This is not as hard as it might sound if you're new to the game. It's actually pretty easy!

If you have a friend at the ready, you can beat this level on your first try, provided at least one of you has had some practice with the game. Don't go for this before you've beaten the campaign on at least one difficulty. Whoever is the most experienced at the game should be the pilot, and the other person is the gunner. Just teach them to use special missiles on large groups, and alternate between homing and regular missiles on everything else.

If you don't have a friend at hand, you're going to need to use two controllers. You obviously need to play the pilot, while your dummy controller is the gunner. The pilot still has a machine gun, so you can get through most parts using only that. If you rubberband RT on the dummy, however, you get double firepower (which is nice, because I think the enemies have double health in coop). For maximum firepower, rubberband RB as well, then switch to homing missiles (which, for some illogical reason, do more damage than non-homing missiles). Line up the two crosshairs so you can aim both guns with your controller and just play through the level.

Don't worry about the beginning of the level - the friendlies will take a pretty heavy beating but once they reach the ambush, they can hold their own and won't really take any more damage. Proceed to take out the jamming stations from afar to minimize the damage from AA units. The missile section is easy, then comes the boss. Stay away from him as much as possible, and use the homing missiles while eating away at him with the guns. When the mobile AAs show up, focus on them and ignore the boss until all ground units are gone. Same with the ICBMs; use them for cover and spam flares to avoid the boss killing you while you take them out. The ICBMs are actually the toughest part of the level, since the boss is all up in your face during that section. He spams missiles like they're on clearance and just 3-4 of them will kill you, so you need to constantly manouver, boost (LB) and spam flares (X).

The boss will probably take a few attempts since you're at a disadvantage if you're juggling two controllers, but there's a checkpoint right before you fight him and you can, of course, keep trying until you beat him.

Oh, and I used my favorite chopper, the Kalinin.
