How to unlock the Fashion Beats achievement

This is going to be a tough one to write, as there is so much to bloody say. More so because of the entire dancing genre community being at a loss (including Mr Jackson wink), as to if this achievement was even obtainable. After what feels like forever trying to figure it all out, I'll now share my findings for unlocking this bad boy. I won't list the challenges, as Boots has already done so in his guide. The experienced players will be able to skip alot of this guide, although I would appreciate the read after all I went through working it out lol. I need to cover it all though, so on we go...

    38 challenges, 8 Co-op and 30 single player.

36 of the challenges CAN be done solo... with only 2 requiring an actual second dancer.

Only challenge numbers 37 & 38 require two dancers.

All challenges can and will appear on Alien difficulty, but not all can be completed on the lower difficulties (can't earn enough followers etc) - so... always dance on Alien.

All solo challenges can be issued with two players on screen, so if you're still needing the co-op stuff, leave the dummy player (see below) on screen during menu navigation.

If you're offered a challenge, but fail it, you can restart before the results screen appears. Don't panic if you miss it though... as that challenge will appear again very soon as long as you don't get changed smile

My final 12 challenges were all issued on Alien, all at the Climax venue, and all with the same song.

For doing the co-op stuff solo, read this paragraph:

Always navigate the menus with a vacuum cleaner or something similar on screen, as co-op challenges won't appear when only one player is present. I can't stress enough though, to REMOVE the second dummy player from the play space after the song has started to load. It really doesn't matter if it finds you as player one or two at this point, but start dancing with only one player in the space, and then bring the dummy back when the results screen appears at the end. Your followers will be classed as co-op. You'll notice also that as long as the dummy did not score a single point, the ranks do not get averaged either, and it counts your rank as the co-op rank. Leaving the dummy in the play space during the song will result in points being scored by it (insane I know), and it HALVES the amount of followers you can earn. Don't ask me why, but that's what happens. On the result screen, your Rank S and the vacuums Rank D will equal a co-op rank B. Learn when to remove, and when to replace it, so that you can solo these co-op parts smile

I need to be clear that I was well into my game, before figuring any of this out. I had the achievement for dancing to all songs (on easy, only step 1), and I was very close to the 323 dances achievement also. I honestly can't comment on wether or not these achievements affect any challenges I had been issued, so I suggest anyone going for the 1000G, covers all other achievements before going for this one.

I tried the method of bouncing around from venue to venue, song to song, and difficulty to difficulty. None of it worked. By this time, I only had 12 or so challenges remaining, so it is entirely possible that the before mentioned 'bouncing' is somewhat required for some challenges, but not for the guys and gals who are stuck at the top of the leaderboard trying to finish this game up, as I was.

I then went on a crusade, gathering Followers in the hope that it would trigger them to appear. I danced for what felt like a lifetime... going from 78,000 Followers to well over 200,000... without a single challenge appearing. I think its safe to assume that the final challenges are not Follower related either lol.

In an act of pure desperation, I decided to go the wardrobe, and dress myself like Will.I.Am... and hey... start song... challenge appeared. And a Will.I.Am one too! Could it be?

I then dressed myself as close to any of the outfits I saw in game, trying to get the challenges issued. After that went kind of ok, I ran out of outfits to copy cry. I ended up on Google Images... seeking anything online that resembled anything in game. An event held in 2011, saw the Peas actually dressed in gear made by LEGO... omg... really? Yup. Lego Baseball Hat = Apl de Ap challenge. Jeez. OK... was I on to something here? Thinking about it, the rewards for completing these challenges are clothes and accessories right?? So.... PUT THEM ALL ON lol!! I then noticed that when equipping some items, the Peas speak to you. Pay special attention to the Peas commenting on a lot of items... "That's so cool', or 'Man... that is DOPE!' etc etc. These are the items that you want to be wearing. DO NOT JUST PUT ON ONE ITEM THOUGH! It could be 'outfit' related... so cover your character in 'talking' clothes and accessories.

In short, I went through my entire wardrobe, only equipping items that the Peas were commenting on... and steadily now... the challenges were appearing.

My method outside the wardrobe was simple... having done almost everything in the game already, I had no need to dance, unless there was a challenge. I started the song (same one, any one you're good at), and if a challenge didn't appear, I quit out, and started it again. After 5 or so starts of the song with the outfit I was wearing, I would go and change everything I was wearing... again for something that was commented on if possible. Repeat until complete.

Its worth noting that the same item can be commented on by any BEP, and not specifically Will or Fergie, making me think that who you hear is not as important as the fact you hear someone. If you're sure that an item has challenged you already, note it down somewhere, or you may disappear up your own *** like I almost did towards the end.

My very last challenge was for Taboo.... and I could not for the life of me get it to appear. In an act of pure desperation, I dressed my guy exactly like Taboo is dressed in the opening Title Screen... and guess what... final challenge appeared!!

For those people at the top of the leaderboard - don't get frustrated when you go for a while without seeing any appearing... you gotta remember you have most probably worn a lot of the stuff in the wardrobe already, so you're stuck looking for those last few. Don't give up... because this is the way to do it.

Finally... I'm really sorry this is so dam long... but I wanted to share it all with you lot lol.

    Good luck smile

cooorpseI want to put my 2 cents here. I could complete a lot of challenges without even using the wardrobe method, cause most of the challenges needed a higher difficult to earn Followers. The point is, when playing on Alien and Climax already unlocked I used the same song always (Imma bee fast), some times I changed venues and a challenge showed, but I don't think it's necessary unless it's a Gain X Followers that is a low number of followers, cause the venues change the amount of followers gained.

The clothes really seems to help, I always changed myself with pieces that BEPs commented and making myself like Taboo/Will also trigger some of their challenges. My last 5 challenges was rank B, A, S and smooth transitions. For the ranked ones I used the clothes method (Hollow and DeathGuard tips) and enter a song, after some tries I quit and change it again, it worked fine, but for smooth transitions I spent more than 5 hours with no results. I had 55k followers and I didn't see the point to gather more, then I came with the idea of getting the 323 songs anyways. I set a dummy to replay songs and after 50 songs my Xbox froze, I started the game and the song, quit and start, quit and start, BOOM, 15 smooth challenge appeared, when it ended I selected the song again the last challenge showed (20 smooth) cause they should be related.

My final notes are: The clothes help? Yes. The difficult/venue/song matter? No. Of course smooth can only be gained on routines and not steps. Maybe the song counter and the randomness also have something to trigger the challenges. Hope I help people that stuck in something.

oxHARMONxoI've been stuck trying to get my last challenge to appear. I'm only missing Fergie's challenge 36. I finished every achievement besides Fergie's challenges and the Fashion Beats. I'm sitting at over 200 quit outs, changed into dozens of different outfit combos utilizing every accessory. I've tried hair styles, tattoos, new faces, skin colors, songs, venues, reboots. Nothing seems to trigger it. I'm already cruising past the 15 hour mark of trying for this one challenge. What exactly am I doing wrong?

oxHARMONxoFinally got it. I suppose this one truly is a matter of patience. I believe the outfits help for challenges 1-6, as supported by my spreadsheet. I have my suspicions on how some of these are "triggered", but for 35 and 36, my last two, it's patience.

As of right now, no one has this achievement or the following four achievements which make up this achievement:

The Black Eyed Peas ExperienceTight with TabooThe Tight with Taboo achievement in The Black Eyed Peas Experience worth 269 pointsClear all of Taboo's Dance Challenges

The Black Eyed Peas ExperienceTight with will.i.amThe Tight with will.i.am achievement in The Black Eyed Peas Experience worth 299 pointsClear all of will.i.am's Dance Challenges

The Black Eyed Peas ExperienceTight with FergieThe Tight with Fergie achievement in The Black Eyed Peas Experience worth 299 pointsClear all of Fergie's Dance Challenges

    &
The Black Eyed Peas ExperienceTight with apl.de.apThe Tight with apl.de.ap achievement in The Black Eyed Peas Experience worth 278 pointsClear all of apl.de.ap's Dance Challenges

Although no one can verify this, it is assumed that in order to unlock all accessories you'll have to beat all of the challenges (as defeating each challenge nets you an accessory), in addition to reaching an unknown number of "Followers" (probably at least 50,000 since there is a separate achievement for that).

The problem with the challenges themselves is that they are completely random. When you are lucky enough to get a challenge you'll see a graphic of one of the BEP members alongside the details of the challenge. The BEP member depicted hopefully indicates which member is proposing the challenge (i.e., for the "tight with" achievements). You might as well select it every time as there is no reason not to.

Anyway, what I thought I would do here is compile a list of all of the known challenges. If anyone has been faced with a challenge that isn't in the list below, please indicate this in the comments and I'll try to make an effort to keep this list updated.

So, here is the "hopefully temporarily" incomplete list of challenges:

1 Clear with rank B or higher - Strike the final pose.
2 Clear with rank A or higher.
3 Clear with rank A or higher.
4 Clear with rank A or higher, Strike the final pose.
    5 ?
    6 ?
7 Play in co-op mode - Clear with 96 or more Followers.
8 Clear with 112 or more Followers.
9 Play in co op mode, Clear with 128 or more Followers.
10 Clear with 160 or more Followers.
11 Clear with 192 or more Followers.
12 Play in co op mode, Clear with 224 or more Followers.
13 Clear with 256 or more Followers.
14 Play in co op mode, Clear with 320 or more Followers.
15 Play in co op mode, Clear with 344 or more Followers.
16 Play in co op mode, Clear with 408 or more Followers.
17 Clear with 464 or more Followers.
18 Clear with 584 or more Followers.
19 Clear with rank A or higher - Strike the final pose.
20 Clear with 60 or more "good", "great" or "incredible" dance ratings.
21 Clear with 50 or more "great" or "incredible" dance ratings.
    22 Clear with rank S.
23 Earn 40 or more "incredible" dance ratings.
24 Clear with rank S - Strike the final pose.
25 Earn 30 or more "incredible" dance ratings.
26 Earn 40 or more "incredible" dance ratings.
27 Clear with 45 or more "great" or "incredible" dance ratings.
28 Clear with 60 or more "great" or "incredible" dance ratings.
29 Earn 20 or more "incredible" dance ratings.
30 Earn 30 or more "incredible" dance ratings.
31 Clear with 10 or more smooth transitions.
32 Clear with 15 or more smooth transitions.
33 Clear with 20 or more smooth transitions
34 Clear with 10 or more smooth transitions.
35 Clear with 15 or more smooth transitions.
36 Clear with 20 or more smooth transitions.
37 Play in co-op mode - Hit 7 "in sync" ratings.
38 Play in co op mode, Clear with 10 or more sync bonuses.

A few things to note about the challenges...

If you want to see the list of the challenges you have attempted, you can find them (whether you passed or failed them) under "Career" ===> "My Dancer" ===> "Challenges". Clearly, a "star" on the left-hand side of the challenge's number indicates that you have already passed the challenge.

Once you have beaten a particular challenge, it will not be proposed to you again. If you fail it though, there is a good chance that it'll be the next challenge you see - until you pass it.

If you are nearing the end of the song and you think that you will fail the challenge you can pause the game (with the controller or the "Kinect" way) and restart the song without deactivating the challenge. The challenge is only deactivated by finishing the song or exiting the song outright.

The higher the cumulative difficulty of a particular song (i.e., both the song's difficulty rating, as well as the general difficulty you are playing on) play a role in determining the number of Followers you can and need to get.

You net way more opportunities to get "smooth transitions" if you are dancing the routine for the entire song (i.e., not Step 1, 2 or 3).

Many of the challenges appear to be "difficulty" specific. Meaning that if you are only dancing on "Human" difficulty, you won't get the really hard challenges - they'd be impossible anyway. (Note: Human has a 1X multiplier, Machine has a 2X multiplier, and Alien has a 4X multiplier).

If you are seriously trying to focus on these achievements, I suggest picking a harder song, that you are good at and doing it on "Alien" over and over again. Eventually, you will get a challenge proposed to you and when you do, you will be better prepared to beat the challenge. Again, if you are nearing the end of the song and you are unsure if you'll beat it, restart the song.

Finally, several challenges are co-op (which would explain why several are still unknown as they'll only get proposed to you if you are playing co-op). The problem with co-op is that you can't just have a chair or your 5-year old son be your partner and hope to have any success. In order to gain many followers in co-op mode, you will need to have a partner who can dance well with you. The score you attain in co-op mode is based on the average of both dancers grades. For example, if you get an 'A', but your partner only gets a "C", then expect to have a "B" as your overall grade.

Note: I'd personally like to thank Michael Jackson...errr...Dr Tinus NL, for his help with the solution. If he can't get this done, then noone can! hehehe

Note 2: Per hoLLowPoint75: "I've been on Alien for quite a while now, and I'm convinced that difficulty only has an impact on the followers that can be gained, not the challenges that are issued. I've received challenges for 112 followers and 128 followers in co-op whilst dancing on Alien."

GhostJohn325Just want to point out that from what I noticed while playing, and what I have seen others report, I believe for the character specific challenges to see who you're missing it goes:

    1. will.i.am
    2. apl.de.ap
    3. Taboo
    4. Fergie
    5. will.i.am
    6. apl.de.ap
    7. Taboo
    8. Fergie

etc, etc, etc, in that order.

Taboo and Fergie are the only achievements that can be gotten with a solo player, since will.i.am and apl.de.ap have the two co-op sync challenges.
