This is solution for a glitch that I encountered when I got to the battle with Miraak. If you want to know how to get to this point check out T0per Harley's solution.

The glitch I found was where Miraak absorbed the souls but didn't come out of "statis" to resume the fight. In reference to Thrasher Fan44's solution, I ran directly to the opposite side of the arena when ever a dragon landed. So take that information into account as well.

What I discovered was that Miraak does NOT recover 100% health from a dragon. I didn't get a chance to work out the exact numbers but for example sake I'll use easy numbers.

    - Miraak will only summon a dragon once he drops below 80%.
    - It appears that Miraak only absorbs 90% healtch from a dragon.
    - Putting these both together means that you only get a 10% window in which he will summon a dragon and then have full health in order to resume the fight.

Again, these numbers are extremely rough numbers only.

I was able to take Miraak out with a pair a dual-wielding power attacks and then got stuck. I repeated this several times by reloading my save. Once I resorted to a single sword non-power attack and beat him down slowly, I experienced no more problems.

DrKimPhDThanks for the solution. I wasted a lot of time and got pretty frustrated. I guess I was over-leveled. You're right slow and steady (damage) wins the race.

DennyElbowAlso it is worth noting that if you can kill all three dragons before you weaken Miraak, he will never go into his invincible ethereal state to heal, so this glitch can be avoided completely. He will still absorb the dragon souls, but he will be actively fighting while he does it.

TobiTobskeAnother good way to work around this glitch is to go hide (sneak to be accurate) behind a rock or something while Miraak is in his 'Recover' Mode. Stay there until you are 'hidden' (might take a while). Miraak will eventually become normal and you can fight him again. When he recovers again, just rinse and repeat.

For those of you that are looking to get this achievement, but have the glitch during the boss battle where you absorb the dragon souls instead of Miraak here's a solution. (At least until a patch comes out)

    1. With an earlier save travel back to Skyrim. Make a save.
    2. Delete the Dragonborn DLC.
    3. Load the last save as indicated in step 1, It will ask if you want to continue with missing content, say yes. Once it's loaded save again.
    4. Re-download Dragonborn.
    5. Now just load the save made in step 3. It will basically restart the dlc and should hopefully fix the bug from recurring again. (It did for me.) The only downside is that you will have to redo the questline and any side quests over again. Or you could just wait until the patch comes out.

    Hope this helps

This is the last quest of the DLC main quest line. It is a story related achievement and is then unmissable. Just finish the DLC main story to unlock the achievement

here is the detailed walkthrough. All credits go to Chief Geek from geekitdown.com

Following The Gardener of Men, Dragonborn embarks on what is to be the final main storyline quest in, At the Summit of Apocrypha. It’s here where first and last dragonborn will meet to seal their own destinies.

At the Summit of Apocrypha has a number of backtracking twists and turns. Turning around and moving back the way you came is a frequent theme during this quest so be mindful during your play-through.
    At the Summit of Apocrypha
    Chapter 1

    Unlock the ‘Bend Will’ shout.
Read the book, ‘Waking Dreams’ to enter Apocrypha.
Move north up the stairs and open Chapter II.

    Chapter 2

Continue upwards and take book ‘Boneless Limbs‘ to reveal a passage to the north.
Follow the passage to its end and open Chapter III.

    Chapter 3

Move straight through and follow the path to its end.
Take book ‘Delving Pincers‘ to open the gate located at the entrance to Chapter III.
Return to the entrance of Chapter III and pass through the gate.
    Activate scrye to reveal passage.
Optional: Exit to the south and activate scrye to open a gate to the northwest. Move through the northwest gate/passage and loot vessel.
Cross the southernmost bridge and take book ‘Prying Orbs‘ to open a second northwest gate.
Move through the northwest gate and open Chapter IV.

    Chapter IV

Choose your path and exit to the south.
Tip: Both paths meet at the same point.
Move east, then south to collapse passageways.
Exit out the way you entered originally.
Note: You’ll notice the room has been altered.
Move upwards to take book ‘Gnashing Blades‘.
Move back downwards and enter newly revealed southern passage.
Follow the passage east and continue forward to activate scrye.
    Backtrack out the same passage.
    Note: Passage has been altered.
Follow the new path up to the chamber.
Tip: From entrance move west and activate optional scrye. Again, from entrance, move southwest to the corner of the chamber and follow the corridor to activate second, required scrye which opens an exit.
Climb stairs and open Chapter V.

    Chapter 5

Place books ‘Boneless Limbs’, ‘Delving Pincers’, ‘Gnashing Blades’ and ‘Prying Orbs’ on the proper pedestals located along the outer ring of the chamber.
Note: The images on the pedestals correspond to the book names.
Tip: From the entrance, moving in a clockwise direction, place the books like so – Gnashing Blades (6 o’clock), Prying Orbs (9 o’clock), Boneless Limbs (12 o’clock), Delving Pincers (3 o’clock).
Proper placement of the books will trigger a glow in the pedestals and reveal the final chapter.
Move to the center of the chamber and open Chapter VI.

    Chapter 6

Approach shout wall and gain Word of Power, armor, Dragon Aspect.
    Defeat Sahrotaar.
Tip: You must tame Sahrotaar with the Bend Will shout.
    Ride Sahrotaar to meet Miraak.
Warning: This particular dragon ride is glitchy. When manually steering the dragon, it can cause the game to disregard all commands and default Sahrotaar to flying in a straight line with no destination. If this occurs, you’ll need to reset to a previous save point. The best way to avoid this bug is to let Sahrotaar do the flying without manual intervention. He will automatically fly to Miraak after a brief skirmish with a Lurker and Seekers.

    Skyrim Dragonborn Sahrotaar
    Defeat Miraak.
Note: Hermaeos Mora is going to steal the glory.

    Skyrim Dragonborn Miraak
Complete At the Summit of Apocrypha and the main quest storyline of the Skyrim, Dragonborn DLC.

    Rewards

Of course there are rewards for such a stellar performance. Miraak’s gear is naturally available so be sure to loot the corpse. Additionally, there is a perk point reward.

Read ‘Waking Dreams’, located at the center of the platform, once to trigger the perk exchange reward and Solstheim exit.
    Skyrim Dragonborn Waking Dreams
Each perk is shown in a circle around the center of the platform.
Players can choose to exchange a single dragon soul for a complete reset of any perk tree.
Perk points spent in a perk tree are added back to the pot for use wherever you wish.

Example: Let’s say you don’t use two-handed weapons, but put two perk points in that perk tree when you were a young adventurer. Exchange a dragon soul to reset the two-handed weaponry perk tree to 0. You are then given the 2 perk points back and you can spend them in other more character appropriate perk trees.
Tip: You can return to the summit anytime and reset perk trees as you desire by reading ‘Waking Dreams’.

CMPearce26Can't you write a better solution than that. I'm stuck at the part where you need to use the books. Would you even know how to get past it.

CydonianFuryCMPearce26 - The books correspond to the pictures on the stands, they're faint (I play with the darkness adjusted slightly and had to brighten it back to standard to see them clearly).

Also as a general note to anyone with a high-level character and strong weapons (including some spoilers here) to anyone having trouble with the fight itself, there is a bug I encountered. If you hurt Miraak too fast and he doesn't get to say all of his dialogue, he will become ethereal to regenerate his health from a dragon but won't regenerate it all the way and will stay ethereal. The bug seems to happen if he can't fully heal from a dragon and has some health left to regenerate. Being a higher-level character with good weapons, I was stuck for almost an hour with this bug as I constantly damaged him too much. Eventually, I decided to try turning to my Vampiric form and just hitting him with my hands, after getting half of his health down I'd hit him two or three times and stop, to see if he would flee to regenerate health again. At the beginning of the fight, wait until he attacks you after all of his dialogue. Give him the opportunity to talk during the fight where possible (back away and regenerate health or just stand behind rocks), don't damage him too fast, and he will regenerate his full health bar and return to battle. He regenerates his health 3 times in total, the last time from your Dragon, after that you can kill him as fast as you like.

Hope that helps if anyone encounters the bug. If you don't have Vampiric form, using lower level magic or low-powered weapons would probably also work. You just need to make sure he never really drops below 1/5 of his health bar.
