"Breaking hearts" is when you are the first to play any Heart card in a round. This can only be done when you run out of cards of the starting suit of a hand. For example, the starting card is a club but you have run out of club cards, you can then play any heart card.

Additionally, playing the Queen of Spades before any Heart suit has been played counts as breaking hearts.

There's no real way to speed this up except for playing lots of games, and playing with friends who will purposely not play Heart cards to allow you to be the first to "break" them.

MikaDaiki's solution is fine, just wanted to add this:

Even *leading* the Queen of Spades counts as breaking hearts. This means, if you're dealt it or passed it, and if you win the first trick, you can lead the Queen of Spades on the second trick, and break hearts before anyone else has a chance. (The game prevents you from breaking hearts on the very first trick, even if you don't have any clubs to follow suit.)

Unfortunately the achievement seems to count how many times you broke hearts in a game you actually completed, not just how many times you broke hearts.
