This a main storyline achievement.

You get this on World 1 (On the Path) /Level 8. This is the last level on the first 'page' of levels. You'll automatically know it's a boss level because of the Dark Ninja Mask on top of the level's '8' circle.

The boss has four 'stages' which are each defined by seperate segments of the boss's life bar. This boss is extremely simple, and basically tests out how well you've learnt dodging (side to side movement), and how well you've become accustomed to the weaponry at your disposal. The boss will always perform a Ground Pound attack throughout all four stages, but will do different areas of damage dependant on his position in the game area. He will also be invulnerable (because of his armour) except for just before he attacks, and for a short amount of time after he attacks - see each stage of the fight below for details.

Stage 1: Long-Range Combat (Bow & Arrow)
Boss Attack Range: 1 Column - The column the boss is in
This stage of the fight is done completely using your bow & arrows.
The boss only has one attack in this stage of the fight, which is a 1-column fissure-like attack coming from a Ground Pound from one of his fists. It will always strike in the column that the boss is standing in.

To cause damage in this stage of the fight, you must use your Bow & Arrows. If you have the ability/skill to fire off arrows at a rate of at least one a second, when the boss has selected a column to stand in (when he's stopped moving), go to the same column, and fire arrows off as fast as you can. When you see his fist hit the ground for his attack, move left or right to dodge the attack. As soon as the attack has gone past Hiro (your character), move back into the column he's in, and fire as many arrows as possible. You should be able to finish off this stage of the fight within three or four boss attacks, maybe less.

Stage 2: Medium-Range combat (Throwing Stars)
Boss Attack Range: 2-3 Columns - See below
- Column #1 (Far Left): Columns 1 & 2
- Column #2 (Second Left): Columns 1, 2, & 3
- Column #3 (Middle): Columns 2, 3, & 4
- Column #4 (Second Right): Columns 3, 4, & 5
- Column #5 (Far Right): Columns 4 & 5.

This stage of the fight is done completely using your Throwing Stars.
Once you've finished stage 1 of the fight, hold your arms out to your side, horizontally, to activate your throwing stars.

The boss only has one attack in this stage of the fight, which is a 2/3-column fissure-like attack coming from a Ground Pound from both of his fists. It will strike as described above in the stage-of-fight description.

To cause damage in this stage of the fight, you must use your Throwing Stars. I did find throwing the stars rather twitchy, as I was at first throwing them like throwing a ball. I then changed my motion to how I would throw a frisbee, and I had much more success. I do not recommend trying to attack the boss before he does his attack, as you don't have much time once he attacks to dodge the two columns of movement required. Instead, wait for him to attack (by staying at least two columns away from him at all times), and then rushing into the boss's column once he's attacked, and frisbee-ing as many Throwing Stars as you can to damage him. You should be able to finish off this stage of the fight within three or four boss attacks, maybe less.

Stage 3: Close-Range combat (Sword)
Boss Attack Range: 4 Columns - All columns except directly in front of the boss - see below
- Column #1 (Far Left): Columns 2, 3, 4, & 5
- Column #2 (Second Left): Columns 1, 3, 4, & 5
- Column #3 (Middle): Columns 1, 2, 4, & 5
- Column #4 (Second Right): Columns 1, 2, 3, & 5
- Column #5 (Far Right): Columns 1, 2, 3, & 4.

This stage of the fight is done completely using your Sword.
Once you've finished stage 2 of the fight, move your right arm back over your right shoulder to equip your sword.

The boss only has one attack in this stage of the fight, which is a 4-column fissure attack that goes sideways away from the boss, hitting all columns that the boss is not standing in. This means that in this stage of the fight, when the boss is attacking, always stand directly in front of him.

To cause damage in this stage of the fight, you must use your Sword. As stated in the paragraph above, the boss hits all columns that he's not standing in, so as he's moving about, try to stay directly in front of him by moving left and right. When he stops, he'll do his attack, which leans his head down. Attack with your sword as quick as you can for damage. Because it's the simplest attack (sword swipe) in the game, you should be be able to finish off this stage of the fight within two or three boss attacks.

Stage 4: All ranges of combat (All weapons)
Boss Attack Range: As stated in previous three stages of the boss fight.

This stage of the fight is done using all of your weaponry.

In this stage, the boss will randomly change between the three previous stages of the fight, which means you must be able to change your weapon quickly, and be ready to dodge each attack when required. Stage 4 of this fight has a larger part of the boss's health bar, about 1.5x, so changing your weapon quickly is a necessity. Follow the instructions for the previous three stages of the fight, and upon the boss's defeat, the achievement will pop.
