How to unlock the Fourth and Forty achievement

    For this achievement you need to spend 40 hours in the simulation. All you need to do is load up the game, use a plug and play cable with your controller and let it run over night. No need to rubber band the controller. I used this method to get Switch Hitter and Back in the Day also. After finishing all other achievements I still only had 37 hours on the clock. And as others have stated you need to be in the simulation, not on the ship.

    Other players have confirmed that multiple playthroughs will count towards the 40 hours. Just needs to be 40 hours in the simulation.

    Ducc FeetI just found out that being in the ship DOES count. You can also run around in the ship if you want to for the "And I ran" achievement.

    Blue RadiumTwo things - if you utilize backwards compatibility to play an already created save, it resets your time played stat, even if you go back and play on a 360. I had roughly 28 hours played on the 360, shelved the game for years, transferred my save to the cloud, fired it up on an Xbox One 0 hours played showing in the stats page.

    Second thing, time spent on the ship does progress the time played in the stat page, can confirm. The game also had a bad habit of crashing if you leave it on overnight inside the simulation. Leaving the game on while not playing is best done in the ship, to avoid crashes.

    Maughty BearI left my game on for 18 hours on a 360 in the simulation and didn't crash at all. Maybe because I had it installed.

    just one thing i want to add to the above great solutions is if you press the back button go to extras and then stats at the very top first stat it says total time played. this is how long you have been in the simulation and i can confirm this as i just unlocked this achievement and my total play time reads 40:00:09

    OceanhipsNevermind, this is not always true depending on how long you spend on your ship and missions outside the simulation

    rhollidayFYI this appears to reset on reinstallation (on Xbox One at least). I earned the achievement for 2 hours as each gender a year or so ago. When I went to check this stat after reinstalling recently I had 1.5 hours of time played.

    This achievement is earned when spending 40 hours in the Simulation, and not in the real world (including the ship and real world missions). I thought my game was glitched when I saw that my save stated I spend 32 hours, but in my stats it said 27 hours.

    So if you want to boost this, make sure to boost in the simulation, and not on the ship or any real world environment

    TheAZNmikei have 42 hrs but mine hasn't popped yet do i have to beat the game 1st?

    k0ngzorAre you sure those are hours spend in the simulation? You can check these in the Stats menu, under Extra when pressing Select. For me it popped exactly at 40 hours simulation gameplay, while my overall time spend (which you can see when you save your game) was 51 hours
