First of all, you'll want to change your shooting style to use the RS instead of A in the options menu. Now, when starting the game, pick the "all in one direction" setting of firing and set the speed to be maximum. This will make it a little harder to take out the small enemies but will make it MUCH easier to take out the bosses.

The way the game works is pretty simple: each round starts with a bunch of small enemies like you saw in the regular game only now you can shoot them. After you have defeated a certain number of them (the number appears in the upper left of the screen), you'll go to a boss. There are three types of boss: a flower boss that sprays bullets in all directions, a plane boss that flies along a marked path, spraying bullets and a spinner boss which looks like a spinning pinwheel surrounded by some circles that shoot bullets. They have a set pattern which repeats every five levels: 2 flower bosses, 2 plane bosses and then a spinner boss. After level 25, there will be more than one flower or plane boss on each boss level.

There is a certain strategy to progressing in the game. On the "small enemy" part of each round, sit in the center and spin your RS around to fire in a continuous circle. You should not have to move if you are making a good spray. For the flower bosses, get close and fill them with bullets before your shield goes away. Be careful of colliding with them since your shield won't protect you from a collision and back off if your shield gets low. Their bullet patterns are pretty simple so you shouldn't have much trouble even when there are multiple flower bosses on the screen at once. For the plane bosses, I recommend staying about 45 degrees off their path. That puts you in a good position to fire on them but you'll be out of the way of their bullets regardless of whether they are firing forward or behind. Again, their bullet patterns are very easy to dodge so you shouldn't have much trouble even when there are multiple planes.

The pinwheel/spinner bosses are, by far, the hardest in the game and where you will lose most of your lives. The orbiting spheres spew out a lot of bullets so you'll need to move very precisely to dodge them. In general, you'll want to get between the pinwheel arms and spray bullets at the core and hopefully kill it before your shield runs out. If you have to back off you'll be in bullet hell so be careful. You'll lose quite a bit of your firepower if you die, so these battles are crucial to your survival. If you are desperate, you can turn on a shield for a few seconds with the X button, but I find this to be more of a distraction than a help.

The achievement pops after you lose all your lives and the game is over, so don't worry if you don't see it after you beat the boss on level 25.

YEME7H's guide for Gold Shooter is also very helpful so you'll want to read that one as well.
