choosing your partner, head back to the temple and arrange your wedding with Maramal. Wait for a day, but NOT inside the temple, and re-enter to attend your marriage.

The achievement will unlock after saying 'I do'.

SpoolinChaosSo I couldn't buy the amulet from him, as I already had it in my inventory. I got it from some previous quest as the item wasn't stolen, but I don't remember which quest, I went straight to the person I wanted to marry, she said yeah, and that was that. So you don't have to buy it from him if you've gotten it from somewhere else.

EDIT: Just like real life, not everyone will be interested in you, so if your first choice isn't don't worry, someone else will be.

    SPOILER ALERT:

To obtain this achievement, all you need to do is travel to Riften and find the preacher Maramal. He is most likely at the "Bee and Barb Inn", but sometimes goes to the Temple of Mara to preach there. Talk to him about Mara, and then about marraige. For 200 septims you can purchase "Amulet of Mara", which lets everyone know you are looking.

Now you need to find a partner. Here is a list of available people to wed in the retail version (no DLC):

Now head back to Riften and speak with Maramal again, and he will tell you that your wedding is tomorrow! Wait, do a quest, whatever you wish until the next day, and then head to the Temple of Mara to be married to your chosen girl/guy. The achievement pops after saying I Do.

As always, please explain why you voted negative if you do, because we may be able to help you!

EDIT: The Amulet of Mara can be found in random loot and on certian NPC's, however that version WILL NOT allow you to marry anyone. It will only give you the Restoration effect. You may also not be able to purchase the correct one from Maramal if you are carrying a fake one.

Note: Most of the time you will need to preform some sort of quest for the person to make them like you enough.

ADaughen@Torminatoron, supposedly you can use the Shout and blast her out of the way.

@DUSTIFUS, I had that problem too. I did NPCs favors prior to getting the info on marriage so they possibly "forgot" I did them favors. :/

I ended up marrying Moth gro-Bagol - Orc from Markarth (Understone Keep blacksmith). :/ The big guy won't even cook me a decent meal.

Edgrr Allan BroStill gave you the thumbs up for all the other information but you are mistaken about the amulet. Any amulet of Mara will allow you to get married as long as you have spoke to Maramal for the significance of marriage. I tested this myself.

For a surefire way to get married quickly, just read below:

So, get an amulet of Mara from the temple of Mara, in Riften, for 200 gold. Now wear this amulet, and go to Whiterun. There will be a woman NPC, that uses heavy armor, and a 2-H Sword in, or around the Bannered Mare Inn. Her name is Uthgerd the Unbroken. Now, this one is SUPER easy to get married to. All you have to do is challenge her to a brawl, for 100gold,beat her, and you win. You will now obtain 200 gold back for beating her in a brawl. She is now "available" due to the fact, you showed her how powerful you are. Talk to her, ask to marry while you are wearing your amulet of Mara, head to riften, tell the priest you want to get married, wait 24 hours, and attend your wedding ceremony. Your achievement will pop once you say "I do".

If you feel the need to vote negatively, please comment so I know why you did so.

*On a side note, this isnt a solution where I give you a massive list of NPC's that you can marry, when there is another solution dedicated to that. All I am doing, is telling you how to get married without all the much effort, persay like a quest you would need to do.*

TH3 BIG M3SSI had Uthgerd as a companion at the time, and I was able to marry her. I went outside the temple before asking if she was interested, waited 24 hours, and went back inside--achievement unlocked.

You need to go to the Temple of Mara in Riften and ask about marriage then you will be told that you need an amulet of mara and an eligible NPC to have as a spouse a list of all that are eligible can be found here at the Skyrim wiki.

    http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Skyrim:_Marriage

The achievement will pop after the wedding is complete.

ok after a few struggled attempts (ill explain after) at this heres what i have to say... i married Aela the huntress which can only be done after you finish the companions storyline. after you are done aela will be there with you and she will ask "did i really just hear that?" (or something along those lines) you can now go up ot her (wearing the amulet of mara) and there will be a tab saying "so your interested?" pick that one then "I wont lie, im interested", then have her follow you. go to the temple in riften, ask for marriage, then go back outside and part ways with Aela, then wait 12 hours. once the wait is over you should see the "quest" headline for "attend your wedding ceremony" you can now go back into the temple and complete your marriage, after the chivo pops go up to your partner and you should be able to tell him/her which house it is that you would like to live in ( for me it was breezehome in Whiterun)

i strongly recommend that you save the game manually after you find the partner you want and get them to agree to marriage i ran into a few glitches and im not sure if it happens with every marry-able character of if it was my own shit luck...

    issues i ran into-
-when i first "proposed" to her i didn't have her follow me out of the tomb, when i went to get married she showed up only when the headline popped up saying "failed- attend your wedding ceremony"
my solution- have your partner follow you to the temple

-after having her follow me back outside of the temple s,he was still my follower when i waited, after the wait was over it said companion "leaves your services to attend your wedding", after the wedding i could not find her after about 2 hours of traveling to every town trying to find her.
my solution- i reloaded the save from when i exited the temple, told her "we should part ways", waited for 12 hours, then went back in to attend thewedding.

i hope this helps good luck... please comment if you think i should change or add anything

    Simple:

Continue the story untill you get to river wood. Enter the river wood trader and ask Lucian about what was stolen. Take his quest and complete it. The lady in the room will now become "friendly" with you. Continue untill you get to whiterun, Enter the gates, leave and head down the the carriage, just outside the stables. Head to riften and enter the bee and the Barb. Speak to Marmal, and ask if you can have a marriage, untill he offers an amulet of mara. Take it (200 gold) and head back to the riverwood trader. Speak to Camella and ask if she is interested. Go positive, untill it is decided that you will be married. Go back to riverwood and talk to maramal. Tell him about the mariage and then go to the temple of mara ( just activate the quest in your quest list). At noon the next day, Camella will be there. Go through the ceremony, and (bleep bloop) achievement.

Lynda can also be a wife once you are thane of whiterun. (continue the story)

    MORE COMMING SOON!

Hey everyone, just a quick video for unlocking this acheivement. All you really need to do is wear an amulet of Mara, which you can buy in the temple of Mara in Riften or find randomly, then talk to any of the eligible partners. When you talk with them, they'll say "wanna get married?" , say yes, then talk to the priest in Riften to set up the ceremony. It takes place the next day, and viola, married. Hope the video helps!
