How to unlock the Steady Drivin’ achievement

    Actions
    Drive as slow as you can, is the best tip I can give. To do this keep your hands as close to your chest (still holding the fictitious steering wheel) as you can.

    Most of the obstacles are obvious, but there are some bushes about halfway through the episode that you may hit accidentally. They do pop out a little more than the non-obstacle bushes which are through the episode, but still - be careful around them (note: they occur just before you have that slanted track part).

    Other than that it is pretty straight forward, but if you have a fork in the road

    , take the side which doesn't have any jumps as sometimes the tracking is sketchy with them.

    Brainiac427When I tried the slow-and-steady approach, it took me about eight minutes to get through the course, and I got tripped up about 3/4 of the way through. After emerging from a tunnel, a helicopter starts dropping oil slicks on the road. I must have been going a little too fast, and one was dropped right in front of me. There was no time to avoid it. As far as I can tell, that was the only obstacle I hit, and I didn't get the achievement. I was very upset. The next several times I tried it, I couldn't go more than a couple of minutes without hitting something and gave up.

    Later on, I got the achievement without even trying for it. I was driving recklessly, smashing through Professor Z billboards, gliding on two wheels along the blue rails, and firing rockets and gliding to get the Lightning McQueen coins. I got over 8,000 points and a platinum medal, and then boom! Achievement. No obstacles hit. Go figure.
