I'm sure this can be done with advanced setups and much practice, but there's an easier way. I'll do my best to describe it, but I can't remember all of it off the top of my head, so I'll update it if I find some info incomplete or wrong... Here goes

Make sure you have already played through the career to get enough credits to purchase all of the upgrades. I don't know if they have a great effect or not, but I would do it to be safe. Definitely have the fuel upgrade though. This would not be possible without that.

Now start up the first event, when the selection screen appears make sure the difficulty says champion before every race. Now set the length to 5%, tire wear and fuel to x4 and flags set to off. I never did qualifying, so I always started last.

For Daytona and Talladega: Just go all out, but stay away from the pack or any danger since cautions are off. The computer opponents will start to pit and before you know it you'll be in the top ten. However, there may be some cars that choose not to pit, but that's okay. A top 10 finish or close to that is a near guarantee. You will not need to pit.

Next up are 13 lap races. These you will want to fully gas the straights, but coast around the turns. Do not get back on the gas until you think your speed is to low. You want to save around 3 laps of gas. Every computer car will pit, so you can continue saving fuel when you get the lead, as your lead should be 10+ seconds ahead.

Short tracks: Cautions are off because they will always wreck coming out of pit. This brings out the yellow, screws up the fuel strategy, and puts your worn tires next to the computers fresh. They will definitely wreck, it's important you take it slow through the piles, as there can be 30+ cars. If you can get through cleanly most off the time, you might end up winning by multiple laps. Be sure to save some fuel here as well, I don't think you can make it racing normal.

Road courses: This is the same as the restrictor plate tracks. You can go all out, but not everyone may pit. Easy top 10 though.

Everything else: For the most part, the tracks left are not common distances with another, so they will be different in laps. In these races you will have to pit, but some computer cars pit twice. A few things that helped me- Always pit one lap before them (I usually went around lap 8 or 9, but each track can vary) During most of these races all 42 cars pit together, so they will take forever in pit. If you pit right before them, you will have fresh tires to catch up the two laps. Another tip- Do not slow up for pit road, they will not black flag you, this saves a ton of time. If you think you can save enough fuel, go for it, but I would be happy with a top 20 regardless of how you do it.

Don't worry about getting lapped if you can't save fuel and stay ahead of the leaders, you should still be able to come away with a great finish. If you have to restart, feel free it does not disrupt the achievement, but do not quit, it will simulate for you. Invitationals I always joined and finished as quick as possible, even if it meant losing, but if you need the credits, definitely try your best. Lastly, if you want to change any of the settings before a race, feel free. Just be sure that it always says champion before starting. I changed cautions from on to off three races in and still got the achievement, so that will be okay.

One thing to keep in mind, do not worry about winning everything. You just have to make the chase, so don't worry about a few bad finishes, just make the chase. The chase you can't really settle for anything though. Be sure to know the standings, who is where and how many points they are back. Maybe you have a bad race, but the guys closest in the standings do even worse. Just settle with what you feel as an acceptable point race. If you have a good lead and hate a track coming up, maybe lower your expectations a bit. It's extremely key to always know your point situations.

One thing I do not know is how the new rules are implemented. I made the chase from first in the points. Technically, if you have a good amount of wins and are between 11-20 in points you will make the chase, but I cannot confirm or deny this as I haven't been in this situation.
