How to unlock the Master Tactician achievement

    For each campaign mission, there will be a set of challenges you need to complete in order to unlock the "Master Tactician" achievement. These challenges can be completed on any difficulty apart from the ones that specify to complete them on Elite or Veteran. Once the challenges are complete, don't worry about dieing or failing an objective straight afterwards or later on in a mission, as the challenges stay completed.

    I have a set of videos I would like to share with you all, and in which, I do fail, die and sometimes intentionally restart checkpoints or the whole mission to attempt a challenge at a different difficulty setting or with a different weapon. In saying that, the videos are not a mess and don't showcase five or six retrys of the same challenge.

    Each mission also requires you to achieve a Ghost Score of 60% (very easy) and complete each mission on Elite. Here's a rundown of the challenges for each mission.

    Please note:

    After recording and uploading all of these videos, it's now been revealed that the weapon challenges are not needed in order to unlock the "Master Tactician" achievement although you can still beat these challenges anyway if you want to and unlock some more weapons and accessories.     NIMBLE GUARDIAN

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Field of Fire - Kill 5 or more enemies with a single burst from a LMG (MK48, Stoner 96, LSAT, PKP, Type 95, Ultimax Mk 5, M60, RPK)
    Unlock: PKP
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Express Train - During the ambush at the cog rail station, kill all soldiers in 60 seconds
    • No Witnesses: Don't leave any witnesses alive in Paez's HQ
    • Ace of Diamonds: Execute 10 headshots while in diamond formation
    Unlock - UBSG
    Video Parts for each challenge:

    Express Train: 1.00-1.46

    SUBTLE ARROW

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Overwatch - Eliminate 10 enemies using a sniper rifle without moving (M1 10, SRR, MSR, PSL-54C, VSS, KSVK, M40A5, MN 91/30.)
    Unlock - PSL-54C
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Protector - Complete the mission without causing any civilian casualties
    • Secure the Camp - Eliminate all of the soldiers who have taken control of the refugee camp
    • Steely Gaze - Kill 10 enemies while in Magnetic view
    Unlock - Flash Hider

    NOBLE TEMPEST

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Five Shot - Make five consecutive kills on unalerted enemies using a PDR (PDR-C, L22A2, Goblin, AKS-74U, SR-3M, SA58 OSW, Mk 17)
    Unlock - SR-3M
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Fast Mover - Go through the village in under 60 seconds without any civilians dying
    • Clear the Pitch - Eliminate all the mercs playing soccer without raising the alarm
    • No Blood No Foul - Infiltrate the outpost, retrive the data, & extract without raising the alarm
    Unlock - Drum Magazine
    Video Parts for each challenge:

    Fast Mover - 1.03-1.56
    Five Shot - 2.41-4.01
    Clear the Pitch - 4.58-5.24

    TIGER DUST

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Body Count - Kill 8 enemies in under 30 seconds while using an assault rifle (ACR, 417, TAR-21, AK-200, AN-94, A-91, Mk 14, AK47, F2000, S805)
    Unlock - AK-200
    TACTICAL CHALLENGE:

    • Clean Kills - Assault the HQ and take out the hostiles without any misses
    • Killer Pursuit - Destroy every enemy vehicle during the chopper gunride
    • Bird in the Air - On Elite difficulty, take out the enemy RPG before your chopper gets shot
    Unlock - Optional 2

    if anyone else is having trouble with the Body Count challenge on Tiger Dust, kills with an underbarrel grenade launcher count towards the kill, it doesn't have to be purely bullet based. Using the UGL, I was able to just destroy the vehicles at the end of the mission, making things much easier

    SILENT TALON

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Shotgunner - With a shotgun, take out 3 enemies using exactly 3 cartridges in 3 seconds max (M590A1, M1014, M12, RMB-93, Saiga 12, MTs-255)
    Unlock - RMB-93
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Release the Hound - Use the Warhound to kill at least 75% of the enemies during the mission
    • Group Shot - Kill 5 or more enemies with a single Warhound mortar round
    • Silent Talon - Eliminate both enemy choppers without losing a squadmate
    Unlock - Dual Magazines

    FIREFLY RAIN:

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Efficient Fire - Use an SMG to take out 10 enemies without stopping to reload (MP7, P90, Vector, Skorpion, PP19, PP2000, MP9)
    Unlock - PP19
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Make Them Count - Finish the mission using less than 50 rounds of ammo
    • Ghost Escape - Once the objective's complete, extract without being shot down
    • On Board Clean - On Elite difficulty, sabotage the equipment in less than 20 minutes after insertion
    Unlock - Smoke GL

    EMBER HUNT

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Tight Burst - Take down five enemies with an LMG while firing non-stop
    Unlock - Type 95
    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • No Safe Distance - Stealthily kill all Russian riflemen assaulting the house
    • Neckbreaker - Kill 40 enemies by snapping their necks
    • Death From Above - Kill all the snipers and RPGs during your escape
    Unlock - Dragon's Breath

    • Rifle Master - Kill 8 enemies in under 30 seconds while using an assualt rifle

    • Undetected - Reach the drilling ship entrance without killing any guards
    • Roger Dodger - Once the timer has started, make it to the control room in under 2 minutes
    • Wrecker - Destroy all enemy vehicles during the gunride

    on deep fire you have to blow up all the vehicles even the parked ones. i tried a few times just getting the ones with orange triangles around and not focusing on the parked ones and never got it. Then i tried blowing up all the parked ones as well and it worked

    • Secret Service - On Elite difficulty, find President Volodin inside the prison in under 2 minutes

    • Dodge the Dot - Avoid being taken out by a sniper during the mission
    • Clean Sweep - Clear General Bukharov's room in under 20 seconds
    • Disruptor - Kill at least 10 Bodark while they are still under the effects of an EMP
    Unlock - Raufoss Ammo

    SHATTERED MOUNTAIN

    WEAPON CHALLENGE:

    • Personal Offense - Make five consecutive kills on unalerted enemies using a PDR

    TACTICAL CHALLENGES:

    • Swamp Fox - On Elite difficulty, reach the swamp without being detected
    • Countdown - Kill all the High Value Targets in the farm area in 3 seconds or less
    • HVT - Intercept the two fleeing HVTs in under 6 minutes
    Unlock - Fixed

    iTz Canada EhhCan confirm that it looks like doing the tactical challenge and then quitting out saves the progress for that challenge. I needed the first challenge in Noble Tempest so I did it, then quit out. Loaded up a different mission, then loaded up Noble Tempest again to see if it would still be marked off and it was. Just earned the achievement so it definitely works when you complete the challenge and quit out.

    Axwell DI just wanted to confirm, that it's ok to be in an open conflict on the Swamp Fox challenge. Just make sure, that you yourself are not seen by anyone. I messed up at the barn and also after the chopper flew away and still got the challenge completed.

    x ShadoVV xJust in case anyone keeps restarting the checkpoint for "Bird in the air" on Tiger Dust, as long as you don't get hit by the RPG you are good to go. I thought you had to kill them before they even shot AT you. For those like me that spent 30 minutes restarting facepalm

    Here's my list of the challenges I found the hardest and how to get them. There weren't very many, but hopefully this helps!!

    Mission 1: Nimble Guardian:
    Tactical Challenge:

    Ace of Diamonds: my tips, when you are in the slow-mo scenes for the headshots, don't be afraid to miss on the high side, instead of going low and getting a body shot kill. Just spray and pray above and around their heads and you should get this one easier! You do get about 15+ enemies potential to shoot at so plenty of targets.

    Mission 2: Subtle Arrow:
    Weapon Challenge:

    For this one, keep a sniper to the end of the mission or pick one up at the weapon's crate right near the hangers at the airfield, then when you get the downed plane, there are some crates behind the downed plane. I chose one that was as far away from the plane as possible, where I could still see the incoming enemies in front of the plane and also have a good shot at the ones coming behind. You'll get up to 7 or so in front, and then the pickups behind the plane will be the rest. Careful... you will get shot from behind near the end of this scene. :-)

    Mission 3: Noble Tempest:
    Tactical Challenge:

    No Blood No Foul: For this one, I found it easiest, with just one player if you're playing coop... to sneak around the right side; you can make it without eliminating any enemies easily in and out through the market there. Just get in cover quit if you're about to be spotted and use sensor grenades. Beware a couple enemies in particular: one is walking through the market near where you will be going on the right side and can spot you, and there's another that is walking behind the little building to the left of the hillside as you're heading up to the car that has the objective.

    Mission 4: Tiger Dust:
    Weapon Challenge:

    Easiest is taking a assault rifle with a grenade launcher, and blowing up the trucks where you are trying to capture the lady after her truck rolls over. Shout out to TheTCD for the tip! Multiple trucks roll in, and with good timing you'll annihilate them.

    Mission 5: Silent Talon:
    Weapon Challenge:

    You can do this right at the start with a shotgun. Sneak up on the enemies that get out of the truck and are grouped up on the right. You'll need to wait for the perfect time, If they are too close together then you'll kill 2 with one shot.. that won't count unfortunately! Maneuver around and you'll find the perfect angle and time to get three with 3 shots. I did it when the one walking from the truck was about 10 feet from the other 2.

    Mission 6: Firefly Rain:
    Weapon Challenge:

    Fairly easy, but be warned, in my coop game, resetting checkpoints apparently resets the counter!!
    Tactical Challenge:
    Make them Count:
    I had my teammates do most of the sync shots through the mission. However, can someone shout out about the final firefight? I got this challenge fairly straightforward, but can't remember if it popped before or after the final firefight. Also! If you're playing in coop, it appears that your friends shots COUNT for your total. So, I recommend this one solo!
    Ghost Escape:
    This one was an absolute pain. If one of your AI teammates gets downed, you automatically fail this challenge! A huge help for this mission is taking an AR with grenade launcher underbarrel attachment from the beginning of the mission. That final firefight turns into a piece of cake if you can find a good camping spot. I recommend, as soon as the firefight begins, grenade launcher the vehicles nearby so they won't blow up later, then hide behind one near the ammo crate. From that position, chuck sensor grenades, mark for your teammates, and blow everything sky high with your grenade launcher. MAKE SURE you take out the LMG gunners coming down the hill as soon as possible, and be warned, enemies will flank to the right, and now that you know, you can eliminate their entire group each time with a grenade launcher round to the ground next to the barrier they are hiding behind. The grenade launcher is AMAZING. :-D

    Mission 7: Ember Hunt:
    Weapon Challenge:

    I recommend doing this one at the very start as there is the minimum loading time between repeated attempts. Also! If you do this one coop, get your teammate to do a sync shot right as you start. If solo, I believe you can sync a shot with the AI, and get the screen to slow down. It will help very much!! Recommended standing location for the LMG shooting is on the right side of the first little wood/cover/wall on the little hill where you can overlook everything. The recommended enemies for the 5 kills are in order, the two behind the sandbags in the building far back right, the two walking around in front between you and them, the one enemy much closer down in front, and then the two at the checkpoint with the car. Have your AI take out the rooftop machine gunner, the RPG, and the enemy down in front in the destroyed building.
    Tactical Challenges:
    No Safe Distance:

    After doing this one many times, a few time-saving tips. DO NOT try to do the neckbreaker challenge at the same time. If you advance up to halfway toward the house they are assaulting, an explosion/flashbang will go off failing this challenge. It's easy enough to take out the two up top, then in this order, eliminate the rest. 1st sync shot, 3 enemies, the two closest to you, front left and front right, and the second closest on the right side. 2nd sync shot, right side, all 3 enemies, two close to each other, one up against the target house. 3rd sync shot, left side, all 4? enemies that are not at the building. And last sync shot, the three enemies up against the building. I recommend reloading this checkpoint to go for the neckbreaker challenge after you get this challenge.
    Neckbreaker challenge:
    What can I say, other than.. you better be playing on recruit, and have lots of patience. Use flashbangs, sensors, and start from the beginning. If you use your teammates well and are really sneaky, you can get 6-7 kills in the very first section. However, it's very hard to get rid of the rooftop machine gunner without being spotted. You can run around the left side and eliminate 4 easily that way though. Moving through the mission, you're going to need to do lots of hand-to-hand combat while in open combat. Restock on flashbangs, run around, melee everything, get more flashbangs, you get the picture. I think I had around 23 melee kills after the area of the house assault. I got 5 before the scripted flashbangs/explosion go off, then a LOT more running around after that. You'll die a lot. lol. Just a warning. :-D The next great area is when you're moving up on the church, you can get at least 5 more here, but watch the timer, you'll need about 15 seconds to make it through the church; the timer stops when you make it to the objective. For the rest of the kills, grab some moving through the ambush in the church, and a few right after that area... and the final ambush after your chopper is shot down, they'll come right up to you frequently. Swing away! :-)

    Mission 8: Deep Fire:
    Weapon Challenge:

    For this one, play recruit unless you're amazing... and get it when you're going up the stairs. I recommend the 75 round magazine if you have it, and UNDERBARREL Grenade launcher!! :-D Don't stress about getting it at the lower area of the stairs, once you go up about 2 levels, then rush it. You'll get enough enemies near the top and there are 3 more in the control room/other side upstairs as well. If you have a timer nearby, set it for a countdown of 25 seconds and count how many you shoot at the same time so you know your progress.
    Tactical Challenge:
    Undetected:

    Someone else recommended going the right side... I found that going left through the little shortcut area was really clear... your choice but that worked fairly well. However, be really careful with the guards just outside the ship. If left doesn't work for you, try right side, and watch out for the guard post at the gate. I got spotted there by the guy on the roof too many times.

    Mission 9: Valiant Hammer:
    Weapon Challenge:

    I got this right after the cutscene where you're under a bridge and trucks roll over it. About halfway through the mission I think. Go up the hill, stealth, toss a sensor grenade forwards, and wait for the 3 closest enemies to be close to each other. Then Run and gun them down. You'll probably die, but you should be able to get the challenge. :-)
    Tactical Challenge:
    Innovative Diversity:

    Your teammates are a big help on this, they will switch to secondaries sometimes and give you a few extra counts. You should be able to get it fairly easily, I was far more worried than I should've been, just make sure you scavenge around the fallen enemies for new weapons, and write them down if you think you'll forget! A HUGE help for finding weapons is magnetic mode, they stand out from 100 feet away. You'll have to play through at least half of the mission before getting the challenge, but you can get it fairly easily. I started the mission trying to pick a couple uncommon weapons, and also made sure I had silencers.

    Mission 10: Gallant Thief:
    Tactical Challenge:
    Secret Service:

    This one is tricky, until you know how to do it. The President is in the very last cell. I had a timer going while I did this one so I could see how I was doing. From the moment the timer starts counting down, here's what I did. Sprint to the open room, stealth right before it.. sneak through on the right side, but stay away from the vents! You appear to lose camo and get detected if you walk too close. Head into the room straight ahead, stealth eliminate the guard, then sprint through the hallway ahead until you see the next guard. Stealth, sneak up behind him, eliminate. Go up the far left stairway and stealth eliminate the guard walking up there, and immediately the next one on the right(you can sprint to him if you want. Sprint forwards if you wish keeping the post between you and the guard standing in front a cell door on the left side. Hug the left wall, stealth eliminate him, then get the next guard ASAP. From there, Mark and shoot with a suppressor the guard in the little booth at the end of the passageway, hurry down and throw a sensor grenade in the lower area. There are two guards in the room on the left across from the last jail cell. You can take them both out fairly quickly with suppressor shots and then hurry to the jail cell.

    Mission 11: Invisible Bear:
    Weapon Challenge:

    This one is GLITCHED!! I had to delete the installed game, and clear my HD cache. Then it worked. Also take note, for this challenge, if you are in coop sync shots, it will reset your counter! You need your teammates to shoot independent sync shots from you, and you just shoot on own time. You can get 2 kills near the start on the two enemies walking up the stairs to the right of the tank, just get their heads lined up in a row and boom. You could get up to 5 kills in the starting area, but remember not to sync shot with your teammates. The rest are fairly easy on the roof, I HIGHLY recommend the Exacto ammo. Don't miss. :-)
    Tactical Challenge:
    Disruptor:

    This was my last challenge, and was very frustrating until I learned a few things. First, let your teammates get downed if possible. They won't shoot any of your targets then! 2nd, tell them to shoot any enemies that show up with sensor grenades. Those are not Bodarks. 3rd, in the rooftop fight where you first see Bodarks, you can get up to 5 kills in my experience. It'll take some restarts.... but it seemed like the counter would NOT go over 5 kills for some reason even though I EMP'ed and killed at least 10. 4th, grenade launcher works big time and melee if they are close range. And 5th tip, use your Magnetic View!! You can see all the enemies and instantly tell which are Bodarks because they won't show up with sensor grenades until you EMP them. Don't worry if you don't have many from the first area, when you get the firefight in the office, there are a lot of Bodarks. Once again, use your grenade launcher, magnetic view, and run back to the ammo crate at the beginning of the room as necessary for EMP grenades. If you flank up the right side, you'll get 7+ easily making this challenge come to a very satisfying conclusion!

    Mission 12: Shattered Mountain:
    Tactical Challenges:
    Swamp Fox:

    This one was tricky for me on how to figure out the barn firefight.... the order I ended up using was this: Wait for the one walking to the rear of the barn to get there before taking these out: Targets 1-4, the HVT in the barn and the two closest to him, and the target upstairs(the upstairs target will for some reason spot things magically). Magnetic view helps! Then ASAP take out Target 5, the guard walking at the rear of the barn, or have a teammate take him out. He won't see the downed bodies until he starts walking that way. From here, move around behind the left side of the barn, Targets 6-9; two close targets, and two far targets, one near the vehicle in the back, and one near the water tower. From here, after elimination, move around the left to the fence that goes around the back of the barn where the last 5 enemies are. Tag all except for one of the ones standing guard at the barn entrance. You'll take out both guards there, one right after you sync shot the other. Area clear! Btw, in my game, enemies didn't spawn properly at the barn, but could still see me!?!?! if I didn't clear the first building first. And a tip for the first building, don't forget about the guard behind it. Mark all 4, if you run in a big right to left circle, you can get around the far side of the house and sneak past that guard just in time to tag #4 and do a sync shot. I was always almost discovered though so it's tricky timing. Mark the first two as you're moving around the house before they are out of sight, or use a sensor grenade.
