  I know people probably aren't having troubles with this achievement but for those who are or want it early there is an incredibly easier way to do this and you don't even have to board it first.
  1) Attack a brig
  2) Get close to the brig but don't board it but close enough that you can still release the wheel
  3) Jump out of your ship and swim towards the brig
  4) Climb into the brig and kill every enemy
  5) Swim back to your ship and now board it
  
  Once you try to board it you'll have killed all the enemies and you'll automatically win with no chance of losing crew members
  
  Edit: Even works on larger ships and you can do all of the requirements before boarding, even destroying the flag

  Just a little tip or alternative.. I got this by boarding a ship out in the hightide I boarded it and I didn't need to fight it. It was a Level 17 I wasn't playing Story Mode not sure but I think if you are in the High Tide Zone you don't have to fight you can just Board and bam achievement.

  This did 100% sure NOT work on "Schooner" (one of the smallest boats)!
  For me it works on a "Brig" the first attempt. The Brig glass have a ram on its front (Bow)
  
  Nr. 1 to 5 works perfect but not on every ship class.

  Like it says on the tin: you need to complete a boarding without any of your crew dying. As such, this is a skill based mission, but there are a few things to keep in mind that should make things a bit easier.
  
  I actually got this achievement on a Hunter (a ship that starts to attack you if your notoriety is too high); it's not that hard to get if you know how to handle a boarding. I've only attacked navy ships and a hunter; it might even be easier to just board a small private vessel.
  
  First things first: You complete a boarding by killing enough of the other ship's crew. The trick here is to end the boarding as quickly as possible, so none of your crew has to get killed. If you see a message along the lines of "crew killed -1" over your head in red letters; then one of your crew members has died and you can't get the achievement anymore for that boarding.
  
  So you've damaged a ship greatly enough to start boarding. Your crew starts to throw hooks at the other ship to reel it in. You actually have a few moments here before the ships are side by side (especially if you've held the 'B' button to start boarding when the ships were not perfectly aligned). The best course of action is to use one of the small cannons you can find on either side of the steering wheel. These cannons have a limited amount of shots but with some good shooting you can actually get quite far (on the hunter I got 6 out of 10 crew members I needed to kill; and I even missed a shot or two).
  
  After you've used up all the cannon's shots, if you were quick enough and if the ships were far enough from each other, the ships are still not touching sides, and you could either start shooting people with your pistol(s) or you could just jump over and start assassinating people, whichever you're more comfortable with. I first shot two people with my pistols and after I thought reloading took too much time (my crew had already started boarding by that point) I just jumped over and used RT and X together to do a running kill towards a crew member.
  
  You should be fine if you remember to:
  1) Start boarding when the ships are not yet touching sides; if your crew needs to reel the other ship in first then you have some time to start killing people before your crew is in danger.
  2) Use the cannons next to the steering wheel; it's a quick way of ramping up the kills
  3) Use quick kills like pistol shots and (running) assassinations; getting into an actual swordfight takes more time.
  Edit: 4) This achievement doesn't work on ships where you have to kill only five crewmembers.
  
  Edit: Many gamers in the comments have confirmed that this achievement just doesn't work on ships where you only have to kill five crewmembers; even if you (and your crew) actually board the ship. So if you go for this achievement, take note that you should aim for brigs or higher (that is, ships where you you have to kill at least 10 crewmembers).

  I'm 100% sure i just did it on a level 20 brig so yes it has to be 10 or more, really wish they would have put that in the achievement description.

  Well, it might be that the achievement is just buggy and it actually should work on schooners. Though it makes sense to give some weight to this achievement by making it not work on schooners.

  It doesn't even need to be a ship that you attack, I got it by coming across one that was already on fire after a battle. Once you begin the boarding process it seems that the other ships will leave you alone

  Just a little tip. So many times on 9/10 only to see -1crew come up.
  the above guide is great, just want to add that after you use the swivel gun to thin the crowd, have smoke bombs equiped. When you board run into a group drop and assassinate. this worked first time for me.
