  Put in disk 2 and load up multiplayer, on the main menu press LB and it brings you to the customization page.
  From there just quickly change your title and emblem. After that's done click characters and edit a character. I chose the first person (The Lady Maverick) and just edited her war paint(requires level 3) and it unlocked.
  
  You need 50 Abstergo credits and to be level 3 to unlock it this way, which takes 1-2 games max.
  
  Edit: It seems as though you can get this achievement when you are level 2, if someone could comment telling me what you can buy i'll update it.

  I wasn't able to use the Lady Maverick - Courtesan Outfit, but The Silent Shadow (top row far right) let me use Dark Costume (third option). At level 1, I haven't had any MP battles yet.

  I achieved this without playing any multiplayer whatsoever.
  
  NOTE: A 100% completed main storyline game MAY be needed for this to work. I didn't play the multiplayer until I had finished that, but I haven't done the thief or huntsman challenges yet to attain the Completionist achievement.
  
  After completing the tutorial missions the game throws at you, go to the customization tab and edit your player profiles title and emblem, as well as any relics, if you have unlocked them (I don't believe these to be necessary though).
  
  Move onto the character menu, select the huntsman and just change his costume. I had the Ratonhnhaké:ton costume available. Select that and the achievement should pop.

  I have done hardly any single player but managed it, had to finish all 3 tutorials though

  One costume requires the story to be completed and the rest need mp points to buy. I did not see names by the costumes. I will be going back to get the one costume once I have completed the story.

  Ok guys, for those of you who do NOT have the Online Pass like me, ignore the "Extra Content Required" flag that's attached to this.
  
  You can still play multiplayer, without it. Edit the emblem and profile as such you wish.
  
  For character personalization, reach Level 3 and then go to customize "The Preacher". Then go edit his face, select War Paint 1, and then buy "Primary War Paint 1" for 150 Abstergo Credits. Then back out to the other customizations options and this shall pop!
