This achievement is given for beating the game on 'Hardcore' difficulty. You must start a new campaign with this difficulty selected - you cannot choose it from Mission Select.

To unlock this difficulty you must first beat the game on 'Hard'.

In this mode, the difficulty is turned down to Normal but with _all_ checkpoints removed. If you die or fail an objective (anything that brings up a 'Retry?' screen) you are returned to the beginning of Mission 1: 'Unintended Consequences'. Think of it as an analogue to 'New York Minute Hardcore' in Max Payne 3 but without the timer.

The game saves this flag the instant you die or fail an objective, so dashboarding before the 'Retry?' screen comes up to stave off the reset will not work. However, if you are willing to deal with some tedium, you can guarantee unlocking this achievement for yourself.

At the start of every mission, after the initial checkpoint save icon disappears, dashboard out. Copy your Medal of Honor save (titled 'Profile Save Data'' on your Hard Drive) to a memory stick, and return to the game. If you die or fail, just replace the save file on your hard drive with the one you backed up. You will need to replay the mission you died on, but that is obviously far better than replaying X% of the game.

This will pop as soon as you shoot the Cleric in the head at the end of the last mission 'Shut It Down'.

As a reference, I managed to play the game on Hardcore in one sitting using this method in about 5 hours.

    Good luck!

EarthboundXIs the guide on 360a wrong about the HUD?

It says there's no HUD on Hardcore, but I just started, and the is a HUD, did they mix that up with Tier 1?

After beating the campaign on hard, HARDCORE AND TIER 1 difficulty is unlocked. Therefore no checkpoints and any failed mission objectives or deaths result in restarting the entire campaign on hardcore. YOU WILL WANT TO DO HARDCORE FIRST

To avoid this, the work-around is to back up your save on a USB flash drive by dashboarding just after the beginning checkpoint of the next mission and copying the save over to your USB flash. This can be done at every checkpoint denoted by the save symbol in the upper right.

So if you are stuck in one particular location you dashboard after you see the save symbol just before the part you are stuck at. Then save and restart it at the checkpoint just before instead of playing from the beginning on that mission from your last save.

During the Hot Pursuit mission you may dashboard (XBOX Home) without accepting the restart message mid-mission. If you use the dashboard/restart method you will have in game checkpoints saved after the first in game checkpoint and will start back at the last one you see saved (if you were paying attention to the symbol in the upper right.

Still irritating but much easier to do. Good luck, OUT.

SETTLEMONSTERIt does same as in normal, but it will not count them the same. I believe the process of disabling checkpoints left this open as a back door. Basically they didn't clear them completely.

To add to Chimaera36s post, at any point in the campaign, when the save symbol appears, you can quit to the menu, head to your storage, and move the saved file to your usb and begin at that spot again if you have to come back to the game later or die. I had to leave mid game but got to a save point and did the above. When i came back and started up, i was at the spot at which it had saved.
