How to unlock the Lunar Lunatic achievement

I have to disagree with the above solution.. I tried all the ships, and the RED ship was infinitely easier to win with. In the 2nd and 3rd level, there are a lot of tight spaces, so the alternate fire (which bounces off the top and bottom sides of the screen even with no walls, BTW) made it much easier to take out enemies from a safe position.

    A few other general tips:

    * Practice each level by itself until you are comfortable with getting through it fairly well. Then tackle all 3 at once.

    * DON'T use the special weapon. It eats up weapon energy, and you want to keep the strongest weapon as long as possible.

    * In keeping with the above, your first priority on dying should be trying to scoop up the energy you leave behind.

    * If you're having trouble with the invincible triple laser guy on level 3... just go behind him :)

Major credit to DuWease for their initial solution. The solution itself and the comments found on it were hugely influential in my experience completing this achievement and making this solution. I just wanted to build on everything and have something a bit more comprehensive for you all that can continue to grow since DuWease is no longer active on TA / Xbox. (See the Community Advice section)

Oh boy... This achievement took me a while to complete, so let's get started!

First of all, the ship I would recommend is the Solar Dominion or the Storm Conductor. Personally, I succeeded with the Solar Dominion as the Bouncing Spread Shot helped an incredible amount.

And when it comes to general gameplay, collect as many fuel / battery cells as possible to earn points and power up your Gun Meter as fast as possible. Every 10000 points earned will result in you getting 1 life, and SO WILL COMPLETING A LEVEL!

Now let's talk about each level!

    Level 1:
Nothing too insane to talk about with this level, but when it comes to the boss fight, stay below the "lip" of the boss using your Straight Shot (since it has splash damage) and then in between the Boss' attacks, go to the centre and shoot into it's "mouth". See 06:55 in the video to see what I mean.

    Level 2:
The "caves" are REALLY ANNOYING. You can lose a ton of lives with simple mistakes, so I would highly recommend you learn the paths by playing this level individually and practicing so you are prepared. My rule of thumb: Straight Shot to be used in cramped areas, bouncing shot to be used in more open areas or when there are no enemies directly in front of you.

Once you make it through the "caves", you are going to be fighting the boss. This boss is fairly simple, but also quite difficult at times. Immediately when the boss shows up, spam your explosive straight shot in the centre of the screen on the right side. This damages the boss before they can even attack you!

If you're lucky, you can do a TON of damage really quick. After that, avoid the attacks while using the straight shot or bounce shot to damage the heads as much as possible, and try your best to avoid the laser. I died a ton on this boss when practicing, but with the above tips I beat this boss without dying once. See 10:49 in the video.

    Level 3:
Quite a long level if you ask me! A much easier level to navigate than the second level, but there are plenty of areas where you can make a mistake! For the tesla, do your best to avoid the initial attacks and then once it starts moving and firing rapidly, rotate around the tesla coil to avoid damage quite easily (12:50). When it comes to the soldier guy that shoots beams at you, get on his right side and you will be safe (see 13:35). And finally, when it comes to the boss, spam the bouncer shot and avoid the boss' attacks to the best of your ability. If you spam the bouncer shot that the Solar Dominion has, this boss will be defeated in a decent amount of time. Remember to use your flamethrower, but also take into account that if you drop below 75% on your gun meter, you will lose your power weapons!

Once the final boss is defeated, that is Lunar Lunatic unlocked! Hope I was able to help you with the video below and the information I have provided.

sobadnomadThis video helped me emensly. I could beat level 1 without dying half the time and got to the 2nd boss while only dying twice. 2nd boss keeps killing me though it's pretty luck based. Level 3 isn't even hard but I lose right before I am about to win hahaha.

Considering I watched the video once and made it to the final boss first attempt yeah why isn't this the top guide?

Also it is an Xbox 360 game, next generation consoles don't run 360 games any better and if anything make them worse.

BearlyCompleteGreat to hear sobadnomad ! I'm glad this video was able to help out

And that's good info to know that it may be better to run on an Xbox 360 over a newer console. Only thing I could think to the contrary is that I'm almost certain it runs at 60fps on the Series X. If that even gives much of an edge to players

HamsterLVThanks for the video, helped me out a lot. This achievement was terrible!
If you are thinking to start this game, don't, this achievement and a couple of others will drain your life force. This achievement alone took me way over 10h!
