Simple enough, just complete the four base Acts as the mage character.

Build Advice

You earn a total of 80 points from level 1 to 40. You will be level 32 by the time you finish the base game if you do not replay any levels.

I maxed my mage's Power stat first (40 points) and then started to pump Dex as her ranged attack (magic) was still relatively weak and slow to cast.

However, I feel the mage would be better suited to a Power and Attack build similar to Spellsword builds in other games.

With ZERO points in Attack, my mage's melee outshone every other class including warrior (with max attack!) due to the elemental damage she was dealing. I can't imagine how much damage she'd do with max Atk/Pow.

1) She can use any melee weapons dropped in the game.

2) She can stun-lock like other classes with the X-X-X combo.

3) Maxing her Power stat gives her insane elemental damage and almost every weapon dropped is elemental.

If you feel it necessary, Defence wouldn't go a-miss with this class as she has extremely low health. But playing co-op, this shouldn't be an issue. I never touched this stat on my mage.

Extra info: Her level 3 Power attack turns all on-screen common enemies into chickens and they explode, doing massive amounts of damage. My mage was dealing 24,000 damage per enemy by the time she was level 33 with this attack.

Note: The build advice is exactly that - advice! Go with whatever build you feel most comfortable with.
