  By the time you get to this chapter of the game you should know what to expect to get through the main portion. Here are couple of tips.....
  
  1. Save your focus till you fight the five gladiators (refer to the 22:35 mark). They are very tough and will take huge chunks out of life. I recommend having at least two focus bars saved. I didn't save any focus and I really struggled at this level because they gang up on you.
  
  2. If you are like me, you probably had trouble during the Commodus look-a-like section. No worries. DO NOT PRESS Y. Wait for one of them to strike, block it, and hit him with a sword strike twice. Rinse and repeat. It takes forever but it is an easy way to get through this section. Once there is only two left their attacks are less predictable and they will team up on you. Simply take your time, block and counter attack when appropriate. Do not rush!! You got this far, don't rush and screw up.

  I've felt like quitting on this Legendary playthrough on every level. Then it got to this one and the Killers of Carthage bit. Jesus. Almost rage quit for real. Then I got angry and smashed them to pieces, without getting hit. Watch the video I've uploaded of me doing it. Hold Y -> X X. Copious rolling about (B). Couple of smashes each, done. Cannot believe how easy I made it look, but trust me there was about 30mins of pure evil before I did this.

  Excellent solution, Commodus was making so mad... the rest of the level was very easy for me but the don't press Y and take your time and let him beat himself is genius! I put the game down for a couple weeks before reading that solution, Thanks again.

  I'm really glad my solution was helpful. I thought Trial By Fire 3rd Chapter was really tough. Especially the part when you had to throw the spears at the archers on the roof; roughly 3/4 through the chapter. I must have done that sequence at least 20 times before I beat it. What are your thoughts?

  if you don't save the fokus or something else.
  DON'T BLOCK !
  keep rolling pressing B.
  Roll to an enemy without shield and press X,X then keep rolling.
  For those with a shield press Y,X,X - the normal way !

  Will try this solution later tonight. For the most part, I have had no issues with my Legendary run. Only chapter 3 made me mad. Inside the tower, and taking down the archers were the parts I had to take about 25-30 attempts to clear. But when I did it, boy was I happy.
  
  The only part I am really dreading, is the final hallway as you go to complete the game. Had a ton of trouble on my easy run. All because the game glitched on me, and I never got the colour highlight to see when to block/attack. Doesn't help that you have 1mm of health left when you start this section. Determined to do it though.

  Let me know how it goes. I remember Chapter 3 with the archers. That was a real pain in the ass. After I got through that part it was smooth sailing. If you follow this solution you will get this part the first try. Hopefully the last part doesn't glitch on ya. For Rome!!!

  really? it seems like the amazon forest part would be the hardest. also, EFF those archers. I'm dreading that part, or any part with archers really. So bad.

  And so the "difficulty" becomes apparent. Nothing hard about this game, just BS visuals so bad you can't interpret what happens next. 7 enemies inside each other, no way to see anything. Enemy textures fading into the dirt. This game is beyond garbage. Spam BS, get full health from checkpoint, smash way through, repeat. Turning half your game mechanics off and breaking the rest for "legendary" (poorly designed by default) isn't proper game design. Can't wait to get this turd off my list, safe to say Crytek won't be getting a dime from me ever again.

  Great tip for the multiple Commodus part! A very good tactic for the actual Commodus is to roll away so he charges you, then you can just deflect his attack and hit him twice. Just keep rolling away after so he charges again.
