The 4 Legendary Ships are located in each of the corners of the map. One of the locations will have two ships you have to destroy but it only counts as one of the four.

Before attempting this achievement you might want to complete the achievement to fully upgrade the Jackdaw, this will make it easier to destroy the Legendary ships.
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360)DestroyerThe Destroyer achievement in Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360) worth 88 pointsFully upgrade the Jackdaw.

But you can do it just before fully upgrade your ship. Destroying one of the Legendary Ships gives you 10000R which can help you to fully upgrade the Jackdaw as the upgrades do cost a lot.

    The four ships are:

    1. The La Dama Negra ( South West )
    2. HMS Prince ( South East )
    3. El Impoluto ( North West )
    4. Royal Sovereign & HMS Fearless ( North East )

Bazroy99Twin ships: Hit them with elite mortar as its radius is wide enough to hit both when they're sailing next to each other. Don't get caught in between them as they will annihilate you. If you keep them both alive but get them to near zero life you should be able to down the "angry" ship before it mega-barges you for sinking its friend.

Scenic Route 16Game cheats. Ships are speed boats with UFO zero gravity turning.

JimmieWorldIts not a good solution , you can see at the twin ships he barely managed to do it.

Here's my take on all the legendary ships:
    1. HMS Prince: Once the Jackdaw is fully upgraded its a piece of cake. Plenty of mortars and heavy shots.
    2. Royal Sovereign & HMS Fearless: Make sure you alternate damaging both as one will go nuts when his brother goes down. Gotta love their attack formations though but if you can shoot mortar at one and cannon the other you are truly a great captain!
    3. El Impoluto: Nothing to fear from this oversized tub with sails, he does love to ram you so make you drop those fire barrels in his way. That's how I sank him and send him to his watery grave. Same story by now: mortars, cannons, fire barrels, and mad props to anyone crazy enough to try to ram him.
    4. La Dama Negra: Cool name but don't be afraid that you can only damage its back. She got a nice fat behind to make all those shots easy to land. She is also slow as hell so you can out-maneuver her easily. Also, I tried mortars and they works just fine. Aim for the back end of ship.
    Good hunting, lads!

BloodngunsMrphyIf the Impoluto is "nothing to fear", then you must be a damned god of naval warfare.
Fire barrels should only a secondary measure - best thing is to hit it with broadsides as he's approaching, then try to take the least damage from a ram (or avoid it) and go for hits with heavy shot (basically the video in first solution).

EthigyWhen battling the La Dama Negra, I found it best to stick behind her and to continuously ram, as well as damage her with your chase cannons.

    Tips

Fully Upgraded The Prince and Fearless Sovereign are a cake walk. Just make sure that you have the twin ships both near death before you finish one off. Berserk mode ship is a beast.

For Impoluto and Dama Negra, I used boarding method and assassinated entire crew.
    * At start of mission, use scope to sign legendary ship, mark it.
    * At 580ish yards hold "B" to let go of wheel. You will coast into cut scene.
    * Climb foremast and wait for impact. For Dama Negra, you will need to climb hidden wall on maindeck. Rest is elementary.
    * Once crew is dead, return to Jackdaw, fire shot of your choice into ship, it will sink.

Lord BaneJHMS FEARLESS & ROYAL SOVEREIGN is the toughest for me. I had to try 3 times and only managed to sink both with the help of my fully upgraded mortar and ram.

BloodngunsMrphyTried this multiple times with both ships mentioned, never ever worked. The Negra barely ever gets close enough. Luckily the Impoluto is the only rage-worthy one.

SpiritHawk7I used the boarding method for Impoluto, La Dama Negra, and The Prince. I got lucky with the Prince as after timing it to let go of the wheel and sail into the cutscene, after the Prince crashed into me and I boarded from the front, even though I couldn't jump over the forward wooden railing/beam, the Jackdaw was positioned just right and close enough on the right for me to jump from the tip of the forward mast (a second time) and onto the middle of the Prince's deck.
