First and foremost you should have all ship upgrade when you do this and be prepared for a bit of a long hall depending on your skill Level and as for the ships I found an IGN guide that really helped so I am going to copy it here for you but before I do I will tell you my main strategy if you have trouble with theirs. I most focused on ramming them and then using heavy shot when you feel you can land with most the shots then proceed to use swivel guns to hit weak points and if you get the chance shoot another broadside and rinse and repeat. also the guide doesn't mention it LA DAMA NEGRA is only armoured on its sides so it is also vulnerable to damage from the front, or above. I will also post the link to the guide and a gameradar guide as well at the end.

The HMS Prince is similar to a Man'O War ship but with heavier hits and defense. It will try to get away from the Jackdaw with its superior speed while using Mortar on you. Similar to other mortar attacks, you will see the area of effect, giving you a small opportunity to avoid damage.

Try to move close and use the chain and ram strategy, trying to stay as close as possible so that it prevents the HMS prince from using Mortar. The HMS Prince is probably the easiest of the Legendaries.

The La Dama Negra, probably the easiest Legendary battle, is very similar to the HMS Prince in terms of its attack style with one key difference: Unlike other ships' mortar attacks, it does not show the area of effect.

One way to respond to the mortar attacks is try not to move towards it directly from a distance, as it will most likely fire devastating mortar shots in your path. If you are circling the La Dama, slow down a little when you see mortars coming, as most of its attacks are adjusted for where you are speeding towards.

The best strategy against this ship is to stay close and use heavy cannons while ramming where you can, staying close will also mean reduced chance of it using mortar on the Jackdaw. Remember that her sides are heavily armoured. Moving behind her will allow you to do normal damage.

This legendary battle is a fight against two ships, the HMS Fearless and Royal Sovereign. They both have less HP than the rest of the Legendaries, but they will come at you by funneling you between them and using their side cannons against you.

Best strategy is to chain shoot one and then ram them, once the boat is pinned down continue to use chain shot and ram, making sure the boat doesn't get too far away from you. Another crucial part of the battle is to use brace when your boat is between the two.

If you destroy one boat before the other, the remaining will employ a different strategy where it will constantly ram you for massive damage, so a good strategy is to damage one ship's health to about 10% with the chain and ram strategy, then start using the chain and ram strategy on the other ship so that once you destroy one ship, you can finish the other one with one or two mortar shots or a good ramming.

In terms of difficulty the El Impoluto is probably the hardest of the lot as it is a lot more aggressive and has massive ramming power compared to the other Legendaries.

Strategy against it is to shoot chain and then ram where you can, however, given its superior movability compared to the Jackdaw, you will also have to employ cannons and mortars when El Impoluto runs away from you, it will respond with cannons, so remember to use brace when you see cannons coming. Mortars can be used to interrupt its wide turns and give you time to reset -- when it speeds away from you, hit it as it begins a turn and it will try and avoid your shot, slowly turning the other direction.

Do NOT try and ram El Impoluto on its side and accept the fact that it is far faster than the Jackdaw.

However, you can pull off a very careful ram attack to counter its own ramming run: As it approaches you to ram, turn towards Impoluto, accelerate, and send chain shot at it when it gets near. This will slow it enough, or stop it entirely, so that it cannot ram you. Use your own ram to hit it right to the left or right of its own ram. From here it will maneuver wildly, sometimes reeling into the air to reposition. Hit is hard with Heavy Shot and Swivels while it does.

Another thing to watch out for is when it moves behind you, the best defence to deter it from ramming you is to let off a few fire barrels and let off a mortar to steer it away.

Also I defeated the twin ships last and the achievement popped after i destroyed the first one so if you just want the achievement and don't care about the rewards if you have trouble with the two ships just ram then heavy shot one til it dies and it should pop like it did for me

iTz Canada EhhJust an FYI, if you do the sister ships last (North East Corner), destroying one will get you the achievement. Just happened for me. Took down the one with white sails and the achievement popped.

I8ITackyticsI8IDid HMS FEARLESS AND ROYAL Sovereign first, beat both ships seperately but left because I couldn't do it, returned to it last, beat it, no pop. Guides above saying you can just take one out and you get the achievement, i did both and didn't get it. Very annoying.

I8ITackyticsI8ILa dama negra was the one that glitched for me in the end, now 100%d this game, thank you to those who highlighted the glitch works perfectly. It's a really weird one how you float about on top of the ship and no idea programmatically how it works, but important thing is it does

I found the information on using the cheats on the IGN site and can confirm that it still works on the Xbox One as of January 1, 2014.

Let me start off by saying if you don't like using the cheats (which are unlocked in this game by completing Abstergo challenges) then good for you. There's no reason to keep reading or give negative feedback. This solution is obviously not for you.

Now how this works. You will first need to complete 90/100 Abstergo challenges (found in the pause menu) to get the cheats required. Once you have progressed this far turn on "arrr matey!," "dead men tell no tales," "shiver me timbers!," and "armed to the teeth." I don't see why it takes these specifically so if somebody is successful with other combinations let me know and I will edit the solution.

The game will now tell you that it will not save which is true. Once you have killed the ships and turn the cheats off the 4 legendary ships will still be on the map and all of the loot you collected with the cheats on will be gone but you will have the achievement. You can use fast travel to get nearer to each ship without losing progress. I had not destroyed any of the ships on the Xbox One version of the game before doing this and did all 4 in one go. I do not know what happens if you have already killed one then start this.

Edit (6/23)...Thanks to the players that added comments. "Arrr Matey!" and "Dead Men Tell No Tales" are the only cheats that need to be active to get the achievement.

DerTeufelkindStill working as of October 12th 2021, so for anyone who wants to do this in the future, we can probably assume that it’ll never be patched at this point.

I only used the Dead Men Tell No Tales cheat as well, just as the person above.

Putting this out there since it's only really mentioned deep in some comments here and on The other guides are great for strategies, so I'm not going to copy that info here.

This happened to me, and seems to have happened to plenty of others, so I'm writing this to help you avoid a glitch that prevents you from getting the achievement.

The glitch: during the fight with La Dama Negra (SE corner), the ship can sometimes mysteriously sink itself. Some have speculated that she blew herself up with her own mortars. When it happened to me, there was also a heavy storm with waterspouts and rogue waves (as if the fight wasn't hard enough :)). So maybe the storm took her out? No idea... the point is, I didn't land the killing blow, she otherwise sank due to some other factor. And while the game considers the fight won, and you get your reward, the achievement tracker doesn't register the +25% for the kill. Also, the ship (or any other legendary) will not respawn, so you're screwed.

The solution (if it already happened to you): full credit to the author, shaunsuk03, over on, I read this post and followed the advice and got the achievement myself. The gist of it: you need to start a new game, speed run through til after sequence 4, memory 1 (the one where Kidd shows you the secrets). After that mission, the map destinations for the legendary ships finally show up and you can actually fight them. It took me around 2 hours to get to that point as I was ignoring everything else. To actually beat a ship without any upgrades, I refer you to youtube guides. Here is the La Dama Negra fight, and again, it's not my video, full credit to the uploader:

The achievement requires you to beat the four specific legendary ships. Because La Dama Negra glitched on me, it had to be that ship that I sank in my new game. I actually defeated El Impoluto first (there's a youtube guide for that ship as well) and that didn't work, my tracker stayed at 75%.

If you haven't beaten the ships yet, this solution is still for you! To avoid the glitch, I would recommend you do as the other solutions have suggested and turn a cheat on to prevent saving. The second a ship sinks, whether it's by your doing or not, the game auto-saves. If you have one of the very helpful cheats, that makes things easier of course, but even turning on one of the early cheats to set the day/night cycle or whatever is best, just to prevent saving. You could also employ the strategy in the video I linked to just to ensure you're the one that sinks the ship.

I wish this glitch was mentioned more prominently, it would have saved me some time :). If you google "devil of the caribbean glitch", there are plenty of posts, and people have submitted to ubisoft about fixing it, but at this point, we're on our own. Just be careful and you'll spare yourself 3 hours of replaying the game just to be able to glitch the ship you missed to defeat it. I don't like glitches and would rather beat them honestly, but this glitch is also a PITA!

HieronimusThumps up, this is the solution that saved me so much trouble after the Dama Negra glitched on me.

MF Draco31.07.2019 still works (dama negra and el impoluto bugged for me - glitch works on both of them + on HMS Price)

I8ITackyticsI8II guess dama negra must have glitched on me. The first ship I sunk didn't give me the money for beating it, the rest did. I didn't think the last one (the 2 ships) counted but I had sunk them individually before so maybe they counted? So confused.
