This achievement is straightforward, but which bands are viable options? I scoured through the Rock Band song list so you don't have to! If you don't have enough DLC already, this list may help you make an investment from which you can get both this achievement and further enjoyment. With this variety of choices, you shouldn't have to buy songs you don't care for. Still, unless you have a head start on owning songs, this might end up costing you as much as the game itself.

Here is the (ever-changing) song count for every band with 10 or more songs, which include all DLC (the song and its keyboard version or x2 bass pedal version if applicable) and the set lists from every Rock Band game released to date including Blitz (for lesser-known bands, assume they're a metal band unless I mention otherwise):

74 - The Beatles (unusable because they cannot be exported from Beatles: Rock Band)
50 - Green Day (If you have Green Day: Rock Band, you're all set so long as you pay the export fee)
43 - Amberian Dawn
35 - Queen
30 - Foo Fighters
28 - Red Hot Chili Peppers
27 - Bob Marley and the Wailers
27 - Jimi Hendrix and the Experience
26 - Pearl Jam
24 - Halcyon Way (12 songs, each with a x2 bass pedal version)
23 - No Doubt (my personal choice)
23 - The Clash
22 - Judas Priest
22 - Chaotrope
21 - Megadeth
20 - Nirvana
20 - Rush
19 - Iron Maiden
19 - The Grateful Dead
19 - AC/DC (only possible with retail track pack as far as I know)
18 - Billy Joel
18 - The Main Drag (alternative)
17 - The Who
16 - All Shall Perish
16 - Jonathan Coulton (rock)
16 - Spinal Tap
16 - Creedence Clearwater Revival
16 - All Shall Perish (8 songs, each with a x2 bass pedal version)
16 - Devin Townsend (2 songs + 7 with a x2 bass pedal version)
15 - Ozzy Osbourne
15 - Fallen Angel
15 - Guns N' Roses
15 - The Pixies
15 - Bon Jovi
15 - Weezer
14 - Pantera
14 - Free Spirit (rock)
14 - Blink-182
13 - The Doors
13 - Asking Alexandria
13 - Mötley Crüe
13 - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
12 - Disturbed
12 - Jane's Addiction
12 - A Day to Remember
11 - Linkin Park
11 - R.E.M.
11 - Freen in Green (novelty/prog)
11 - Evile
11 - Alice in Chains
11 - Avenged Sevenfold
11 - Rose of Jericho (Christian rock)
11 - David Bowie
11 - Stone Temple Pilots
11 - The Police
11 - Nine Inch Nails
11 - Nickelback
10 - Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble
10 - After The Burial
10 - John Lennon

Use Harmonix's Song Finder on the Rock Band webpage to find out which songs:

I assume a song and its RB3 or x2 bass pedal version each count as their own song, but I wouldn't risk trying to join songs from "Tom Petty" with those from "Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers" or "Jimi Hendrix" with "Jimi Hendrix and the Experience" and that sort of thing.

More than anything, I recommend you purchase songs you'd enjoy playing if don't already have enough for this achievement, but if you're purely concerned about the cost, here are your best options:

1. If you have Green Day: Rock Band, use those songs. Pay the 800MSP to export them if you haven't.

2. I know little about the retail AC/DC track pack, but if you can still get a hold of it (it should be cheap now) and export it, that might be a good way to get the achievement. The track pack comes with its own 250 points of achievements as well.

***3. (This is what I'd have done if I didn't already have the No Doubt Singles Album) Buy songs from The Main Drag because their songs are half the normal price. If you have "A Jagged Gorgeous Winter" (free export from RB2), then this is likely the cheapest solution at 720MSP. Also check out metal artists Chaotrope, Devin Townsend, and Halcyon Way because most of their songs are also 80 MSP each.

4. If you have every Rock Band (1, 2, 3, and LEGO) game except Green Day, like me, then you have 4 songs from the Foo Fighters and Queen, 3 from The Who, the Police, and Avenged Sevenfold, and various others from the other possible bands. Building on one of these artists is probably your best choice. Keep in mind that you also need to have the other applicable games exported; this is a poor option if you haven't done it yet because they cost between 400 and 800 MSP each.

5. Make use of one of Harmonix's large packs, which provide a reasonable deal if you're starting with nothing or very little:
- Since you get "Give It Away" in Blitz, if you have "Dani California" from RB, get RHCP's 8-song pack for 1080MSP.
- Since you get a Queen song in Blitz, get Queen's 9-song pack for 1200MSP
- If you have "Imagine" from RB3, get John Lennon's 9-song album pack for 1200MSP.
- If you have "Painkiller" from RB2, get Judas Priest's 9-song album pack for 1200MSP.
- Get Pantera's 10-song album pack for 1280MSP.
- Get Motley Crue's 10-song album pack for 1280MSP.
- Get Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble's 10-song album pack for 1280MSP
- All other albums run at 1440-1600MSP, but they include larger groups of songs so you might want to take a look at them as well. Smaller song packs from the Foo Fighters, Weezer, and others can also help you save money

6. Otherwise, just pick your favorite band from the list and go wild for a potential 1600MSP.

If you know of any other bands that work or have any other good ideas relating to the achievement, let everyone know in the comments! I'm also interested in hearing which band you chose.
