After you have completed your first minor operation, Dispatch missions will become available. These missions task you to send your extra agents out into the field to tackle missions on their own away from you and the story. Each mission will have a complexity rating. The added levels of your agents must be equal or higher than the complexity rating of the mission to be completed. Example, The first dispatch mission is called Gearing up and has a complexity of 5. You could send 5 level 1 agents or a level 3 and a level 2. Its up to you. Agents you send will earn MUCH more xp in these modes than they would earn by your side so this is a great way to get each class to level 5 for the "Top. Men" achievement. Each dispatch mission you send agents out on will be unavailable to fight by your side while they are dispatched and they usually return after complete your next major/minor mission. Some of these missions unlock normally through game progress and some only unlock with Investigations around the base.

A list of dispatch missions available are:
Recovering Leaders - Complexity: 7
Behind Enemy Lines - Complexity: 10
Space Junk - Complexity: 10
Claiming What's Ours - Complexity: 10

Gearing Up - Complexity: 5 (Requires Investigation: Radio Interference )
Nanotechnology - Complexity: 7 (Requires Investigation: Find the Missing Silicoids)
Sleepwalkers - Complexity: 8 (Requires Investigation: Sleepwalkers)
The Russian - Complexity: 8 (Requires Base Investigation: Keeping Things Secure)
Vendetta - Complexity: 9 (Requires Investigation: Vendetta)
Cure - Complexity: 10 (Requires Investigation: Cure)
Test Flight - Complexity: 10 (Requires Investigation Test Flight)

As you can see there are only 4 that unlock normally through regular game play so you WILL have to do a few base investigations to unlock the extras. Any 6 dispatches will do and you can even have 2-3 going on at the same time if your agents are a high enough level and you have plenty of men to spare.
