First of all, I highly recommend working on this and the "Genre Diehard" achievement at the same time.
Rock Band BlitzGenre DiehardThe Genre Diehard achievement in Rock Band Blitz worth 19 pointsPlay at least 50 unique songs in the same genre.

This solution assumes that all you have is the 25 songs that come with Rock Band Blitz. The game comes with two songs that are both Decade: 1990s and Genre: Alternative.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away
    Barenaked Ladies - One Week

On the Rock Band downloadable content, there are 82 songs that are both alternative and 1990s (see list below). simply purchase/download any 48 of them, and once you play all 50 you will unlock both achievements.

That is a lot of DLC, but by doing it this way you get a little more "bang for your buck", knocking out two achievements at once.

If you already have some DLC/songs imported from previous Rock Band titles, you may want to revise this strategy a bit. Other possible combinations include: 70s classic rock (over 100 DLC songs), 80s Metal (over 60 songs), and 2000s pop-rock (over 80 songs). See here for a complete list of downloadable songs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_list_of_downloadable_s...
Sort the list by decade and it will automatically sort within each decade by genre.

And now for the list of 90s alternative. Several of the songs are part of a pack or album, and you can sometimes save MS Points by buying them in packs, but you are not required to buy a whole pack, and can instead purchase any song you want individually.

Red Hot Chili Peppers/Blood Sugar Sex Magik:

The largest decade represented in the Rock Band songlist (including DLC) by far is the 2000s, but you can also get 50 unique songs from virtually every other decade, except the 50s (Johnny Cash only).

If you want a headstart from the on-disc songs you should buy songs in the same decade most represented in Blitz itself, being the 2010s (10 songs). A list of all Rock Band DLC is available on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_list_of_downloadable_s...

Pyro FoolI looked at the in-game music store. Take a look at the official website: http://www.rockband.com/songs/oobydooby

chiokjarseOoby Dooby by Roy Orbison doesn't count as 50s for the Music Historian achievement, so it probably counts for the 80s for this achievement. http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231443

A Wise Moosei bought ooby-dooy for the every decade achievement, but after you buy it it is listed under the 80's because the version is from a greatest hits album.
