    Actions
    To purchase items from the black market you must do the following:
    1) Find Sanctuary - Story Mission
    2) Complete the first mission given by Scooter
    3) Then after that Crazy Earl should start appearing next to Mad Moxxi's place
    4) To buy upgrades you must pay in Eridian (purple crystals)
    5) To find Eridian crystals you can either get them from completing missions, scavenging them from enemies or looting them out of boxes/crates/lockers/etc

    Just to throw my hat in the ring, Go to the black market in Sanctuary (its the purple door) and trade in eredium for upgrades. I suggest you play in CO-OP. You get bigger rewards. So instead of finding 1 or 2 bars of eredium at a time, you'll find 5 to 7. Which makes buying more items easier and faster, especially when the third, fourth and fifth items go for around 8 bars each.

    The "black market" is when you buy items from Crazy Earl in the Sanctuary. These are your backpack and ammo upgrades and require eredium (the purple crystals) to purchase these items. Buy 5 upgrades and you've got it!
