  This is not a guide, just a couple of things to be aware of on your run through hard difficulty. Hard difficulty is not that tough, however, there are a couple of things to remember....Health drops are few and far between, so take your time and remember enemies always respawn. Also, you are only allowed 2 heart containers to upgrade your health to bring the total to 5 hearts. The heart containers are located on Transylvainia and Himilayas in the exact same spots they were on easy/medium difficulty (See the guide for heart container locations if you are having trouble locating them). On the other levels, if you go to the location of where the heart containers should be, you will get a lost treasure which will score you a cool million. Overall, hard mode is not that bad at all, and you should be able to complete this relatively easy, assuming you are familiar with the old Nintendo game, or have played the game at least once before on easy/normal. This is a classic, great game and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.

  The first section of the final level after the boss can get fucked. I cannot beat it because the hard pogo jumping is finicky as hell and will not work for the precision jumps.

  I used this speedrun to help me beat the game on hard & plan to use it on extreme as well.
  
  

  
  A couple of things to note...
  
  1. He's using hard pogo, but I used easy & was fine...
  2. He uses a glitch trick to skip some rocks in the Mine & the door blocking the Moon (because he's speedrunning the game)
  I've found that on the Xbox 360 version it DOES work, but the rocks respawn... Because there are several you have to glitch away in the Mine stage, I can NOT get it to work (but it might still be possible), but Because there is only 1 on the Moon it worked easily.
  3. He does not get the 5th heart container because it was too far out of the way, but even without it I was able to beat the game on hard because on the last stage there are SO MANY ice cream cones it's hard not to be at full before the boss fight.
  4. The suicide strats he uses are fine to use on Hard mode because you have infinite continues, but I do NOT plan to use them on my extreme run.
