There are 5 unique plants on each of the 4 main islands.

You can check progress by pressing start, then going into the survival guide, then select Herbarium and it will show which plants you have found and it will also state the island and number / out of 5.

A tip is to level up as Kenji as this will enable you to select a perk each time you rank up & one of his unique perks is to display close plants of the herbarium on your map / hud.

Ive been using a leveled up Kenji to do this and having fun in the process, its not that hard when you use Kenji & the display herb perk whilst exploring

GD Great Healer found a site with pictures of the islands and plant spots. so use that combined with Kenji and your laughing
