It's tough to give step by step on the time trials, so I will just give general tips, Levels I had most trouble with, and my times(with the 3 star time in parentheses)

Before I give my guide, be aware that there are probably plenty of people with better strategies than me. If you got a better time than me and have a detailed strategy, leave it in the comments and I will include you (giving you credit of course) in my guide

Start sliding your finger before the trial starts

Most levels are pretty simple and can be done in 1,2 or 3 tries

Very few levels allow a mistake. If you make a mistake, just restart.

If you aren't coming within 1 to 3 seconds of 3 star time, you are more than likely taking a wrong route.

Drop from zip lines instead of taking them all the way to the end

Try to jump over as much of a balance beam as possible

DO NOT disarm enemies, only slide into or jump kick them

Typically the higher path is the fastest path, BUT NOT ALWAYS

I rolled a lot. I'm not sure it makes a difference, but I felt like it did. Make sure to always roll out of any high fall

You must be patient. I started getting angry always coming up short on a few levels, but that causes more mistakes

Be willing to move on and come back to levels you are stuck on for too long

Like I said before, you should only struggle with a few levels, or you might breeze through all of them.

Levels I struggled on:

1-1 Transmission - This one was my third hardest level. Take a straightforward path, riding the walls when possible. Once you run down a slanted building, take the bottom path and then when you get to the area where you can jump up to a higher platform DO NOT DO IT, TAKE THE BOTTOM PATH AND BOUNCE UP THE WALL. Once you get to the second area where you can jump to a higher platform, TAKE THE UPPER PATH THIS TIME. Continue to the end of the level

3-1 Ambush - What finally got me the 3 stars was jumping onto that crane near the beginning and then continuing through the level after that. I beat the 3 star time by almost 5 seconds as soon as I did that.

4-1 Fugitive... This level is TOUGH to say the least. I was only able to beat the 3 star time by .37 seconds. To start, you should slide your finger back as soon as you fall off so you can hit the building again and then just roll out of the fall. You should be at 12 seconds or less by the time you jump to and land on the second building. THIS SECTION seemed to be the turning point for me. Once I made changes here, The 3 stars came soon after

Once you ride a wall and land on the slab next to it, turn around IMMEDIATELY and jump on top of the building you were just riding.

Continue through the level and when you start hanging off of poles, you must drop off of each one as fast as possible (make sure not to fall off)

I thought I had perfect runs so many times and kept coming up short, and even when I got the 3 stars, I BARELY got it.

Those were the 3 levels I struggled with. It took me multiple tries on some other levels, but the other levels were mostly due to mistakes more than anything else.

Tips from other people:

Minchy Munchkin: "Just to add to your comments on 4-1. On the switch back, if you ride the wall high enough it's possible to turn around mid-air saving .5 or so seconds. And on the poles, after jumping right Soto the first pole on the building, you can just jump off to the right and land on the crane, saves droping down and jumping right twice and cut almost 2.5 seconds off my time!"

Feared American: "I found two significant "shortcuts" that help a great deal with 2-2 and 4-1. In actuality, I could probably train a baboon to get past 4-1 with what I learned.

In 2-2: At the start, once you gain control, quickly swipe to the left twice so you perform a karate kick (?) away from the wall you are sliding down to start and begin a fall towards your death. Now this next part is critical and the timing is essential: You must swipe down to barrel roll at the precise moment just before you impact the elevator. If done properly you will roll away and start sliding on the left wall of the elevator shaft and NOT die. If done too early Faith will make the death scream sound and the game will fade to black and you will begin again at the top. If done too late you will simply die. If I try this technique ten times I will fail at it about 8 or 9 times. But that one time you succeed you will save around 5 seconds, which makes the rest of the level so much easier. You will probably try this 10 or 15 tries before you get it to work the first time but keep trying! It's right at the beginning and 5 seconds is a LOT of time in these speedruns.

In 4-1: Near the end of the level when you hit the LAST radar dish checkpoint, continue moving forward and jump over the box in front of you. Now simply fall down between the two buildings (that's the building you're on and the next one -- there is a gap between both) and slide down on the right building. After a few seconds of sliding you can fall off and land on the crane below you. This saves over 5 seconds and skips the entire section where you have to jump from pole to pole -- you should NOT touch any poles in this section or even approach the area where they are!

One final semi-tip for 3-1:

When you reach the corridor with lots of enemies right at the end of the level after ascending a small bit in an elevator shaft, concentrate on JUMPING whenever you can. Yes it might slow you down but it avoids so much more of the damage you take from gunfire, which can easily kill you if you just run straight on through. I was consistently dying in this area when I first got here in the campaign but to my amazement learned that Faith can actually jump over flying bullets.

This is especially helpful in the last few feet right after you encounter the Runner, which is the area where you cannot kill any of the enemies."
