If you're checking this solution and have yet to start the game, then begin on Hardcore difficulty. Why? Despite the warning about the game save being wiped IF you die, you
can still backup your save to USB memory which will save you a large amount of time. Despite
this, the game is still relatively simple for the most part if you've played twin stick shooters.

Here's the best part though, you're not punished for leaving a stage if you're having a bad performance. For example, you can enter an arena with full health, but if you're very close to death, you can simply quit out without saving and retry as the game autosaves after each arena completion. You can save and exit from the overworld map too before you start a new arena if you feel safer doing so.

Now, the only problem that I failed to realize during the run is that in the Defense stages, if Fred loses all its health, this will count as a Game Over (as I found out the hard way), so I strongly suggest avoiding these if they're optional, but you should go for them if there's an item unlock as one of the achievements requires you to obtain all equipment. The health upgrades can be useful later on too, so there's always an incentive to go for every arena with items.

The health stations should only be used if you're very low on health, credits you obtain from an arena are limited and as before, you'll need them to buy equipment and powerups for a couple of related achievements. Although, if you maintain your distance and don't play aggressively, you'll usually come out without a scratch. You can stockpile with the Titanium Shell upgrade for a free hit, but obviously try to avoid coming under fire.

Before taking on the boss of World 6, clear up any arenas left to get credits, as you'll most likely need them for World 7, which has you fighting much harder versions of the previous bosses.

Spoiler ahead for the World 6 boss fight.

*** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

The World 7 final boss is a pushover, with only one form and some pretty basic patterns. Sit all the way at the bottom of the stage and just keep firing towards the giant cube. Towards the end, there will be blue boxes that fall on top of you, but you only need to take small movements to avoid them. Just swing from left to right while also keeping an eye on the floor tiles as these got me psyched out more than anything else thrown at you.

My final time was just under seven hours, but of course the further you get, the more risk there is if you don't backup your save on a regular basis.
