An easy way to get this achievement is whenever you go into someones house or an Inn, find any bookshelves you can and just READ the books (hitting X twice). This counts as a read and you also can do it with anyone looking and not have to worry about committing a crime. I don't believe that scrolls counts but I am not 100% sure.

bryan dot exeFinally checked out the comments in this guide, made my way to the Luminary Leaf in Rathir, bought all 17 books, and started reading. The achievement popped after I read the first of 17. haha. Guess I was closer than I had thought.

Juanchu77The scrolls counts. I got my achievement by reading one of the many scrolls scattered through the Teeth of Naros

As an extension of Sepharblue's solution, i found the title of the books DO NOT have to be different, as an example, i read books everywhere i went using Sepharblue's guide, just reading the book while it was still on the bookshelf, but i mustve read at least 12 copies of The Adventure 1, and this seemed to count towards my 50 count.

I didnt try and just open a bookshelf and read the same book 50 times, but i did read the same named books on different bookshelves!

Hope this helps guys, just go and read every book you see, dont worry about the titles.

If I am correct, in Adyssa and Rathir you can find shops which sell books. One I visited had well over 10 books available for purchase. If you know you're close to the achievement (I believe you can check on the Statistics page) simply buy the books, read them until the achievement pops, then revert back to your original save.

(Don't forget to save before you purchase all the books otherwise you'll be stuck with them)

Also, once you've read a book you don't need to hold onto it to continue counting towards the achievement, so if you've already read a book and don't need it for any other purpose, feel free to sell it/junk+destroy it. They take up valuable space otherwise.

ChevelleOrwae Nes is the Merchant in Rathir and he has a total of 17 books. There are also 4 bookcases in the room holding 1 book each (The 5th has a scroll in it.)

Hes in the shop called "The luminary leaf". His merchant mark is on the "Alchemist specialist" shop but hes in fact next door.
