Considering the requirements of the other achievements in this game, it is not likely that you will pass 5, 15, and 30 hours of play time while working towards the other achievements. However, grinding out this achievement is fairly easy.

Setup your computer's power setting so that it doesn't go to Sleep or Hibernate during period of inactivity. Disable the screen saver as well.

Once your computer is ready, load up any level and walk away. Make sure that no menus are up and you are just waiting to shoot the birds. When you come back, shoot the birds to end the level and whether you pass or fail the time will be added to your total. If you have passed 5, 15, or 30 hours while you are away, the achievement will unlock after completion of the level you left running.

One additional thing to note is that you can play on a Windows Phone or on your Xbox at the same time that you are working on this.

This strategy works for the following achievements as well:
Angry Birds Star Wars (Windows)Star Bird FanThe Star Bird Fan achievement in Angry Birds Star Wars (Windows) worth 15 pointsAngry Birds Star Wars played for 5 hours

Angry Birds Star Wars (Windows)True Star Bird FanThe True Star Bird Fan achievement in Angry Birds Star Wars (Windows) worth 21 pointsAngry Birds Star Wars played for 15 hours

SolrayYa, I copied my solution from Space as I was playing through Star Wars. This game is definitely much quicker.

SolrayUpdated the solution to indicate what DarkxMaterials mentioned as well as the fact that you can play other devices while also playing games on a Win8 device.

UnsungGhostOne other consideration.... Does anyone know if you can minimize the Angry Birds game and do other things on your computer? Like play other Win8 games.

SolrayThat doesn't work with other games, but I never tested it with Angry Birds. It would be fairly easy to test with the 5 hour achievement though. Honestly, I would just turn on an Angry Birds level before bed and then finish it when you wake up.

UnsungGhostI thought there might be a "sleep" or "inactive" status that would prevent this. Some games restart even after what our generation would call minimize.

ScuzzyBunnyI don't think having it running in the background works. After I popped my 15 hour achv I left it running (in the background) for about 12 hours while I did other things on the computer, then opened the window, finished the level, and no achv. I then restarted and left it running (on screen) and came back about 6 hours later and finished the level, still nothing. I popped the achv about 8 hours after that (having left it running on screen), so I'm pretty sure it only counted the time when the game was on the screen. Unlike some other W8 games, when you put it in the background, while it looks like it's running (on the preview window) when you select it the game is always paused, so that might be what makes it not work.
