This can be tough, but is made amazingly easier by the simple save/load trick!
This is also only obtainable in the Strategy game unfortunately, so your campaign victories won't count.
You'll want to start up a strategy game with these general settings:
Captured Islands Count: Few-Medium
Enemy Strength: Strong
Startup Resources: High
Islands Output Rate: High
Once you start the game, you should be able to use the same map for all 9 island capture achievements related to difficulty. I personally started out with Very Strong because I saw that first, then Strong, and lastly Deadly, all in the same Strategy game. Make frequent saves!
(I then went and killed the enemy carrier just for fun and it was HARD!! It went berserk when I finally torpedoed it after getting destroyed the first time.. I got behind it though and plasma'd it to death--Very satisfying!)

The main difference between the island difficulty is generally the amount of units and turrets on the island.
Strong: about 50% of the turrets and generally 2-3 Mantas and 2 Walrus watching each area of the island.
Very Strong: About 75% of the turrets and usually 4-5 Mantas and 3-4 Walrus are watching each of the different areas.
Deadly: 100% of the turrets and clouds of Mantas and Walrus are roaming the island.

In order to defeat the Deadly Island effectively, I found a very simple safe strategy to use, and wish I had used it earlier!
You will be equipping 4 Mantas with Shields, Gatling or Laser or Plasma, Missiles or Rockets, and either no armor or MK 1.
Extra tips/ideas on Mantas equipment:
*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Once the strategy game starts, you need to do several things:
1. Figure out how many items for your Mantas you actually already have.
2. Go to production with cn_X while your carrier is selected and order the ones you need!
3. Look around at the enemy islands, press cn_RT while looking at one in the map view, and you'll see stats about the island. If it's unknown, you'll have to get closer to the island to find out it's defense level. Just look for one that's Deadly, and try to park near there with step 4.
4. Send your carrier around in time warp to different islands until she runs out of fuel(preferably near your deadly island) Doing this will put your carrier in permanent time warp allowing production to go MUCH faster.
5. Wait until all the items are produced, sending them to your carrier bit by bit so you don't overload your barque.
6. Make periodic saves so the enemy carrier doesn't suddenly blow you out of the water and you have to start over!
Good, you've got your Mantas equipped, you're at your Deadly Island, and what's next?
It's a mix of hard, and easy. You just have to practice taking one Manta at a time into the action, back out when you lose your shields, take out AA turrets from max range with Missiles, shoot down any Mantas attacking you with Gatling, and clean up any Walrus with Gatling as well once the turrets are down. When you run out of Missiles, use your afterburner towards your carrier, switch to map view with cn_RB, tell your Manta to land with cn_B, and then select a new Manta and send it into the action!
Targets priority:
1. Radar Dish.
2. Production facilities(Manta hangers marked with H, Walrus garages marked with P)
3. All enemies.
4. All turrets.(watch out for sneaky turrets on the walls around the command center--they don't show up with the Manta unless really close and can take out Walrus very fast!)

Most likely you will have taken out most enemies and turrets before the others especially on a Deadly island, but once you've got things cleared out, send in a Walrus with a hacking module equipped(hacking module looks like a Wi-Fi signal), and optionally slightly faster, use a Manta with a hook equipped to fly the Walrus straight to the command center.

You're now at the easy part! Bring your Walrus to the command center, and SAVE YOUR GAME. Start the hack, and save again when there's one hack bar left. Now, let the hack complete, and you'll get this achievement if you don't have it already:
Carrier Command: Gaea MissionBalls Of Steel MK.IThe Balls Of Steel MK.I achievement in Carrier Command: Gaea Mission worth 115 pointsCapture 1 island with a Deadly defense

Reload the save up to 9 more times and you'll get your achievement:
Carrier Command: Gaea MissionBalls Of Steel MK.IIThe Balls Of Steel MK.II achievement in Carrier Command: Gaea Mission worth 279 pointsCapture 10 islands with a Deadly defense

And do it 15 more times and you're done with Deadly Islands!
